One of the reasons I love watching BMWBLOG videos about new and future BMW models is that I learn to appreciate my current BMW 545e with iDrive 7 more and more. All functions that I use on a daily basis are available on physical buttons, without any need to take my eyes off the road at all. Until and unless physical buttons return I am currently driving my last BMW.
@@RSTX1836 Disagree. It takes ten times longer to give a spoken instruction than to push a button, and it doesn't exist in many languages. And there will always be issues with accents and dialects.
@@RSTX1836 Reducing the cruise control distance in my car requires me to move my left thumb 1cm forward. Increasing the distance requires a 2cm movement to the right and 1cm forward. I refuse to believe that this can be done by voice control in less than 10x the time. Regarding taking the eyes off the road, in order to adjust the temperature I throw a split second glance to locate the temperature dial. I can then look back at the road while moving my hand to where I just saw that the button was and operate it. In iDrive 8 and above there is no button, so I would not be able to move my eyes back to the road until the temperature adjustment is complete.
I just don't get why they admit to having an imperfect iDrive OS8 climate situation why they can't fix it on those cars. 8.5 isn't even available for them, just fix that part and call it 8.1
I‘m missing the direction indicator control - as well integrated in steering wheel as in tesla MS - with same issues…? @BMW don‘t try to make the same failures..
What they're saying is promising: the new digital experience they are building is still being designed around the driver, rather than an autonomous-biased approach. Hopefully they adapt more of the thinking from Lucid as well, such as the physically connected steering and brakes, and find the balance between digital and physical.
I had f01 and g12 and turning on massage was switch the button with my knee. Now in G70 I must click at least 3 times... But buttons are more expencive to produce....
Whaching this 2 things came to my mind : 1- is this going to be release in the coming Next gen m5? 2- I can't imagine how difficult is going to be work in this new cara :( (I'm a tech)

voice control is the way forward

It never understands foreign accents, my personal experience in iDrive 8 😒

@@SS-df5cv 10x? unless you are talking about steering wheel buttons you have already taken your eyes off the road.

Let's see what happens. I'm hoping we get something useful

1. No
@@bmwblog gotcha so prolly G90 m5 LCI around 2027/2028
I tend to agree with the BMW designer on the climate controls, I mean - just how often do you change/adjust your climate control???
He made a good point
BMW has lost its mind. Movies ?! Total BS and dangerous
I mean, I think they took the auto driving cars from Minority Report quite seriously.
But like all movie UIs they look fascinating but are terrible UX
