Lumbricus terrestris

You know how in the garden, after it rains, you sometimes see long, slimy, wiggly things on the ground? Those are called earthworms. One of the biggest and most common ones is named Lumbricus terrestris, but we can just call it a 'nightcrawler.' It's like the superhero of the garden because it digs tunnels in the soil and makes the ground good for plants. When it's nighttime, or it's very wet outside, it comes out to play and wiggle around.
