That’s an amazing version of the song. There you have some of THE greatest guitar players of the last fifty years and Prince blows all of them out of the water. For as celebrated as he is, he’s still underrated.
With them gods that were on stage doing my guitar gently weeps together and for them to have him do that solo showed how respected he was as a guitarist. Incredible musician.
All 3 versions of this song are amazing but nothing beats the legend that is Prince. So glad you are checking him out. Other songs I absolutely love are When Doves Cry, 1999, Little Red Corvette, and Purple Rain (specifically his performance at halftime of the Super Bowl). Awesome reaction Biss ❤️👏👏
This is your first Prince song? Oh my oh my, you are in for a treat! Songs like Purple Rain, Cream, Raspberry Beret, and especially When Doves Cry come to mind.
Singer, song writer, musician(and he played nearly everything) and of course performer extraordinaire! Prince is the epitome of an all time great. If u go down his rabbit hole, may I suggest starting with his early stuff, Dirty mind album and just enjoy from there!!! RIP gone too early (heavy sigh)
Prince's guitar skills are always rated highly but people miss what an amazing voice he has. His range is very wide and he has perfect pitch. His voice is so lovely.
I am so glad you listened to this one. No one compares 2 Prince. But this isn't the best version. For the Purple Majesty in all his three inch platform heel Glory, you need to watch the official video on his channel.
That small man took a lot of space on stage or wherever he appeared, regardless who stood next to him. But what a performer, and songwriter he was! Loved and missed 🤘
Prince IS my musical hero. There are too many songs to choose from but two of my all time favorites are "Call My Name" and "Shhh". They are well worth a listen, especially "Shhh"!
Apart from the fact that Prince is one of the best guitar artists of all time, his hits are of course "Purple Rain, 1999, When Doves Cry and, and, and ... unforgettable - you want to dance if you can "when doves cry" knocks you off your chair!
I've been to a lot of concerts in the past and really sad that I never got to see this Legend live, his singing, performing, stage presence and shredding on guitar are next level, he is so missed
Prince Purple Rain could be a double feature on this channel and BissFlix. Probably anything by Prince will hit you hard. His charisma on stage. The deep meaning of most songs. The fun atmosphere his party songs emote. Welcome to Prince. I look forward to seeing more reactions by him. I saw him live 2 or 3 times and each show was differnt by the best experience of my life.
Prince was a powerhouse in the 80s and has numerous hits. Thank you for reacting to one of his hits. If you wish to continue down the Prince journey, check out: "Purple Rain" or "When Doves Cry".
He was always a powerhouse! After the 80’s. My favourite era is the 90’s but even later, albums like musicology, 3121, planet earth, art official age, all stellar! Please dont label him as just an 80’s artist. He was producing outstanding music for nearly 40 years 💜
Prince was an artist for the ages. He was simply incomparable. You can't go wrong with any Prince music and he wrote so much successful music performed by other artists.
This song was first recorded by The Family, Prince's girlfriend Susannah Melvoin's band. It's definitely worth a listen to hear the original. Lots of great Prince music out there... take your pick.
I have never heard a live performance from Prince where he sang a song the same. Even Purple Rain his biggest song he put a little different sauce every time. ❤ A true artist 😊 I like Sinead the most
Two things. First, that smile at 2:40...that is an amazing smile. The initial discovery/understanding of the power of Prince. Second, as far as other Prince songs to react to...the list is looooong and you can't go wrong with any of them. If I were to go a little deeper (but not too far) into his catalog, "Money Don't Matter 2 Night" would be my recommendation. It's not the energy of "Let's Go Crazy" or "1999"...but that smile you had at 2:40...I get the same smile hearing "Money Don't Matter 2 Night". ua-cam.com/video/AmGVAu9lk6I/v-deo.html
Prince is simply Prince, definitely hearing him sing is always a surprise, there are so many levels of talent and musical lust that we all want more even if we are already fans. 💜 Do more!
Prince beat Mozart, he mastered over 20 instruments by age 17, he could dance, sing any note, rap, he wrote, arranged, performed ALL his music, including wrote hits for other artists, he has covered almost every genre, Metal, Punk rock, hip hop, pop, r&b, soul, jazz, blues, country, ambience, classical, instrumental. The Multi-Genre God. He could play anything, and your favorite artists have been deeply influenced by him. Corey Taylor, Beyonce, Steve Vai, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Lil uzi vert, H.E.R. , Paul Mccartney, Joni Mitchell, Bruno Mars, all worship Prince to just name a few. Prince recorded his first 2 albums at 16 all by himself, all instruments, lyrics, arrangement, composition & vocals were all by him. He was such a prodigy, that music executives wanted proof, they would fly across country just to see if he could really play all instruments, because it was so unheard of. Prince has over 50 official released albums and when he passed, they found over 10 thousand unreleased Prince music in his vault. He then came into the business and was the FIRST to fight for artists rights, and he WON. He would write "slave" on his cheek and go to meetings protesting against the industry. Prince was also the first artist to sell his music on the internet. You are talking about the most talented artist we will ever see.
Prince wrote it... recorded it... gave it to The Family (vocals by St. Paul Peterson) on the Paisley Park label in 1985. Sinead then did her cover & made it famous. Prince reclaimed it by doing live version with Rosie Gaines. Then after his death we finally got to hear his original studio version.
This just touches the surface of the gifts of Prince. But gradually move into his catalog form Contemporary hits like this, then to Pop hits like Purple Rain and 1999, then to the artsy Sign O The Times, then to the FUNK stuff Dirty Mind etc...
I’ve been waiting so long for you to start your Prince voyage. Welcome. Strap in. If you thought discovering Queen and Freddie Mercury was life changing, you better get ready for new heights. I saw Prince 16 times in concert. Genius doesn’t really do him justice. Watch him live at the Forum - Play That Funky Music…it will blow you away. Peace.
Any song from Purple Rain. Adore, Anastasia, Manic Monday, Diamonds and Pearl, Gett Off, Dolphin, the Gold Experience, the Most Beautiful Girl in the world, tons more. Prince is a genius.
If you go down the Prince rabbit hole be prepared to take a few months because you will need it. He was a hit machine, both for himself and for so many others where he wrote the songs with the artist in mind. He was a genius and he turned down a record deal as a teen because they would not let him produce his music - he was THAT good.
It’s the Prince version for me, all day Bisscute! You must react to The Beautiful Ones 💜. Here is the link below. It’s a clip from Prince’s movie Purple Rain. The person who made the video mistakenly titled the song Baby, Baby, Baby. I’m so glad you’re becoming a fan. I can’t wait to see your reaction 🤗 ua-cam.com/video/sflbBP1cywM/v-deo.html
Welcome to Prince‘s universum. He was the best. I heard one song at three different evening differently interpreted. He was the best live performer with great arrangements in different genres and a perfect timing. Whatever you can see live (Motherless Child, Play That Funky Music, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, The Live concerts in Montreux)…watch and be amazed!!!
There’s one more version you need to hear I think. It brings things full circle. It’s performed by St. Paul Peterson, the lead singer of The Family for whom Prince wrote it. St. Paul Peterson and Eric Leeds performed this as a tribute shortly after Prince died. It’s a magical version and Eric Leeds’s sax is perfect. Hope you can find the time to react to this. ua-cam.com/video/O9OK6CPbJec/v-deo.html
Prince always changes song arrangements for live performances. I’d suggest his slightly less mainstream songs like Adore…. there’s just so many I’m not going to start listing them
One of my favorites is "Let's Get Crazy." The live scenes were filmed at First Avenue (Club) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the Twin Cities, (Minneapolis/St. Paul) they light up the city in purple every year in Prince's honor. 💜
Watching you react to this song was so cute. Listen to Prince “When Doves Cry,” “Kiss,” “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” “Raspberry Beret,” and of course his guitar solo with Tom Petty and others singing the Beatles “While my Guitar Gently Weeps.”
The original Nothing Compares 2 U: ua-cam.com/video/cpGA0azFdCs/v-deo.html. Listening to Prince live is tricky because he likes to remake his songs and or just wing it for his live performances so often you don't get to hear the original version. Just something to keep in mind. It can be radically different like this performance you're reacting to. But really he has far better songs imo. Purple Rain, When Doves Cry, I Would Die 4 U, The Beautiful Ones. You know what? Every song on Purple Rain. It's a no skip for me. Also Little Red Corvette from the album 1999. Man that gorgeous OB synth in it is perfect, and the drums! I think it's a tuned Linn LM-1 with some of the drums going through FX. I read he used Boss pedals on drums and other stuff but I can't say for sure. I'll have to research it. Whatever it is it sounds fantastic and iconic. Oh and of course the song 1999 is a party jam, well it was before 1999. It came out in 1982. If you want funky Prince: Controversy, Uptown, I Wanna Be Your Lover, Sexy Dancer, Soft and Wet. Anyways, nice to see Prince finally on the channel, even if I prefer his 70s/80s stuff far more.
technically the original recorded/released version of this song is by The Family. They were a band Prince put together for his then girlfriend (who he wrote the song for). The video you linked is actually his demo of the song (and yes many of his demos are top notch)
*I still have my ticket stub from his Purple Rain Tour with Sheila E. STILL the best concert I've ever been to. Here are some suggestions:* *-Pop Life (when you listen to this with earphones, you'll know why.😁)* *-I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man (from "Sign 'O' the Times)* *-U Got the Look (Official Video, with Sheena Easton)* *-Girls and Boys (the Official Video. Just for Jerome laughing at the end, after Prince goes "BOO!". 😁)* *-Cream (Again...Official Video. It is quite sexy)* *-Batdance (Because, why not. lol)* *Oh yea! And "7". (For Mayte's "sword dance", and the cute kids. Little mini Princes and Maytes.)* (I'll let everyone else suggest his usual, commercial stuff) 😁
Prince's released music is legendary and his live performances often take the songs to another level. If you're going to do When Doves Cry make sure it's the extended video version. My suggestion is, and search for this exact term on UA-cam, "Prince - Never Take the Place of Your Man (1987 Sign of the Times concert movie)"
A song he done called Gold was good but personally would say his live performance of Purple Rain from 1985 is one more people need to check out. Took that song to another level.
The original recorded version of this song was by a band called The Family. The band included Prince's former fiancee Susannah Melvoin, the twin sister of Prince's guitarist Wendy. This is the version of the song Sinead O'connor listened to that inspired her to cover the song.
Prince is definitely the most genius gifted musician/vocalist/song writer of the past thousand years! There wasn’t anything like Prince before, and it’s unlikely there will be anything like Prince ever again.
I think Prince's performance in the rain at the Super Bowl XLI halftime show and his performance with a group of guitar legends on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" are a couple of must watch videos.
Prince is one of the all time greats. Saw him live once and he sounds identical live to how he is on record. Truly a one of a kind. He supposedly could play 27 instruments and was entirely self taught. If you are gonna react to his songs, Purple rain is a must, but When Doves Cry is another killer. Oh, and there are two studio versions sung by Prince. There is the version he did which is probably the official video you saw on here and then there is also the version he recorded as part of the band The Family. Both versions are very different, and completely different to this live version. Worth listening to them all.
What an incredible, talented, beautiful soul we were blessed to have for too short of a time. (R.I.P.) I had the pleasure of seeing the Purple Rain tour, amazing performance. Let's get crazy from Purple Rain. Great guitar solo. Amazing reaction as usual. Keep up the great work...
Hi just stumbled in this, and You must see two! One is Motherless Child by Prince, And d the second is Question Of U live, with polka dot chest showing suit, short hair version.
Glad to see you reacted to Prince. To me he's the greatest musician of my generation & there will never be another. His work is endless & he has many great songs. You need to do Purple Rain, Pink Cashmere, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man, Take Me With You, Wherever You Go Whatever You Do, Take Me With You, Let's Get Crazy, Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Gold & so many others. He's a legend RIP to him
Bisscute, Prince wrote this song, many covered it, but this man, rest in peace, is the best, please listen to the orginal Prinnce studio recording, and I promise you, you will be convinced, no one comes near him :) love you, by the way
R.I.P Prince. He wrote this song, that’s why this is my favourite. I don’t dislike the other versions but you asked which one is my favourite. He was a genius xx
Prince originally wrote this for a band called the Family in 1985 who were a collection of his former band members. After Sinead O'Conner made it a worldwide hit in 1990 Prince decided to start performing his own versions in concerts from time to time. The official video version also features Rosie Gaines singing duet, but the tone is much more sombre and emotional.
I think you shoud give an reaction from: Prince - Sign O' The Times (Official Music Video)n and Prince - Cream (Live At Webster Hall - April 20, 2004) .I think yor first time reaction is so authentic and really felt emotionally, for me my absolute favorite.
Purple Rain has to be your next Prince reaction ✌️❤️🏴 Also I'd be so grateful if you could do a reaction to Ren an independent artist who is blowing all the reactors minds,Hi Ren a piece of Art is how most see it and It's all recorded live please find the time to fit him in he has a trilogy of work called Jenny and Screech (full) I really enjoy your reactions and would love to see your response to Ren ✌️❤️
Yeah. He wrote a fantastic song. And now you know why Sinéad O'Connor's version is the most popular. Hers is totally believable. This was musically great..... but no tears.
Thank you for watching the video, It means a lot to me .

Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" --- just Prince "beasting" on the guitar...
That’s an amazing version of the song. There you have some of THE greatest guitar players of the last fifty years and Prince blows all of them out of the water. For as celebrated as he is, he’s still underrated.

I like the Prince version the best. The rock/gospel feel, the passionate, wailing, goosebump-raising sax solo, etc.
Prince IS my musical hero. There are too many songs to choose from but two of my all time favorites are "Call My Name" and "Shhh". They are well worth a listen, especially "Shhh"!
Also check his Superbowl performance, halftime show 2007. It’s the best Superbowl halftime show ever.

Prince is an all-timer! Any of the hits already mentioned, but if I had to pick one I’m partial to ‘The Beautiful Ones’ off Purple Rain.
Prince was an artist for the ages. He was simply incomparable. You can't go wrong with any Prince music and he wrote so much successful music performed by other artists.
"When Doves Cry" "Purple Rain" "Kiss" "Let's Go Crazy" is a start for Prince
This song was first recorded by The Family, Prince's girlfriend Susannah Melvoin's band. It's definitely worth a listen to hear the original. Lots of great Prince music out there... take your pick.
This isn't a triangle. It's a rectangle. No one is a bigger Prince fan than me, but St. Paul did it best.
@ideastudiowhi8656 St. Paul's version is The Family. He and Susannah were the singers. That's the version I suggested they listen to.
Sinead O’Connor really made the song her own. That’s my favourite one. But Prince was and is a legend.
I have never heard a live performance from Prince where he sang a song the same. Even Purple Rain his biggest song he put a little different sauce every time. ❤ A true artist 😊 I like Sinead the most
Seen him 4 times and it varied from 7-8 minutes to 23-24 min. A thing of beauty each time

There is the version he did which is probably the official video you saw on here and then there is also the version he recorded as part of the band The Family. Both versions are very different, and completely different to this live version. Worth listening to them all.
I see, thanks for the info ❤️

Hi just stumbled in this, and You must see two!
One is Motherless Child by Prince,
And d the second is Question Of U live, with polka dot chest showing suit, short hair version.
They are Mind-blowing and two different versions of HIM! He grew and learned like all of us do and it shows throughout his life!
Prince personified stage presence. "Little Red Corvette" is great. "Purple Rain" and "Let's Go Crazy" show of his exceptional guitar skills.

Hopefully more in the future ❤️
R.I.P Prince. He wrote this song, that’s why this is my favourite. I don’t dislike the other versions but you asked which one is my favourite. He was a genius xx
Thanks for sharing ❤️
react to purple rain music video pls
Prince originally wrote this for a band called the Family in 1985 who were a collection of his former band members. After Sinead O'Conner made it a worldwide hit in 1990 Prince decided to start performing his own versions in concerts from time to time. The official video version also features Rosie Gaines singing duet, but the tone is much more sombre and emotional.
Watch "Still would stand all time" prince.. From "graffiti bridge".. And "joy in repetition"

❤️❤️❤️ Great reaction Bisscute ,, I am a TRUE METAL HEAD 🤘🏼🤘🏼. But I do have to say PRINCE is A Bad Ass
Adore. Definitely listen to the song Adore off the Sign o the Times album. Great vocals!
Yeah. He wrote a fantastic song. And now you know why Sinéad O'Connor's version is the most popular. Hers is totally believable. This was musically great..... but no tears.
