Make sure you tell the seller to double check the address on label. All major shippers will take a picture of the label created by the seller. Make sure you get a copy.
Hi Gregg just got started yet with photography and your video helped my a lot. I will first start with vintage lenses before getting into the new expensive lenses. Thanks for your advices and keep shooting, you inspire me to keep going out and shoot Greeting and Sub from Germany
Very good tips here. I'd say going to a camera store for getting used camera lenses is a good option. You can see what you are getting. Cheers, Gregg! ✌️🇨🇦
Hello Gregg, coming from the other side of the bargain, I've come across several vintage lenses. They all look good to me. Close examination, without magnification, reveals no scratches or damage to the body or glass, auto/manual stops seems to work well, aperture seems to snap quickly without any sticking when the pin is pushed and released, focus is smooth. So, my question to you is what is the best way for the non-professional, non-photographer to describe lenses to make sure that there is no misrepresentation of what is being offered for sale. Thanks from Detroit.
Nice good video Gregg! I have seen some lenses from Japan in 45 or 70 usd but I'm not really sure is scam or not I will try to apply those steps to avoid be scammed.
Yes, I do, but it's really random for what they flag at customs for import taxes and what they let through with no import duty taxes. I've had some lens purchases from Japan come through customs here and no duty required

@@GreggMcLachlan thanks for the info! It was hard for me find some data about the import taxes.. last thing, don’t wanna abuse of your kindness 😅. When you get caught with taxes, it was too much? Reasonable? What % of the purchase did represent?
Thank you for the video!! I'm interested in buying a lens on ebay. But, I'd like to first make sure I can get it repaired by an authorized Nikon dealer, if it ever breaks down. I can't figure out how to use the serial number to determine that the lens was intended for USA 🇺🇸... as opposed to an international version.
Thanks Graham. Once you have a lens picked out, call Nikon and ask their repair dept. I had a Nikon 70-200 f2.8 zoom I bought and I went to Nikon headquarters and the repair told me that unfortunately the lens was not repairable because it was too old (I wanted to have an element with fog replaced)
@@GreggMcLachlan thank you. Do you know of a way to make the determination before I made the purchase? (Assume there is no box, nor paperwork. I just have an image of a lens with the serial number.)

Too new to have your confidence. Good video

I got my used Leica 100-400 at Henry's for a great deal 👍
Nice video! i just scored a lumix 25mm 1.7 for 100$ on eBay!
Woah, that's a fantastic deal!
Bought a sigma 8-16mm on eBay, & the autofocus didn’t work.
I told the seller and he fully refunded me and told me to keep the lens for free LOL.
Yes! I've had that happen a few times too
Great video! Thanks from Peru!
Thanks Jesus!

I have bought from Japan and have used my tips and had no problems. Good luck!
Good tips mate! Greetings from Argentina..
One question, did you buy some lens from Japanese eBay mega sellers ?
Yes, I have. No problems with the sellers I bought from. Just be sure to ask questions
@@GreggMcLachlan thanks for answering! One last thing.. I’m not sure where do you live but, do you have import taxes there? What about that?

Hey Gregg , awesome video! Thanks for that! Can you share any dealer on eBay you’d trust ?
Thanks! I always look at ratings and try to shop within my country location 👍

@@GrahamSEdwards Yes, serial number and focal length is all you need to call Nikon and ask them
@@GreggMcLachlan awesome! Thanks! I sent in the request to them.
You recomment to buy lens at ebay or no, because some store told me not to buy it at ebay?
