Stuck Side Door Ram Promaster Easy Fix to Open from Outside

- Anytime I find an easy solution to a common problem I will let you guys know. I met a woman who turned her van into a barber shop and there was no way in except for the side door and she had to tear a hole in her walls for able to get into the back of her van. For me it was annoying to have to go around through another. All I have to do now is give The door a bump and I can get in the van.

This is great, my vauxhall vivaro slide door was jammed, and i just tried this and it worked just like that. Thanks a lot!!!!:)
Great to hear!
Dave is the best content creator on UA-cam.
It’s hard out there for a UA-camr
There I was... cart full of groceries in the rain. My promaster sliding door wouldn't open. I tried pushing from the inside, everything I could think of! Went in my van, found this video, bumped it from outside, then to my shock it opened. You sir, are a legend... and I owe you one.
Thank you so much being a legend is awesome so glad it helped
Greetings from Ireland. So glad I came across your post. I had same issue, had started to strip down the door. Your tip worked 100%
That’s amazing. Thank you for letting me know. I’ve been to Ireland. It was so fun.
The bumping door trick works but you can adjust the side door on the middle runner hinge located at the opposite end of the door handle. You will need an adjustable spanner or socket wrench and a 5mm allen wrench (I live in Scotland and have a Peugeot Boxer so you may need an imperial equivalent allen wrench for the RAM Promaster).
1: Loosen the hinge bolt fitted to the middle side door runner anti clockwise with a spanner/ratchet by a few turns or until it loosens then tighten/adjust the allen screw located inside the bolt clockwise a few turns or all the way.
2: Once you have tightened the allen screw a few turns or all the way retighten the big bolt with a spanner/socket wrench.
This method worked for me and now I can open my side door effortlessly without having to yank the handle or bump the side door.
Wow it worked! I thought my old van was going to cost so much to get fixed it wouldn’t be worth it, you’ve saved the day, thanks!
Great to hear! Thanks
Yooo this helped me out, thank you so much. I couldn't pull the handle out, I tried your method. Instant fix!
Oh hell yeah merry Christmas 🤍 thank you for letting me know
Nice video! We had an issue with our Transit van’s door and figured out the solution by watching UA-cam. Hopefully this one will also help some people out.
Yeah I hope so
I watched 3 videos on how to replace the mechanism and was getting ready to research the parts when I stumbled on your video. I was skeptical but DUDE!! I 100% worked with just a slight butt bump! Thanks for saving me a lot of time and $$.
That is so amazing! Thank you for the comment it’s good to know that the video helped. 🤍
This worked like a charm on my 2014 promaster. Thanks for the tip.
Very cool thanks for telling me
Ha wow I just did this on my transporter and it worked perfectly. Cheers!
Oh man very happy it helped 🤍
Thank you bro, its worked for me!
Thank you for the heads up
Thank you for posting this. It works for me!
That’s amazing it worked. Thanks for telling me.
Can’t believe that body bumping worked lol thanks!!!!
Good deal I'm happy it works I'm trying to think how to express in one sentence that my videos have solutions that every vanlifer will benefit from
Worked, thanks!
Glad it helped
Omg! It works! Thank you Sir!!!!❤❤❤
You're welcome!
Wow! Such a gentle bump. Mine’s never stuck. It’s a 2021 Promaster 3500. What was that about idling too much?
Awesome video Dave. I like the Drone shots. Hope you stop by San Jose Dave and meet up at the Falafel Drive-Thu 🙏😊
Love that idea
Your release wire is probably stretched. Eventually, banging on it won't work either. Adjust the release wire like you would dajusting a handbrrake cable, and that should do it for longer 🙂
Thanks for the tip
@@NoLimitVanLife Turns out, my bloody release mechanism needed adjustment! 5 mins invthend. But what a drama to get the door open first!
Hey Bob how are you happy new year I’m good
This is like a dating video from the 90s. Except there a twist; its a horror movie
He reminds me of that Norman Bates, only this dude is way more creepy looking...Now I understand why he's never been married.
@@MeanPeopleSuckExposed i watched a bunch of his videos and i totally get that vibe. the creepy shots of women is just bizarre. yeah its legal to film in pubic but just because he can doesn't mean he should. he also starts tons of fights and you can tell he has serious anger issues. Glad we can bond over a person such as this. normally id feel horrible speaking this way but he is truly a horrible person especially to children and older people. he tries to fight an old couple in a food-store in one video idk if he took it off.
Could you please elaborate on, "Promasters don't like to be idled"? Thanks.
Linnea of Linnea and Akeelah ruined her cam shafts and they said at the shop that pro masters don’t like to idle So I suspect that the oil isn’t getting up to the cans because there isn’t enough oil pressure at idle
So I've currently got this issue except the door is actually physically jammed. It's only like 90% closed, there's a gap up at the top rear corner, I tried pulling the inside handle, yanking the wire, I have no clue why it's jammed, my gf did close it really softly but idk
Did you ever get this fixed? Curious what the solution was - we have the same problem
That sounds like a nightmare. I can’t even picture it not really sure what to do about it.
You’re going to be the star of my documentary. Yeah, working on it right now
I Hate to crash that dream David, If you are chasing those instagram models, you won’t get them, not with the van!
Sounds like a challenge
Not really, those women only chasing clouds, you are much better with a down to earth, smart and caring woman!
@@angli232 I don’t know any woman who would want to be with a grown man who throws temper tantrums and basically treats them like garbage
Guessing you haven’t had the rear door cable slip off it’s plastic retaining collar?
Oh man that sounds like some fun
What’s a plastic retaining collar? I have the 3500 extra tall extra long. No windows on my back doors. Want to make sure I have no issues.
@@fru3298 that’s just the way I describe it-if you have the rear door not work from the outside, you will discover there’s a cable that can become dislodged from where it’s held in place
This is so stupid. I just bought a used 2015 with 125k. The door has been fine then all of a sudden wouldn’t open from the outside. So I just did your trick and it opened perfectly. I am guessing something is out of alignment or needs to be adjusted.
Totally I’m still trying to figure out how to keep it from happening. I’ve realized all I have to do is give it a slight push and I hear it click, and then it will open. Wish I knew it didn’t take much force before I ended up putting a dent. So happy it helped
I have a promaster also and couldn’t get in… running out to bump it with my bum!!🤣🤣
Did it work on your van?
@@NoLimitVanLife unfortunately no. But I did notice that the back end of the slider was popping out and when I bumped it , it did close it… but still wouldn’t open. I think it is to cold out. It’s like 15 degrees here today! Any other suggestions?
@@JoannePlans The part that needs to be pushed in is in the middle of the door kind of high. Also important is pulling on the handle firmly and sharply. Maybe your cable in the door is more in need of tightening Than mine.
Btw, you look all gaunt, like not healthy
Dream girl? Doubtful bros but it’s ok you’re accepted now
If you’re not gonna be supportive, shut the ef up
