What the hell are you on about? Jamie Kennedy is much better than Jim Carrey imo, he's way funnier, and owns the role.. also this film is much better than the original as well, for simple reasons... Easiest one being i'm completely lying this movie is an atrocity, and I cringed watching this trailer just like when I watched it when I was 16 years old, almost never recovered from actually watching the film. I love Jamie Kennedy, but lets just forget this movie exists.
To be fair Jim carrey didnt want to return, over his entire acting carrer, he only been in 5 or 6 sequels

I remember that fateful day in early 2005 when I, settling comfortably into my theater seat for the showing of a different movie, was sucker-punched by the dark, noxious power emanating from the trailer for this travesty. The trauma of witnessing a horrific CGI baby do battle with the charmless CGI dog has never left me, and I sometimes wake up in a cold sweat from the haunting memories.

Well, after an unexpected outcome, Jamie Kennedy finally explained everything in 2021. There's seemingly an unseen archived version that's ultimately superior, and extended, that was forcibly cut down before being overstuffed with special effects and ridiculous moments. It was actually a very cinematic comic book movie that, in Jamie's words, "Became an ADHD clusterfuck" because so much was removed and changed. So beforehand, everything about it feeling like a Joel Schumacher movie was actually intentional and a slow burn with better payoff. Wherever this version of the movie is, if it's still intact, should be acknowledged and seen so we can see why sometimes studio interferences is unacceptable.

Just think They went out of their way to hire and pay writers, directors, producers, executive producers, make up artists, CGI experts, film crew, PR team, actors and lots more people just for this movie.
The only good thing to come out of watching this piece of garbage was that it just makes me appreciate the original movie even more.

I remember seeing the balloon head scene and the scene where the baby stretches and is pulled through the walls when I was really young and it traumatised me. They have been burned into my brain. I didn't know where those scenes where from and I even thought that I had made them up in my head. Now I finally know, boy I wish I didn't. This film looks horrendous.
Let explain to you why:
These things you saw that made you feel traumatized are actually things that go on in a place called Hell.
All these sick hellish scenes in the trailer with body parts being stretched beyond normal HUMAN extension are a demontration of what goes on in Hell with souls that are down there being tortured and just.....suffering.
Hollywood is very sick by showing these things in a so-called "funny way". Bullspit: Anytime you see a "funny" cartoon or film with those things going on. Body parts being enlarged, pulled apart, contorted, and anything abnormal, JUST KNOW that all of that is what is going on in Hell to souls that are being tortured AND DOWN THERE IT AIN'T FUNNY.
Oh, and the reason why you didn't feel right seeing those things is because, your spirit man did not like what is was seeing. It's all spiritual. That's why you were feeling traumatized.

I honestly never had the courage to watch this. The Mask is and was one of my all time favourite movies and I just couldn't risk tarnishing that with this atrocity

I watched this film as a kid back then, and I remember that I hated it. This was one of the worst comedies I have ever seen on the big screen - the jokes were extremely unfunny, the acting was pretty poor, and some of the special effects looked so cartoonish and were freaking obnoxious.

I have not seen the new Ghostbusters, but I am sure as bad as it might be, it is better than this. SOTM is rated one of the worst movies ever too.

If I recall, the dad wore the mask, screwed the mom and thats why the baby has super powers.

masacatior I saw the trailer for this movie back in 2005 and I thought that it sucked after I saw the trailer. Jamie Kennedy is not a good replacement for Jim Carrey and Loki and Odin had nothing to do with the first movie. In fact, this entire movie has nothing to do with the first film and the mere existence of "Son of the Mask" is a continuity error in itself. When it comes to bad sequels, this one is on the top of the list. The last film ended with Stanley's dog retrieving the mask and swimming away with it and that's where this movie franchise should have ended. Some Hollywood filmmakers just don't know when to leave things alone and that's how obvious cash-grabs like this get created.
This film seriously deserved all the raspberry awards it won. Worst plot, worst love story, worst actor. This movie is a massive wet turd. I can't watch this trailer without laughing at how bad it is.
masacatior What's shocking is people actually saw the trailer for this movie and then they decided to go to the theater to watch it. As far as sequels and spinoffs go, I'd compare this to "The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2", "Evan Almighty" , and "Catwoman". The actor that portrayed Loki in this film looked like the brother of Pee Wee Herman and I highly doubt that Bob Hoskins would want to be remembered as Odin in this movie. "Son of the Mask" is a career killer and a franchise killer. It's basically "The Garbage Pail Kids Movie" of comedies.

The critics that give films Razzie nominations don't always watch the movies that they review but with this film, you don't have to watch the movie in order to figure out that it was dreadful. The trailer gives away all of the plot-holes and bad acting.
