Cool vid guys. That video brings me back to my Oama fishing days in Hawaii. Aside from using them for bait for Omilu, I enjoyed eating those buggahs deep fried with some soy sauce, vinegar, and some Hawaiin chili peppers. - Aloha Rob
Aloha love your guys's vids, new to fishing here. What size hook is good to use when using those oamas or any live bait targeting those bigger papio, omilo fishes? Aloha from Maui.
Aloha, Marco! Thanks for the awesome feedback! Usually the smaller the hook the better. In this case we were using a size 18-20 limerick hook and used shrimp. I've seen people catch with bread but not quite as effective. We also use opae or small shrimp that can be caught in the park nearby. Really one of the best experiences is catching bait to catch bait to catch dinner hahaha! Good luck and tight lines! Aloha from Hilo!
Haha we were all eyeing out that balloon fish waiting for one of us to be the unlucky one so I was secretly laughing evil-ish as well. Thanks for watching!
I think if the size of the eye is within regulation you technically could throw. Just gotta be sure doing the right thing always when fishing! Mahalo for watching and hope you get to catch your oama before they're gone!
Good fun guys. I miss Oama fishing.
We love it--it's definitely a memory making kind of experience. Mahalo for your support! Hope your kids like the b-day shoutouts!
Lit video bruh! oama season is the best season! Glad Alyssa and Jeremy are on the team!

The day i was like 20 feet away from you guys!!😭😂
COME SAY HI hahahahahahaha
What kind of bait do you guys use to catch those
White shrimp cut into really small pieces works, or you can use shidosa shrimp from brackish ponds
Is it only particular times that u can catch them or are they always around
They spawn in the deeper waters and come in shore around July-August. They then grow bigger and head back out.
TBD Fishing thanks for relying🤙
