for me, i use the phlog with the detonator and back scratcher. high sustainability, damage, and mobility (detonator range and phlog crits, increased health from med-kits, and det jumping)
Soldiers and demos have an even better tool against phlog pyros:
- No airblast
The lack of Airblast also makes you very vulnerable to Demoknights...
...unless you're using the scorch shit because that stupid fucking stun will keep you safe from Demoknights at no cost.
Plus if you’re using the phlog and try to kill a pyro when you have no charge, 2-3 Dragons Fury shots kill you quick, a few blasts from any class’s stock shotgun/reskin and yer dead, and you can no longer reflect sentry rockets so you can die to any level 3 in seconds. No airblast makes any pyro pretty weak.

I'm saying that the phlog is OP but only when paired with the scorch shit, but as a phlog pyro you're weak against classes with a range that can be outside of your flames, which incluses the dragon's fury, stock shotgun, sniper rifle, sentry gun, etc. but also, 2 shots from a dragon's fury, rocket launcher, or grenade launcher make any phlog pyro more dead than valve server competitive mode. are you so stupid that I have to spell out every minute detail?? boi.

I honestly believe that the philog is a balanced weapon because of the balance of downsides and upsides, its pretty much like the soda popper and the front tier justice
I think its underpowered because Airblast is just THAT good
Hell, if youre good enough you can juggle a Phlog Pyro until they run out of charge

@@drillbitz2816 i forgot to answer this the other day but flame spread is shorter of the other Pyro is running towards you, I've never managed it with 0 damage but I have juggled Pyros until they run out of Phlog with enough life left to win the duel later, or more often just survive till someone else kills the Pyro

The scariest thing I’ve ever seen in this game was two medics on my team, one ubered the other and the ubered one meleed the whole enemy team to death

I completely agree that the Pholg is not over powered. In a vacuum, this weapon is never over powered, i would rather say it is considered a throw away thrower. It had a limited range, so any class that is Pyro’s speed or faster can stay fairly well out of his range. Without a healing factor or medic, pyro with phlog will not get far, unless the team is rolling the enemy. Now, with the Scorch or Detonator, this flame thrower can gets its fire up super easily without Pyro putting himself at risk. However, it is still difficult to say that even this combo is broken, because pyro only has crits on his thrower. You have a high burst damage gun, and this in a land without medic, is more of an equivalent exchange. Pyro can get mowed down at this point by 4 classes naturally, which are Heavy, Sniper, Demo, and Soldier. 6 if you count the Crit a Cola Scout with lets say, the short stop for medium range away from pyro, or the Amby/Diamond Back for Spy.

No you don't use the phlog with the scorch shot. You use it with the jet packs. After you get the meter filled, you jump into the middle of the enemy team and burn them all

Jet pack is literally the worst weapon in the game. Holster time is too long, you're a sitting duck.

Yes phlog does have guaranteed crits mode, but you need to do burn damage to enable it. And the scorch shot is excellent at dealing burn damage, and at range. Do you understand it now?

How to complain about the scorch shot without doing a video on the scorch short:
The Phlogistinator is just a flamethrower that can crit but cannot airblast. To counter a Phlogistinator, just exploit that weakness of no airblast.

It's perfect if you set an ambush while a medic heals at the point so you can build up mpph at the point but hidden and once the Uber is ready and the mpph is ready you can destroy
that's how TF2 weapon work you killed the bad players so you can kill the good player
Ways to beat the phlog. 1. Play sniper. 2. Play engineer. 3. play natasha or brass beast heavy. 4. dont run like a dumbass at the phlog pyro. 5. play demoman or soldier and sit at a high spot where he cant get you.

Fun fact for people who don't know: phlog charges from fire damage, gas passer can charge from _any_ damage, and you don't even have to deal damage.
I think the simple solution to this is to make it so that the scorch shot fills up the bar at quarter of the speed that it does now.
The Phlog when used at its maximized potential sucks ass to deal with but when used without a medic up their ass. There is no in between, it’s just either obnoxious to deal with or pathetic to witness.

The scorch shot and the Uber medics are the thing that pushes the phlog into overpowered territory. Even if you nerfed or removed the scorch shot, uber medics are still so willing to ruin the enemy team's day by ubering the phlog pyro. If you're a medic and you uber a phlog pyro you're going straight to hell with him

As a phlong player i agree, i build up Mmmph way to quickly with the scorch shot, i still use the phlog and pyrojack but i switched scorch shot with the flare gun

This is my pyro loadout and i didn't expect it to be that OP lol, i use the Powerjack to run back to Spawn and the scorch shot to taunt kill for instant mpphh or do easier jumps lol

I think it should come with extra knockback vulnerability(when crits are active) so you can send the ubered phlog straight to orbit with a loose cannon lol. That way it would probably be better to use a quick fix Uber to negate knockback but still be killable.
Its called spamming stickies or pipes and rockets at them from a good distance

The phlog in general is just lazy weapon design, it always has been. It a crit gimmick in a class that has way too many crit gimmicks.
When I see a Phlog, I see a Gravity Gun. I would have played into that.
A well time reflect grabs a projectile and then slowly build up power in it the longer you have it held down until eventually it converts the projectile into a full crit. The projectles released from the Phlog would always fire perfectly straight (That's to make reusing the projectiles easier) However, if the pyro hold the M2 button down for too long, the gun breaks the Projectile it's holding down into Ammo that is then dropped from behind the pyro.
It can also absorb status effects from players and the same principle applies there however the difference being here that if the pyro holds the status effects for too long, it converts them into health kits taht are dropped behind the pyro.
The downsides would be -35% damage and no Afterburn of any kind.
It would be "THE" support flamethrower at that point. Pybro would benefit the entire team, not just the engineer.
