Good honest review... it looks like a great little tent but like all tipi designs, lacks good volume at the perimeter. I appreciate you mentioning this, I have had great service from backpackinglight and your integrity is refreshing .
Air flow and I've used in driving rain in this setting and can assure you that the gap between the inner and outer, plus the bucket groundsheet takes care of those worries.
I've got the 2015 model I've used it 4 times now twice in calm conditions and twice in stormy conditions and this tent has stood up well in the wind without any guys, I must admit I do use delta pegs which make it stronger. The next time I'm out in it I'll do another video review on it. Can't wait to use it again atb Daz
How does this fair with condensation compared a a conventional tunnel tent, I presume you could raise the fly off the ground or just one side for more ventilation?
Exactly. You can also unzip the upper part of the door which helps if there's likelihood of a heavy dew. There's much more flexibility in a shelter like this compared to a tunnel tent.
Check out backpackinglight.co.uk the UK stockists. It is more stable with 2 poles linked, which are stronger than the solo Luxe Walking Pole, or you can buy the 163 tent pole which is designed for the job.
Thanks for the great review. Be interested to see a 2015 review. Any chance you guys could do a Sil Speedlite overview? I'm interested in it but theres literally no reviews out there. Cheers.
Could you please put up a vid of actually how to set the v4 up for the first time . The overview didn't help much and I'm having problems settings mine up for the first time. Cheers
Yes, the outer goes up first and inner clips into place. During the day you can unhook the inner from the top and sit on the bedding which gives you all the floor space to use.
Just recieved my Lux Hex Peak in the mail. Everything arrived in excellent condition. The one thing I liked about doing busness with backpacklight.co.uk, is that the fine folks there offer excellent service. They are eager to do busness with you, and they want your busness! Fine folks, great products, and great service what more could you ask for.
My 10 year old Golite Hex 3 has twice the floor space 6 inches taller ( uses a trekking pole with a supplied 12 inch alloy extension piece), is more water proof and yes its heavier at 2.2 kgs but can sleep two easily and for one its a mansion by comparison.

This might be a silly question but why is the outer tent so far off the ground or it looks like that . Driving rain could be a problem

Looking to get one but can't find the info I need - do you need two walking poles (joined together) or is one enough?

It doesn't come with a tentpole? How weird is that?
Anyway, lovely tent :)
Quite common for lightweight trekking tents actually
can you set up the outer first and then construct the inner under cover for setting camp in the rain?
