- Just about everything you see and hear says no, you can't, don't even bother. But I have found you can, thin wood at least. This walnut is about 5mm and cut quick and precisely. I also tried etching and thats a bit trickier, any fills are going to build up heat quick and the wood goes up in flames so its a balance between speed and power, qpulse setting also has an effect with higher settings being more aggressive.
No, its not going to be as good as a co2 or diode but it can be done, too many nay sayers in laser groups.
Cutting Rosewood with dioda laser 5,5W,
3mm , 1x speed 50-70 /nm power 900. 13 - 15 x speed 600/nm no power 1000
20w can work for 3mm Mdf cutting ?
don't know, I do know mdf is very toxic so be careful if you try
How many watts?
80, don't need much power tho
@@JesseJames-wj8ft thanks for your reply.. i appreciate it! You say 80 watts? Full power (100%) at 80w.. or.. partial power?
@@jerosacoa was all trial & error and don't recall the exact settings, no where near full power I am sure, probably more like 30%. First few burned then I dialed down power and increased speed until they cut cleanly
Is this a CO2 "Fiber" ? :)
nope, 80w fiber laser
@@JesseJames-wj8ft Cool. I just bought a 50 JPT fiber, and was hoping I can mark not engrave round coasters.... I've see some that have been done, but most say you can't.
@@pfiltz probably not the optimal tool for the job but hey, if thats all you have, might as well use it. Been working off the hook lately, when things slow down soon going to experiment some more, many different settings with these fiber lasers besides just speed and power
@@JesseJames-wj8ft Sure. I have a 60w CO2. Finishing up a 1500 pc cork order. Been kind of a slow process, but I'm getting there.
