Started with HomePod mini pairs (as a company gift). Figured I’d pick up an Apple TV to see what the hype is about. Never regretted it. I actually doubled down and picked up the HomePod 2 once I realized I could actually use more sound. I’m also already really invested in the ecosystem so that was a big plus. I love the universal functionality, no other company has as much stability as apple’s ecosystem imo
I definitely agree with the points you made there. How has that HomePod 2 been for ya, did you get 2 and link them together or just the 1? Curious to know your thoughts since you have it.
@@semajdenzel I gotcha brotha. So I actually picked up the HomePod pair because I had already had the mini pair which sounded really good. Setup was easy, literally the same set up as the minis. Just like an iPhone, the Apple TV 4K automatically detects the speakers and requests to connect either through the tv or the phone. I was actually a bit disappointed at first because I wasn’t sure if these HomePods were worth the money. But one night, i played some music went into my bedroom and realized that I could FEEL the bass coming from the pods and I actually had to reduce the bass. Those HomePods sounded as good as my old Sony sound bar setup and I was shocked lol That’s when I realized I was getting something out of my HomePods that I couldn’t get from my sound bar; You get Siri natively to the HomePod software so that’s a big advantage for functionality and especially anyone with an Apple based smart home. You get really crisp sound that actually does more than fill a room and if you have multiple HomePod minis you can play music universally from any room (if you have Apple Music, you have a software advantage over other services, since Apple Music has lossless audio and Siri requests typically work better with native Apple apps). I play a lot of music when I shower in the morning so this was perfect for setting a good mood. Now even though I think they were absolutely worth it, it was because I was actually getting more out of it compared to what I already had. The functionality is absolutely amazing and getting the HomePod 2s made me use my tv even more which was a pleasant surprise. The sound is definitely just as good as the original HomePod and the speed with how everything in the ecosystem responds with has been amazing. Side note; I think the image quality the Apple TV provides might not be talked about enough from what I’ve seen from reviews because I noticed a huge upgrade in picture quality when I went from my old Samsung tv to Apple tv

Because I had been seeing some mixed reviews and people just flat out trashing it, but it was on my slate to try as I am slowly leaning into the Apple ecosystem more and eventually will replace my older sound bar with something else just not sure what yet. But they’re definitely on the pickup list for sure. Just gotta few other items in the queue for the coming weeks. But if/when I drop it looking forward to circling back on those conversation about it. Image Quality: yea I can definitely tell the difference in it, hard to kind of showcase on camera no matter what camera you use but was shocked at how sharp it was when using my go to apps like HBO Max (MAX now) and Hulu Live (4K Hulu Original content on a lot of shows and movies) but definitely an upgrade from the stock Samsung apps I’d use.

Siri still isn’t Alexa or Google so if you have smart home devices that aren’t Apple, there’s no real reason to buy 2 HomePods because the smart home functions might get pretty clunky. There’s also the price tag which might be steep af to some and when compared to other NON smart home speakers, you’ll find it’s lacking, but from some reviews I’ve seen some people have said that the sound quality can compete with some high end speakers. If you consider the smart home stuff a plus and just want extra convenience and functionality, then I can safely recommend getting HomePod speakers but consider 2 because with 1 you won’t really get a home theater experience. They fit aesthetically, the sound and quality is great (it also supports dolby atmos), less wires and configuration, all you gotta do to turn the tv on is to tell Siri, there’s definitely a lot of quality and convenience that comes with having them. However, it’s Siri not Alexa and I think that’s important to note
Yea for sure! But not sure how much they can change with the Apple TV, the chip upgrade mainly. But that in itself is already functioning very well. They just released a recent tvOS upgrade which unlocks more ways to integrate with your current Apple devices. I’d be curious to see how can they really “upgrade” the next Apple TV.
The Apple TV 4K Video and Audio output is RIDICULOUSLY better than the Firestick or any built in apps from the TV!!!! I have always used a fire stick and picked up a new surround system and realized there was some issues with the sound.picked up the Apple TV and it is amazing!!! Netflix app has way more Atmos options vs the firestick and even the video was enhanced and I had the newest firestick 4K max!
Cool video. Just a one thing: The other benefit of getting the 128GB version with Ethernet is that it has a Thread radio for smart home automation and Homekit. The base model does not have this. Peace
Nice Job on this video. You provided good to know information. I recently bought an Apple TV 4K 2017 model on e-bay for $45.00 to see if I would like it. It's AWSOME! It's FAR better than the Fire stick. I'm retired now and wanted something fun to learn. So I decided to see what the Apple products are like. Coming from along time Windows user, I'm glad I made the switch to Apple. I really like the Apple systems. I now have a MacBook Pro, an iMac, an iPad an iPhone and now the Apple TV. Can you tell I'm hooked? I would definitely consider upgrading in the future. But for now, I'll just enjoy playing and learning with this Apple TV. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Thanks for making the video, can you please confirm something for me before I make a purchase. If you log into the UA-cam app on the Apple TV 4K, can you see your private and unlisted videos within the app? I ask as our so called smart tv has the youtube app and when logged into it and I select 'my videos' only those videos that are visible, I cant see all my other videos? I have tried this on the PS5 and another smart tv and it appears there must be a limitation with the youtube app on certain devices. The only way I can play my unlisted or private videos is to chromecast the video from my iphone or ipad to the tv which is pointless when the tv already has a youtube app.
So I just tested it out on my Apple TV, and unlisted a video of mine. And it did not show up on the UA-cam app on the Apple TV. So I believe this is what you said a limitation with the UA-cam TV app in which unlisted videos aren’t shown. Let me know if you have other questions, hopefully that doesn’t deter from you buying it, outside of that specific use case it’s an awesome streaming device imo. Thanks for the support!

My 65" Sony Bravia TV is gorgeous for watching movies, but overall a miserable user experience because it runs a slow-as-molasses version of Android, and the remote is useless and I'm limited to the streaming services Sony thinks it's okay for me to have. Apple's second-gen 4KI TV with HDMI connection enables me to bypass the Sony's tuner COMPLETELY and have access to the streaming services I want. The Apple TV unit is small but when you start wading through the features, it's incredibly configurable. For example, it's very happy to send its audio virtually lag-free to my over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones. And after more than a year I can vouch for its reliability. Unless you know something I don't, this device has solved the downside to my Sony TV and allows it to be used as a monitor, with my Apple TV doing the heavy lifting of carrying 4K content from my fiber optic server, upgrading HD automatically, and delivering it at pristine quality to my Sony. Bear in mind, I'm a movie-watching guy, not a sports-watching guy, so what I said above might not apply to your situation.
Agree 👍 And Sony remotes have had bad volume response for years now, so hopefully the Apple will be light speed compared to Sony. I'm in the process of having my A80J Bravia fixed by Sony under warranty. I lost Wi fi and Lan connectivity, so Sony sent a tec guy out to replace the WiFi/BT internal chip, but now the Tec guy said the mother board needs replacement, he also mentioned Sonys internal apps are slow and said just get a stream device for now. So everything else works on my Bravia. I'm gonna now go down to BB and utilize the Apple for now and may ditch the Google platform or have both once it's fixed. 🤞

I got a one year residential fellowship in the Boston area. So I packed up my apartment (including my TV) but I wondered what I would use for a tv when I was in Boston. I didn’t want to bring my big tv since I was only going to be there for a year. It suddenly hit me. My 27” computer monitor had an hdmi port so I could hook up my Apple TV to it. But then I remembered that the monitor had terrible sound (which I later realized I couldn’t control with the Apple TV remote). But again it hit me, I had a HomePod mini that I was using in my bedroom (not for music but for Siri commands). So I decided to bring that with me too. I didn’t have a chance to test everything out before I left. But now that I am here it is working like a dream. I hooked up the Apple TV to the monitor and then I used the HomePod mini as the sound source. Again, my cobbled together tv setup worked like a charm. The sound from the HomePod mini was perfect. I could control the volume from the Apple TV remote. It turned out to be the perfect temporary setup for the year that I am here. When I get back I will hook the Apple TV to my regular tv. I am now debating if I should buy a couple of HomePod mini’s for the tv. I will need to hear how good the sound is (I don’t remember it being terrible but who knows) before deciding.
I bought Apple TV 4K. For 4K TV where the application cannot be installed. I am a Hifi music lover. Since there is no optical input for listening to music on Apple TV. It is necessary to turn on the TV at every seder. I am sending a DAC from the TV via optical connection. Is there a solution to this?
That I’m not to sure of and not sure of honestly as specific audio configurations such as the one you’ve described is not my expertise. Hopefully another supporter seeing this may be able to assist, but my apologies for not being able to answer your concerns.
I have a Sony x900h and just use the tvs built in software. I don’t see how the Apple TV is gonna boost visual quality. Also what about my soundbar that needs earc and sounds really good with Dolby atmos
Beautiful TV model btw but I completely understand. Just like any other accessory for a TV it’s meant to enhance, may not be the quality for you but could be in a different avenue. For sure! Chromecast is super simple as well and for the price, you cant beat it! When you measure performance against it though Apple just went into pure overdrive with this one.

Unless Apple releases a new one with their event on 10/30, I would recommend it’ll have the latest TVOS available too. What’s your concerns about getting one?

Honestly I think it’s depending on what improvements you’re actually looking for them to make, in playing some of the Apple Arcade games (not pictured in the review) they ran waaay smoother than I expected. I’m not to sure that the improvements that may come, will solidify the Apple TV as a true alternative to console gaming or rival that of a Nintendo Switch for example. So to answer your question I’d say get it now and then wait and see if they improve it to your liking, hope that helps thanks for watching!

I can see the dilemma for sure, it’s so many various “streaming options” that causes that problem. The PS5 is powerful system so you can’t go wrong with using it, the APTV4K just has some benefits that may not even be beneficial for you specifically ya know? Completely understand, apple tends to find a way to force you to have to buy certain accessories. But they’ve been like that since maybe the IPhone XR, 11 & SE when they started to remove the power brick from the box and made you buy it separately. Not sure why it’s that way but can be frustrating for sure
the AppleTV 4k 3rd gen is prob one of the most if not the most powerful microconsole/set top box out there since it has a 1.7 tflop gpu, that's more than double the flops of the 2019 nvidia shield...why hasn't nvidia updated the shield specs yet?🤔, they could easily put their 5.3 tflop tegra orin 64 GB SoC and easily beat apple's current apple tv

It is necessary to turn on the TV at every seder. I am sending a DAC from the TV via optical connection. Is there a solution to this?

I have a Sony x900h and just use the tvs built in software. I don’t see how the Apple TV is gonna boost visual quality. Also what about my soundbar that needs earc and sounds really good with Dolby atmos
Beautiful TV model btw but I completely understand. Just like any other accessory for a TV it’s meant to enhance, may not be the quality for you but could be in a different avenue.
But my go to saying is “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” keep using the built in apps if it’s proving what ya need! Thanks for leaving a comment!
I almost got one but then I found out you can’t download shows for offline viewing like you can with apps on the iPhone and iPad. Missed opportunity.
Ohhh okay, I gotcha! Maybe it’s something they’d think about doing in the next release of the Apple TV.

Apple TV finally making a case to beat out Chromecast.
For sure! Chromecast is super simple as well and for the price, you cant beat it! When you measure performance against it though Apple just went into pure overdrive with this one.

Hmmm before I answer tell me more of what you’d be using it for specifically, just casually watching Netflix, using for home theater system, etc. and from there I could tell you “Yea or Nah, let’s find something else”

Unless Apple releases a new one with their event on 10/30, I would recommend it’ll have the latest TVOS available too. What’s your concerns about getting one?

Do you think that in the next Apple TV they will improve the gaming? I want to wait because maybe in 2024 they will improve gaming in the Apple TV.
Honestly I think it’s depending on what improvements you’re actually looking for them to make, in playing some of the Apple Arcade games (not pictured in the review) they ran waaay smoother than I expected. I’m not to sure that the improvements that may come, will solidify the Apple TV as a true alternative to console gaming or rival that of a Nintendo Switch for example.
So to answer your question I’d say get it now and then wait and see if they improve it to your liking, hope that helps thanks for watching!

I can see the dilemma for sure, it’s so many various “streaming options” that causes that problem. The PS5 is powerful system so you can’t go wrong with using it, the APTV4K just has some benefits that may not even be beneficial for you specifically ya know? Thanks for watching!

It be a good idea if Apple and will review it tell you that you need a special adapter to charge the remote for my Tv box on Saturday That ordered two items just charge The remote. Doesn’t say on the box doesn’t feel any advertising a little bit of a rip-off and very annoying
Completely understand, apple tends to find a way to force you to have to buy certain accessories. But they’ve been like that since maybe the IPhone XR, 11 & SE when they started to remove the power brick from the box and made you buy it separately. Not sure why it’s that way but can be frustrating for sure
the AppleTV 4k 3rd gen is prob one of the most if not the most powerful microconsole/set top box out there since it has a 1.7 tflop gpu, that's more than double the flops of the 2019 nvidia shield...why hasn't nvidia updated the shield specs yet?🤔, they could easily put their 5.3 tflop tegra orin 64 GB SoC and easily beat apple's current apple tv
NVIDIA to me is like the superhero who doesn’t really know their own strength, like they could really dominate but choose not to and be passive haha
