It's even more interesting to ride a motorcycle through the Whittier Tunnel. They make us go last because, if we fall, the cars can't see us, they said. The two big fans in there make it even more memorable. Your excellent video brings back some memories, to say the least.
You guys are by far the most informative and adventurous couple i have seen on Rvs.pls keep share the nice videos, and its unfortunate to see lesser subscribers of your UA-cam channel, deserve far more then better. All the best
I have missed you guys! I hope you are well. Wow! Parts of this video brought tears to my eyes...so much beauty! I was immersed in your adventure and felt your joy! As always thank you so much for sharing.
What an incredible place to go....... you guys do such an excellent job at sharing the best experience’s in your video’s....... thanks for showing us how great Alaska is!
How incredible was this?!!! Helicopter 🚁 is like taking a ride in your drone!!! Your videos are worth the wait!! Thank you for sharing your journey in such incredible videos! I KNOW this takes many hours of hard work! Its much appreciated
I fell in love with Alaska when I was there, but I didn't get to see all that I was hoping to see. Thank you for fulfilling my dreams and going to all the places I wanted to see. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us, you two do amazing and awesome photography. Thank you again!!
Your discussion on Kokonee salmon brought back memories of 1963 fishing on Chambers lake in Colorado just west of Fort Collins. Chambers lake has been a hatchery release for Kokonee salmon and lake trout for 60 years or longer. When you finish this adventure you should make Chambers lake one of your destinations. The entire area is absolutely gorgeous.
Another excellent episode! I (Diana) have been in a helicopter just once, but I would love to go again! Especially to such beautiful places as in this video.
Wonderful! What incredible adventures on the jet ski and helicopter. Just WOW! I was wondering what kind of camera Tom was brave enough to take out there on the Jet Ski! Gorgeous scenery right by the glaciers and on the heli ride... also enjoyed the interview with the pilot...he had some great insights as to why people live in Alaska. Another amazing video guys - looking forward to more of those Northern Lights! Keep on being awesome!
I live in Fairbanks and I’ve been to Whittier. It’s pretty cool but I don’t like the fact that they lock the doors of the tunnel at 21:30 and you have to wait till the morning to leave...it’s like something out of a horror movie
Once you get home [as it was for me], it probably won’t feel like it is home. Your just,,here. It’s hard to describe after experiencing so much silence.
Loved this episode. Interview with pilot was really enjoyable. Thank you for getting his perspective. Caitlin will you share tge brand of sunglasses you’re wearing with blue lens? look great👍
What a fantastic vlog . You were so fortunate tofly in a helicopter . Does Bob own the helicopter ? Decades agomwhile on an Alaskan cruise I got to fly through the Misty Fjords on a Sea Plane from the harbor in Ketchican . It was great being able to see Alaska from the Air . During the flight the pilot landed in a mountain top lake & he got out and stood on one of the pontoons to eat his lunch & so did I to take pictures & video w/my Sony 8mm camcorder . Before we took off I got to sit up front in the right seat w/the pilot . It was scary while the plane was getting up speed to take off the plane kept getting closer & closer to the end of the lake I didn't think the plane was going to clear the tops of the trees at the end of the lake my heart was in my throat I was so scared it seemed like the plane wasn't going to clear the tree tops but it did luckily . We all had headsets on like ya's did in the helicopter . The plane was an old single engine De Havilland . Also while in Juneau the group went on a morning whale watch in a jet powered boat w/o propellers so none of the sea life was harmed . It was foggy & exciting . In the afternoon that day the group we were suppose to fly on a helicopter that afternoon toa Glacier but the fog never cleared so all flying was cancelled for the day . The helicopter was suppose to land us on the glacier to walk around w/a guide in heavy jackets & other gear . I was so bummed out not getting to do it . I was told it's an experience that I would've remembered for the rest of my life .
Guys I am not sure I like your videos....... since I start listening to them all I think about is to get myself a Camper truck and leave for Alaska.......😁 Congratulations, I am retiring in a year and know know where will be my first destination!, so thanks for doing a specially high quality video series like no others did so far! Enjoy Roger from Montreal, Quebec Canada 🇨🇦
Wonderful video, as always. So many more things and places to add to my list when we take our motor home to Alaska in Summer of 2021! Not sure if we will fit through that tunnel at Whittier though - will make the trip in our tow vehicle! :-)
cant wait till we go in may so looking forward to seeing Alaska can I ask you when you caught the northern lights we was wondering when and where you did it
Hello Mortons, I really enjoy much of your adventures. I was originally drawn to your channel through your detailed installation of your PV and Tesla battery installations. Now that it has been some time, and you've spent time with your current northern adventure, I am curious whether you would consider the Tesla installation again, or if you would choose/recommend the Battleborn batteries instead. My wife and I are prepping to purchase a trailer or small 5th wheel and do plenty of travelling, and do so on the cheap. We would greatly appreciate and respect your input and suggestions. Thanks, Rick P
It really depends on your needs and experience level, the Tesla's are cost effective, but challenging to safely operate . We love the drop in and safety of the BB. Personally I would stick with the BB's unless you need enormous power in a tight space and have the knowhow to safely install them.
I listened to your interview closely as I really wanted to learn about the differences between living in Alaska versus the lower 48. I found it interesting yet can't understand why you didn't ask the most prevalent question anyone who hasn't been there would want to know ...... how do you adjust to the relatively extreme winters ? All the talk about wonderful outdoor adventures but I'd would have liked to hear about the actual length of that season ? I was born and raised in a place that has snow on the ground 6 months of the year and could never do that again no matter how wonderful the potential.
Awesome video! We are going to Alaska in 6 months and will be there all summer! We really want to see the northern lights. What was the date you saw the lights? We want to be sure to stay long enough into fall. Thank you!
That was near the first of September... Basically any time there is darkness and your far enough north you can see them. They are active all year and all day, but if just needs to be dark.
If you ever fly in a helicopter again, bring a lapel mic and put it in the headphone between the speaker and your ear. Easy way to capture the audio from the flight.
Oh, my goodness, Tom and Cait, what a production!!! Seems everyone gets better and better with more and more sights to see and things to do! You guys are the best: ya' rock! Ques: How's the truck/camper holding up? Any changes you'd make? How's the solar system working? Keep up the GREAT work and Y'all Be Safe!
The tunnel opened to vehicle traffic in 2000. Before that vehicles were put on train cars. Green Peace blocked the opening and gave up in the first hour of protest.
When you get to a wrap up video, could you address how it was not being able to sit up in bed for so long? How long did it take to adjust and not bump your head every morning?
Hey Wil, the show is on the discovery channel Sunday mornings called the RVers. Will start airing on PBS this spring too and is available now on Amazon and Google play! :) www.thervers.tv/
Thanks Jim! We had both a phantom 4 pro and magic pro with us. The phantom 4 is my preferred for image quality but the magic is hard to beat for flexibility
Great video as usual guys. Small comment (constructive I hope...) concerning the soundtrack. The imbalance level of the music vs. narration makes it difficult to find a good compromise. The music is too loud compared to the narration. Thank you.
Thanks! It takes 60-80 hrs editing for an episode like this, and unfortunately I got crazy sick halfway through this edit and couldent narrate. Just life!
You probably never do but I think you should thank the LORD everyday for what he has allowed you to see. After all he is the CREATOR of it all. It is his and only his he just allows us to enjoy it. GENESIS Chapter 1 Verse 1 . In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. So that proves it is his and he has full ownership. Enjoy your journeys but give the LORD his due credit.
Great video, but - if you are going to complain about glaciers retreating, maybe you should skip your CO2 spewing jet ski / helicopter "adventure" - and, perhaps, your incredibly "climate change" unfriendly 4x4 truck - just saying.
that Dog broke my heart.... as it is a well known fact that dogs are better than most people. So it helps to think about the hike
Amazing beauty 😊👍❤️🚌🎥🎈🎶🌎 thanks for sharing and safe travels

Just beautiful! ❤️
Worked in Whittier for the summer. Charlie and Dani are great guides. My truck is in your video. Glad you got to see Whittier. Nice small town.
Aewsome! Yes they are and we did enjoy Whittier. Would visit again for sure :)
Being able to fly helicopters and small planes would be a great way to make a living in the far north! ❤️
I have missed you guys! I hope you are well. Wow! Parts of this video brought tears to my eyes...so much beauty! I was immersed in your adventure and felt your joy! As always thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks Tracy, I am so glad you enjoyed it.
So beautiful!!! New Subscribers here. Cant wait to catch up on the other videos.

:) Aww thanks. Glad you were able to see some of AK tho. It's worth it!
Crazy, crazy cool things. I'll never get my wife in a helicopter, but that doesn't mean I can't go. Thanks for the vicarious adventure.
Ha! Very true:)
Excellent filming. Stunning views.
wow! Amazing!!!!

Great video

Thanks guys! After that experience I don't think that will be our last helicopter ride :)
Thanks for sharing your travels!👍
Awesome video Kate and Tom! The videography, narration and music were all top notch.
Incredible! Loved your drone metaphor...perfect!
Been missing your videos. I can't wait for each episode. So envious of your trip. Can't wait to see how it all ended.
All the best,
Pat
Thanks Pat!
Super video, your best yet in my opinion. Great storytelling!
Thanks Don!

Aww thanks guys! We took 2 gopros, a phone and the Sony cx900 on the jetskiis,. Our A camera did not go for sure!
Thanks!

Lol, very true.
This one was so good, I couldn’t just Watch it once.
Incredible footage in the helicopter! Amazing job guys!
... your recording and editing skills shine in each production... thanks for sharing ~ S
Absolutly beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
OMG. So awesome. Thanks 🙏
Just wow. That chopper ride looked incredible.

Once you get home [as it was for me], it probably won’t feel like it is home. Your just,,here. It’s hard to describe after experiencing so much silence.

Well that was certainly worth the wait!
💚Love the video, education, and experiences. Appreciate your efforts & contributions.
:) Were glad you enjoyed it !
Awesome vid guys.
Excellent. :-)) :-)))
Alaska, it's a long way from Washington DC. That's why people live there.
Lol! There is something to that, there was definitely a different way of thinking up there.
Amazing Alaska ! Great capture and editing ! Always a pleasure to look at your videos.

It’s been forever since your last post !
That was an awesome episode
Thanks! Yea we had lots of trouble with this one including getting crazy sick and loosing my voice for 2 weeks which doesent make narration easy :/
Mortons on the Move glad you guys are back up and running !
Merry Christmas

Sooo sooo niiice!
Really nice and you upped the ante with very good science class with animation 😁👌👏👏
Glad you enjoyed that!
Wonderful video, as always. So many more things and places to add to my list when we take our motor home to Alaska in Summer of 2021! Not sure if we will fit through that tunnel at Whittier though - will make the trip in our tow vehicle! :-)
That's not a bad idea, lots of people do that!
Many live in Alaska until the winter hits. Then you have so little sunlight and such cold temps that many over-winter in the lower 48.
I can understand why!
Man you guy's have the best life i wish i could do what your doing i want to go to Alaska so bad
I'm thinking about going to Alaska next summer for a summer job.
That's a great way to experience it!
The most difficult part of this whole trip must have been the editing. I can't imagine how much wonderful footage didn't make the cut!
Ha! You got it :) we have about 12TB of footage and probably only 500GB will be used.
Another great job. Really enjoyed the scenery. Hope to see you in Tampa.
cant wait till we go in may so looking forward to seeing Alaska can I ask you when you caught the northern lights we was wondering when and where you did it

We interviewed for an hour and did talk about that. His interview was great and I hope to put it together for a long form video eventually :)

Thanks Raymond! We're going to try and wrap up the series then cover these topics in some follow up vids.
By any chance will you be at the RV show in Houston?
No we will be at the Rvillage rally they weekend.
It wouldn't let me get to where I could enter the sweepstakes!
Seems to have been an issue on mobile, there is not a button that will take you to a mobile friendly site.
The tunnel opened to vehicle traffic in 2000. Before that vehicles were put on train cars. Green Peace blocked the opening and gave up in the first hour of protest.
wow where is the shot in the beginning of the video at 00:20?
Marathon mountain Seward.
Do you have coordinates or directions to your boondocking spot in Whittier?
we were just at the end of shotgun road, but it was a construction site, not sure its there anymore
Who is the løser that does not like this video ?
Feed him to the bears !
:) Lol, Thanks DV
We were thinking the same thing! (4)
when did you get the truck camper ?
We were in it for the whole summer.
When you get to a wrap up video, could you address how it was not being able to sit up in bed for so long? How long did it take to adjust and not bump your head every morning?
Ha! will do.
Just wanted to ask a quick question, could you possibly tell me when your new TV series start and what network?😁
Hey Wil, the show is on the discovery channel Sunday mornings called the RVers. Will start airing on PBS this spring too and is available now on Amazon and Google play! :) www.thervers.tv/
Awesome adventure. What did it cost you to go through that tunnel?
We fell into class A so $13 that was both directions as they only have tolls on the way in (since there is no other way out :)
Also I think it's interesting they are charging school buses and government vehicles.(I'm a retired school bus driver).
Hard to say what is your "best" video but this one could be it. Thank you! Quick question: Which drone did you use?
Thank you.
Francois Panneton We agree! We’re older so when we turned the TV up enough to easily hear the narration the music nearly blasted us out of our chairs!
Love your videos but why so far apart
Thanks! It takes 60-80 hrs editing for an episode like this, and unfortunately I got crazy sick halfway through this edit and couldent narrate. Just life!

More to come!
