  • For this trip, I head southbound on the Pacific Crest Trail from the Bridge Creek Trailhead into North Cascades National Park for a three night/ four day solo backpacking trip. I hiked about 35 miles, most of which were in the lush forest. I did get into a little of the subalpine and was occasionally met with the magnificent sight of some of the glacial peak of the North Cascade mountain range.
On a side note, I want to address that my eyes are irritated in much of this video which is why they look red and watery. I'm not sure what caused it but I speculate that because I was in and out of the tree cover so often, I wasn't wearing my sunglasses as much as I should have been.

I'm Christine and after my plans to hike the Pacific Crest Trail in 2020 were derailed, I have decided to spend time living on the road-- camping, hiking and backpacking. #vanlife haha! Some of the time I will be living out of my car (Subaru Forester).

Nice video Christine! Thank you. I guess that answers the question about what bears do in the woods.

Looks like a beautiful loop! Shade at night is a good thing! Smart that you took advantage of the cool water during the heat of the day both to drink and cool yourself. Thank you for pointing out that you need to camel up when water is available and that you need to know where there may be dry stretches you need to plan for....just in case!

I know you didn’t get to hike the entire PCT this year but how marvelous to experience part of the tail end of it without the exhaustion and stress injuries of 5 months of continuous hiking. I think the northern cascades are stunning. Even the green tunnels. So wonderful to enjoy it now. Then when you do the entire PCT you will have these memories in your heart when you see it next from the perspective of 5-6 long months. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us.

This video is one of your best! You filmed and edited brilliantly. It made me feel like I was right there with ya. You are an inspiration to me as a backpacker, video maker and explorer. And you are a fricken bad ass. Can't wait to see more.

I don't usually comment on UA-cam but I must make an exception here. The North Cascades NP is prob one of the most beautiful places on this Earth. I used to reside in Kirkland and attended the U Dub.I think about this place almost everyday since i moved back east. I can't thank you enough for bringing me back up here close up! Few know of this place and fewer still would be brave enough to travel alone in this pristine wilderness. There are some hidden gems here! But PLEASE do attend to your personal safety as there are some wackos almost everywhere nowadays. As an experienced wilderness traveler I salute you as someone who is capable and courageous and who truly loves and appreciates what Nature has given us. You are the 'goddess of the mountains ' !!

I really love your videos...they are so real. It is nice to know that the trails aren't so easy-breezy. I have started being a little more open about when a trail is kicking my butt. LOL! I'm hoping you have found a good place out of the way of all these fires. Stay safe!

Mostly REI nowadays. Amazon can be good too. I usually buy the National Geographic Trails Illustrated Maps. If I’m need on on the road, I pick up whatever I can get (usually found at a local gas station or market).
