Ascension was in decent condition before the junkies set tge 1st fire to the room where the priest hang before service.-behind the pulpit. It was messy like must abandoned buildings but in decent shape. I remember McPherson being Needle park as a kid in the 70s.
Hey Philly Captain, great e bike video, talk and more around the Phila sections..Jimmy's was the best for used auto parts..Also remember their great jingle TV commercial..Tootles
I'm 62 yrs old and live in south central PA. Hubby and I lived together for 4 yrs before getting married. We bought a mobile home together, he was 17, I was 16. We also had to pay lot rent to the mobile home park. I believe it was 1979/80. Times were different back then, if you were able to show a steady income (which we both had) you didn't need to be 18. I also had a car loan on a brand new Capri 😁
You pass by it a lot, but have you been to Cantina La Martina at D, Somerset, and Kensington yet? It has really good food. I also noticed you rode by Forin Cafe and Post Haste(both right across the street from Quick Stop), Meeting House(formally Memphis Tap Room), and Nemi (Ann and E. Thompson). All worth checking out, in my opinion.
Bro - if you're gonna tell the same story - take this advice from my grandfather - keep making it better! So... The Big Bambino hit TWO home runs lol - love seeing the old neighborhood - thanks for posting
As you rode past needle Park I seen a lot of spots where the trees are missing near the street they should replace them the ones right there at the end towards needle Park to look good with them trees blooming replace those trees next to the street by needle Park
Went there with a friend who was friends with Taconellis right after they got the new brick oven done. Got a tour of the new oven. Went back at night for a pizza. It was OK, but not really that impressed. I used to get better at Mack's on the boardwalk in Wildwood.
Paper tags are all over Philly. I see them everyday. PA State Police is rolling all over Kensington now. Aramingo as well is a big for staties doing stops on tags.
"Jimmy's Used Auto Parts" ... That commercial, along with the "Molly Meinikie" commercial. And ... Big Marty's Carpets? And let's not forget "Mr. Barstool" ...
Another good show, you should switch it up to pumpernickel once in a while. 😊 🦅
I once drew 'Jimmy' for a Philadelphia themed coloring book 25 years ago and that commercial was from 25 years before that.

Rye toast is #1. I agree. Corned beef on rye is one of the best sandwiches in existence. A true philadelphian.
Nice ride with the Captain. There are some cool murals you've shown us around Philly. 🇬🇧
@@K1LLADELPH1A-_- yes, it's sad that they think it's OK to cover artworks. Some graffiti is stunning but just giant letter tags are hideous.🇬🇧
@@K1LLADELPH1A-_-absolutely right.😂😂
Nice ride through Kensington

I grew up playing ice hockey/roller hockey at Scanlon. I heard the babe Ruth story as a kid too.
Commercials in the 90s were awesome. Vehicle commercials, like every two of them.

You also scooted by the house of former UFC lightweight champion, Eddie Alvarez.
Where did he live?
@@ThePhillyCaptain I believe it was 3315 G St.
Nice ride, Captain.
I knew Jimmy and his wife Ginnie ... very very nice family

Back in the day, there was no need for residents to live in cages by installing ornamental bars on their front porches.
Yeah, RYE!
I can show you where some cars are buried in jimmies old lot. My dad worked there many years.
I wonder if the developers worked car removal into the budget lol
It was clean for one day
Wow
You can't claim Danny Devito!! lol
...and now I've seen a pop machine in a cage.
Toasted rye with butter, gone in one sitting.
Ascension Church is so sad what a shame.
Yo

The clown house is disgusting
He was Crooked Joe because one leg was longer than the other
He worked at Richmond School. I do remind him limping around the schoolyard
