Jeeze! It's not faired too well in the last few decades, I used to be part of the Security team that guarded the old school and its many houses and workshops in the grounds. Walked around that place for four years before packing it in. And just as a side note, I saved the peace camp when a generator caught fire in a hut near the fence. I had right trouble trying to explain the location to the 3-9's operator....they never thanked me either the miserable buggers.
Hi Alec, Thanks for the tour of the Peace Camp. I stayed at Greenham a couple of times. Amazing times of such connection & caring & power. Woman putting baby clothes on the fence & saying they wanted their children to have a future. Singing with for peace with 30,000 other people. You lose all inhibition when you sing with so many other voices, & really sing. Amazing old mansion. Thankyou for sharing.
I have. Former camper here. Stayed there for around 3 years. As for Shandon school, I’ve been around on the ground floor, but upstairs was far too fragile sadly. It’s an amazing building and it kills me to see it ruined like that. Many campers have been able to get to the roof although I wasn’t as brave lol. There was also an abandoned mansion not too far from camp, and was a blast to explore. But it’s been demolished now. I miss this place, it was a big part of my life for awhile, and something I’m proud of doing. It’s a good place to visit in the summer, but staying long stays welcomes tit for tat disagreements and unfortunately politics gets in the way. It’s sort of surreal looking back at it now though, knowing I stayed there. It’s looking in better shape now than a few years back. Glad to see they finally got the new communal sorted. I was part of the original group who gathered the wood for the build. I’ll never forget the work that day, I’d been drinking heavily the night before, it was blistering hot and we were felling trees and loading them up (with permission) Again surreal seeing other people’s work including my own finished through the screen of my phone on UA-cam lol. I see Jamie is still there bless him. Thanks for filming this video. Brings a ton of memories back for me. Peace ☮️
@@jameshassan8230 Oh really? Wow. I just find it so remarkable how these old beautiful structures are just standing there decaying away. So sad how they’re ignored.
Now this was neat. A nice collection of caravans. Too bad that you couldn't get into that castle. Do you have a abandoned stuff radar ? It's cool cause we get to see too. Cheers to you and umbrellas too.
I was in St Andrews from May 1973 for a year, I must say looking back it was probably my best period of my childhood, most of the staff were good folk, especially Jim (pea) Keenan who was the Gardening Teacher, he was a bit tough on me at first but once he got to me he was very supportive. Not to talk ill of the dead but Mr Donald ( Froggy) could be nasty at times but all in all I have mostly good memories of the school.

Oyster catchers nest in land on the floor. Fantastic looking birds although they look a bit goofie when they are walking around on the floor.
