Guy Pearce was the star in the finale. Rather than just give him a scene or two, the producers made his character a focal point and Pearce stepped up and delivered. As fun as it was to see Kylie and Jason make an appearance, it amounted to nothing more than cameos so having Mike be front and centre alongside Jane (Annie Jones) was a special gift to longtime fans of the series.
Absolutely. He and Annie Jones made the finale even more nostalgic and amazing than it would have been otherwise. I loved it. Made me really miss those 80s episodes because they were so much fun, so now I'm watching some of those episodes again on UA-cam. If they were being re-run from the start somewhere, I'd watch them again. It's been 30 years so it's not like I remember everything!
I stopped watch years ago but love seeing the old cast members and I would watch from the start in a heartbeat... just took me back to being a kid in the 80's again
Absolutely love Guy Pearce for putting his Hollywood ego aside and getting really stuck in for the finale. Not just a cameo, but he really put a lot into it and made it a great show and fitting end. Superb.
He is one of the nicest guys u can meet. He use to come into my work all the time at a bp servo in geelong. His favourite chocolate was a king sized TimeOut. One time I asked him if he would sign something for me. He said he will come in tomorrow. He came in and asked if I had the stuff. I gave him a Priscilla Queen of the Desert dvd and an old Neighbours card of him. He said can’t believe u kept this for so long. He signed them both and made me very happy. He doesn’t come to the store anymore since he moved to America/Netherlands. He is a great GUY!!!!
Back in the day he was playing with a girl under the water at nunawading swimming pool in front of 40 children. So don't talk to us about this idiot lunatic. He was an ego maniac.
I can see that he's a genuinely nice bloke! Some famous people are disappointing, but some are as nice in real life as they appear on TV. I was lucky to have good chats with Michael Palin, Stephen Hendry, and Phil Lynott back in the day.
Class act! He didn't have to do any more than a "phone it in" cameo, but he took a substantial amount of screen time with the other cast members and was incredibly respectful of the show, A big Shout out to the wonderful Annie Jones too. Their scenes together were just absolute gold, and had me in tears. My only complaint was that I wanted so much more Mike & Jane story, becasue I was so utterly invested in the wholesome rekindling of their love.
What a lovely ending for Mike to end up with his true love Jane (Annie Jones) who played Jane so well it just felt so right to have Mike come back and sweep Jane of her feet again now and forever really wonderful

With a lot of the original cast members coming back to Ramsay Street for one last time, neighbours will have the send off it deserves. But I’m sad to see it ending, and wish it wouldn’t end. That’s life though, but maybe down the line it might be brought back in a different format with the same feel, if that makes any sense.
