I. Live on west coast now, and my mobility is limited now. I loved fresh water fishing in VT and East Coast. Canoeing and camping was ideal - loved Salmon, trout and and perch. I enjoyed watching you fish on beach- not into ocean fishing myself. I got too sunburned
Hello Eric, thanks for the great video's. This one is on my bucket list. I am not from your area, would need some help finding this beach, any suggestions?
A little of fresh air on flyfishing video!...
I been using the Chesty mount from GoPro. I just got the ActionHat and I want to give that a try, but I've had better luck in the past using a chest mount. Much more stable footage.
@@Eric.Estrada yes, I found it after I sent the comment. Question for you… I am a newbie and would be fishing in Clearwater vicinity and would most likely be just surf fishing, have you ever used a fiberglass rod? Some say this is a better rod to use as a beginner. Now I’m hooked between echo badass and the renegade 😊
@@terririll5999 I have used Fiberglass rods, I'd say it's definitely harder for a beginner. haha. They don't have much "umph" to push a cast in the wind. It's kind of like a subculture within fly fishing. Once regular fly fishing has become to feel too easy, you move on to glass rods. I primarily use a glass rod for trout fishing, as it helps me keep large fish on when using ultra light leaders. I have used it a bunch for juvenile tarpon too, and it can be fun, but it's far more difficult to cast in windy conditions.
You gonna have a boat? West Side of the bay can be good in the winter. Or Oceanside too. Most bonefish will be in large schools in January. So it’s tough. You either find 300 bonefish or you don’t see a single fish.
Unfortunately not anymore. Since this video was published management and ownership at renegade changed and they scaled down immensely. I am still working with the previous development team on designing new rods for my needs and will make them available on my website via limited drops.
Great vid Eric - thank you. I live in Miami (from UK) and have done OK on the paddleboard for snook on topwater in the bay, but havent really had the confidence to go after bones on the fly... this definitely has me motivated! I dont have an 8 weight currently, so my choices are 6 weight or 10.... what do you think...? Shrimp and crab fly patterns a good bet? Thanks dude!
haha, glad you're motivated! Either will work, I would lean towards the 6wt if you have a quality reel on it with a lot of backing. Otherwise the 10wt for sure. Shrimp or Crab are good, I have another video on my goto fly for bonefish if you dig through my channel.
Found your channel after doing some research on bones in and around Key Biscayne. Planning on going down in October. How is the Sargassum in Mid Oct? Is it a problem? Great flies you tie!
Thanks, man. October is very hit or miss. Not a lot of bones around, they are usually schooled up thick in the bayside, not many fish on the oceanside flats that time of year. But it's always worth a shot. If there's piled up sargasm, work the edges for snook and bonefish.
Just found your channel for the first time. Really enjoyed the video. If your ever up in north central Florida and wanna film / fish together let me know. I’ve got two quick questions for you though. Where did you get your fly box and what’s your favorite fly for tarpon?
Cause they would kick you out if they see you with a fishing rod. So I waded all the way out to the spot far enough they won't see me and then set up my rod.
You’re probably right, but after trekking that far away from everyone to get to a spot to be alone, it was frustrating in the moment. Other fisherman wouldn’t cut someone off. But they aren’t fisherman.
ua-cam.com/video/odp3-zMj9Dw/v-deo.htmlsi=bEtrl3n6uJC0nUpJ Your cast could use a little work, it looks like you are throwing the line and working too hard. Let the Rod do the work, check out some of Pete's casting videos, you might pickup some good info and make your casting even better. Not picking on you, and I still consider myself as having lots to learn, enjoyed the video.
Not trying to be defensive, but you're incorrect. I can dump over 100 yards with little effort and less than 2 false casts. You're watching a POV video and trying to judge my cast....What you're likely seeing in this video is that i am using an old Cortland liquid crystal fly line that is tacky. And because it is tacky, it is sticking to the guides and you gotta push it through the guides. It just happened to be what was in my rod vault this day, I wasn't even intending to fish. Was just going to the beach with the family. But I saw how nice the conditions were so I grabbed my 8wt from the rod vault. As for casting technique, I do the bahamian cast, not a traditional cast as I am in saltwater, not in a stream. And we are constantly casting into 20mph winds. Which is how I generate such line speed with little effort and minimal false casts. a traditional cast will not be effective in this environment. My budd Davin Ebanks has a video over a decade old teaching how to cast this way, called "Taming the wind". No offense to Pete, but you should not stop the rod when fly casting in this tropical environment....
What I like is your fast your fast on the canals you're fast on the flats you get the fly there quickly and repeatedly if necessary. Great stuff!
Thanks, man. Gotta be quick! The fewer false casts, the better.
Great video as always Erick. Nice bonefish
Any day you take the family to the beach, and you catch bonefish, is a WIN!
Absolute bucket list trip. Love to see it! Hoping to make a Bonefish video of my own one day.

Hey Eric, finally caught my first bonefish. Thanks for the inspirational video.
That's awesome! Congrat's!
What I like about your channel is you usually get right to the fishing.
Thanks 🤘🏻
Nice work 👍 I live in Orlando and want give it shot down there. Is this Biscayne Bay? Keep up the great videos. I enjoy watching your channel 👍
Got me wanting to make a trip down south right about now.
Come on down!
7:36 that's is bad ass!!!!
Let's goooo
How do you get to this beach? I haven't done much saltwater fishing.
Great video dude, love how you got the eat on video! 🙌🙌🙌
What kind and size of dumbbell eyes did you use for that fly?
I made a video about two months ago showing how to tie this fly.
Dude awesome! Just found you from John B, I’m hooked homie!!! Can’t wait to see more🤙🏽
Thanks, man!
As always amazing video!
8wt grey series is so nice!
Heck yeah man, I love this rod.
Awesome, great video
Awesome! Keep up the good work!
Beautiful!
Mis Florida big time. Live here’s on Maui. We got bones but nothing like Florida. Good for you.

haha gracias. Si hay bonefish gigante por aqui. Pero son muy inteligente. Mas las palometas y sabalo que estan por ahi tambien.
Which model Bajio's are these?
🔥 nice fish

Hey bro how do you access this part of the bay? I’m a local and I would love to take my family here while getting some fishing in
Can you tell me where this location is exactly where you caught bonefish please?
Very good video. U'r good!!
Thank you!
What line are you using?
I made an entire video going over this setup. but it's Cortland's liquid crystal in the guide green color.
Lot of finn raccoon in that renegade 📦
Love the video bro, 💪🏽 keep them coming, what pound test leader do you use for bones?
Thanks, man. I use 16lb flourocarbon tippet

Thanks for the reply. I'll keep an eye out.
Where is this area. I’m in Boca and would like to come there and try for bones
Dang my dude is it that easy lol

Miami, FL

Man I want to catch a bonefish so bad. Especially on fly
Are u allowed to fish there? I always thought lifeguards would kick you out.
they do kick you out. lol that's why I had my rod in a tube and rigged it up once I was way out on the sandbar. 😂
