I remember the night you arrived. When I saw you parking at Troy’s, I worried that there was a huge issue on your lot. Im glad that there wasn’t. It was such a pleasure meeting you in the morning.
I'm glad you guys made it! We once got stuck in the snow on a back road around 11pm. We probably had no business being on that road in the winter, but it was one of the first few times we went out with our teardrop and were maybe a little too excited. We had been trying to get ourselves out for about an hour as I started losing hope. Out of nowhere, a group of college athletes came barreling down the road (they had ben 4x4ing) and kindly offered to help. With the added strong legs, we were able to turn the camper around and re-hitch to get ourselves out of there! We were incredibly grateful because we didn't have heat in our camper yet and would have froze in the negative temps that night!
We did our best to get there before dark. I strongly urged stopping at a camp ground along the way. Mike loves our property and felt confident he could park it. It was a simple park during day light.
Just wait until you head back to MI. 64 in KY is so bad we went airborne over a pothole and our RV door opened! No one honked at us to let us know. 30 minutes later, we pulled into our driveway and noticed. The folding stairs kept everything from flying out! The door locks were still engaged so it would not re-close until we unlocked them. Planning on going camping in March in KY and we are going to avoid 64.
Great info. As for your driving skills we don’t have a problem. Traffic in the opposite direction is moving right along. Winter weather hasn’t let up yet.
May I suggest reflecting flags or flexible reflective flag poles or better possibly solar-powered lights like those they advertise on t.v or here on UA-cam.
We had to back into a spot in the rain at a Harvest Host, one time. Not fun at all. If I could’ve turned off the truck’s backup lights it might have helped. Couldn’t see the flashlight because of the glare. Glad you made it safely.
We all agree. The speed just sneaks up on you. More stopping to take a break is always a good idea. I feel guilty not taking a turn at driving. He wouldn't have wanted me to drive in the rain if I had offered to drive.
We do keep busy. Remember we have family in Nashville. Every year we revisit selling our rental property. Two of our grown children love spring break at our condo.
It takes a lot of *alls to leave Florida to go to Tennessee this time of Year so Congrats!!!! Being sarcastic! bi said that because leaving warm beautiful scrumchis Florida....awwwww
I'm sorry, I'm just going to say for both of you being seasoned RVers, I'm disappointed with this video. 1) the speedometer was reading 76, on a rainy travel day. Unsafe driving pulling any camper oo any size at that speed in those conditions. 2) No reason to arrive in the dark. Stop someplace safe and travel to your destination the next morning. 3) If you knew that ice was expected, why in the heck didn't you wait for nicer Temps. This is a bad example that you have set for New Rvers.
For you to being elderly, y’all sure do have a lot of drama and heartache in your lives. Are you sure this lifestyle is for the both of you at this age level. And such a big rig. How can somebody like you two at your age bracket handle this. Hell, I am younger than the two of you and I wouldn’t wanna have to do this. I’m just saying. I love the both of you very much and respect you by the way, but my goodness.
I'm suprised you would travel at 75 plus MPH in rain pulling your 5th wheel.
Great advice! Years ago I though I could back up anytime. Well I hit a tree costing me $1700 of repairs. I learned that lesson a long time ago.
That was a hard lesson'

It was a pleasure meeting you as well.

That’s why it’s safest to arrive in daylight. Glad you didn’t get stuck!
It's all about the experience!! I have that on the back window of our Airstream!
Mike, have you thought about some of those fiberglass poles the snow plowers use to mark the drives? Just a thought. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
That sounds like a great idea.
Dog doesn't care he is with Mom and Dad with a full belly.
Glad you made it there safely. I make it a point to never arrive in the dark. You taught us the 3:00 / 300 mile rule!

@@jenniferwendland8581 I’ll bet you did! In the end you are safe, and learned a valuable lesson. Happy camping you two🙂
Widening your road with some item #4 Stone would certainly help

Thanks for the warning!

Great suggestions.
"Are we having fun yet????" Thanks for the laugh. I would have pulled off the road into an RV park. Why be miserable?
We really try to stick to no parking in the dark.... lol, best plans have a a habit of failing

Thanks for sharing.
Love your channel! Mike, please slow down 76mph on your digital speedometer too fast. 🌧🙏
Agree!
To prevent dragging when leaving the storage area, just approach the road at an angle. Same thing when entering the area. Safe travels.
He was at an angle. Only one side scraped. Maybe more of an angle was needed. Next time more of an angle. Thanks for the tip.
Think you will need a concrete pad for that rv.or a yard lite
Be careful, driving 75 in the rain?

That drop is no joke. Wonderful property. We’re considering something like it. May I suggest some markers down that one side of the lot? Enjoy Sir!
bit of a lead foot there.. doing 75 in those conditions with that weight behind ya..?
It's hard to be good.
@@jenniferwendland8581How many feet does it take to stop in the rain pulling a fifth wheel at 75 mph ? A. You will stop suddenly driving like that .
I admire you two for your stamina
Was that lot in Crestview?
Juggling all your properties seems like a lot of traveling back and forth to manage them. Admire your stamina!
We do keep busy. Remember we have family in Nashville. Every year we revisit selling our rental property. Two of our grown children love spring break at our condo.
It's not too bad you're doing 72 MPH🤣 TP
It's hard to be good. The truck is powerful.

We were needed at home.
Hey you wanted a 5th wheel lol.
Mike loves his 5th wheel.
Sorry, I meant 65 . Typo

Agreed. Too fast for conditions especially with the combined weight.
