I couldn’t imagine ever being good enough to trade licks with Paul Gilbert. I never was and never will be. But I can always appreciate and respect the talent!
Flexing musical talent (like here), is awesome as long as they aren't flexing egos at the same time. They pulled it off amazingly! Rarely happens in the U.S.
Added value Wave. Added value. This was a magnificent performace but it would not have been 1/10th as good without your input and exuberant reaction. My favorite way to experience a song is with a reaction from you kind sir. So much fun!
I heard a wrecking crew guitarist say Bernard perdie was called in Stevies Superstition session but couldn't find where Stevie wanted him play as in Stevie was all over the place....wow
That Iceman is his new signature guitar. They call it a Fireman, but it’s really an iceman. Paul Gilbert’s stile is always amazing. He also is a mentor to Lisa X.
Paul Gilbert is my all time guitar hero. His guitar is his signature model "Fireman". It was designed and named by Paul himself. Of course he got the idea from "Iceman" , he flipped it.😀 There is a magnet bar buried in the body to hold the bottle neck/slide bar so he can easily go back and forth. I've heard that Iceman is the very first original model made by Ibanez (they were only making copy models of Gibson, Fender). And few years later became Paul Stanley/KISS's signature model with some minor changes.
Good version. I just realized you have not reacted to Yoyoka's cover the the Beck, Bogert and Appice version. Thanks Wave! I also just looked up Paul Gilbert. I did not know he was a co-founder of Mr. Big, along with Billy Sheehan (of Yoyoka fame! :)
Superstition is such a great song with a funky funky groove. It's been remade a lot of times. This is fantastic. Also the Stevie Ray Vaughan version is excellent. I also love the Jeff Beck version with his short lived power trio Beck,Bogart, and Appice. Jeff Beck is actually the co-writer with Stevie Wonder of Superstition.
Jeff isn't the co-writer of Superstition. That said, Stevie wouldn't have written it if it weren't for Jeff. Jeff actually started banging out a beat on the drums, and Stevie came up with the riff, and eventually the song. Stevie gave the song to Jeff, but Jeff got into a car accident before he could record it with the Jeff Beck Group 2. Stevie was pressured by Motown into recording it because Superstition. Stevie gave Jeff a couple of more songs but neither was as great as Superstition. Jeff eventually recorded it with Bogart and Appice. Yoyoka covered that version. Decades later, Stevie and Jeff played this song live. Well worth a view. (Jeff is my favorite)
Thanks Steve and Wave, great choice / job! Now, all we need to see is an improv/jam session between some combination of , or all of, Kanami, Miku, Midori, Miyako and Ryunosuke Yamagishi. And of course YOYOKA or Akane will be our drummer of choice, with MISA on bass to back them up. Make it happen WAVE! Would be EPIC!

I’m so glad to hear that! Thank you Chris!

The trend continues.. i was wrong again! 😂 But that's really interesting and cool! Thanks for the insight!

If you like some virtuoso guitar playing check out Paul's other band Racer X. Some of the craziest guitar you'll ever see.

@@ronniebrucehalford8396 it all depends on which article or interview you read .
Have you seen the other cover songs? Especially the Queen cover is awesome!
Paul Gilbert is one of the greatest. Racer X and Mr. Big are underrated.
That’s a Fireman bro, Paul Filbert’s signature model, of course based on the Iceman!

Don't know if you noticed the ceiling. Slatted wood. Maybe helps the sound?
It was a fireman guitar or FRM.. why Paul call it fireman ? Because it was a reversed form of Iceman body shape 😂
