The 787 1.6 is better... I would say ok ... but .. but ... not 100% convincing: the FMC probably is the next step where the developper need to be focused.. also the Vnav still in my opinion not real .. the climb is more like a shuttle Columbia rather then 787 . But .. in my opinion we might we to reward the developer for the continuity of making this beautiful aircraft better and better ...small steps.. but in the right track
Hmm - saw that the 787 had been updated... but after seeing this, I think I will wait. Was hoping it was complete and had good flight characteristics and avionics, as I don't like the MS2020 787, and lack of replay. So still using X-Plane and glad to see you are as well! Good review as always Q8!
No way would I buy this AC and I've watched it from the beginning and it's never gotten a lot of positive comments.Q8's review is spot on as usual. He is honest and doesn't pull any punches while remaining polite. I own the 787 by vmax and for the money it's a better buy. Take care my friend good review
If the LNAV, VNAV, autopilot, and FMC were working I would consider this. The textures don't bother me. I like flying the big Boeings. I think a manual and tutorial would add value to any payware. I hate having to do a lot of searching to startup and fly a plane that I just purchased. I know developers aren't big on documentation.
Hey, it looks like V1.7 has added some major improvements. Would love to see you take a THIRD review of it and see if the changes are enough to recommend this plane!
Just watched a stream of 1.7 - the take off was an absolute joke. Still no realistic TOGA mode, and after T/O he engaged VNAV and the aircraft pitched flat (at only 300'!) to get up to 250kts!! The problem is, Magknight are still completely dependent on the default X-Plane AP. That being the case, this aircraft is never going to be convincing, because default XP AP's VNAV hugely unrealistic, because it uses VS for climb and descent, so there is no intelligent speed protection. With 1.7 they've made it look nicer but it still flies like a dog, where the automatic flight control is concerned.
Thanks for the update, my friend! I will make one exception to the sounds in which I find are not as bad as you stated. This aircraft includes the FMOD soundpack designed by AudiobirdXP (same guy who does the Zibo sounds). I find them not overly done or too loud or soft. Along with supplemental sounds from XP Realistic, I find it very immersive. When the aircraft was first launched, those sounds were BAD! :-). It's great that this one is under active development, and is only getting better.
Thanks a lot my friend for another extremely valuable review. This time the Magknight Boeing 787. Your honest reviews with tons of knowledge, seriousness, insight and integrity cannot be valued enough. Thanks for all your contributions to the society.
I just flew a leg and on autopilot, LNAV completely went of course and I had to vector myself in using the HDG select button all the way to the runway. I did intercept GS on my own to land but other than that, it’s a cool aircraft. They need to fix Ap/LNAV.
Thanks for the video. At least this aircraft had not become abandonware and it's looking promising with the occasional updates. Let's hope Magknight can overcome all the issues you mentioned. For me it is still not an instant buy, but I keep a keen eye on its development.
I wish SSJ continued with the CRJ, but I’m pretty sure that’s over. Unfortunate how many aircraft become abandoned. At least we are going to get a aerosoft CRJ in FS2020.
I have to say I very like this aircraft (it not my main aircraft my main aircraft is a350) but sometime I fly route that a350 out of range I always use this plane and it give me a good experience and when compare to ssg 747-8 I think magknight have better user experience in the same price range I know the magknight system may not advance as the ssg 748 but everything else I think magknight are way better and the sound yes magknight may not have the best sound but it still comfortable enough to hear and fly it without a custom soundpack.
Thanks, I would like to have a huge "study level" airliner that has a modern cockpit. There are only 4 options, the FF A350, this 787, A380 and the 747-800F. And non of them come close to the Toliss A319 and IXEG 737 that I own. Upto now i was trying to choose between the FF A350 or the 787. The 350 seems to be a pretty good plane after the last update. I hoped a bit more progress from the 787 because I like Boeings more ( no clue why) I do not care about the outside, But I hate cockpits with inop switches and not simulated systems. What do you think, 787 or A350 ?
787 is a good plane in constant improvement, almost all switches work, sounds are amazing. If you would wait, the plane will be better and better. A350 is also great, but textures are not perfect, and it does not receive so much improvement as 787. I personally prefer 787.
I tend to like the ToLiss planes - A319 and A321. The FF Boeing 757 Pro Avionics is pretty good as well. ZIBOs 737 seems to be wonky for me lately. And absolutely cannot stand when the avionics do not work properly... as a result, the 747s are still needing improvement. I have the A350 and it is not bad either - it lands well (seems to like me). :)
Probably the 787. If something doesnt work on it, you can be sure it will be addressed and fixed, as the plane is often updated. Meanwhile, it took FF a huge amount of time to add something basic like SIDS and STARS to their A350, and the general quality of their planes is... not the best.
In other videos from "sjoerd" he demonstrated a perfect functioning vnav / ap and appr all working perfectly together. (That center beam really needs more detail !)
Regarding T/D - that green circle was indeed a top of descent mark, which is normally very clear once you filter out all these nav points using MENU button on your ND. Also, you can see how many miles are left in the PROG page of your FMC :) Regarding ILS problems - did you put in freq and crs manually in NAVRAD page of the FMC? This is still a default FMC so it does not work like it does in QW or real 787. Looks like you simply forgot to put that in - you can see on your ND that ILS name was not shown in bottom left corner :) Cheers
I reallt love the 787, but the Magknight REALLY have to make giant steps towards improving FMC and VNAV logic...at the moment the autopilot, VNAV and FMC are the biggest issues, I don't care about 3D modelling as it is right now, it is more than good, texturing also.
Just for fun, the plane is OK, but costly. Having difficulty with pedals and tiller steering. Can’t taxi to runway. So all flights start on runways. Not sure if this is a MacOSX issue or X-plane 11.5 using metal. Your videos are VERY good. Thanks for your effort!
Very nice video, and I do think it will eventually get up to par. However, when you have planes such as the Carenado Caravan EX at $35, the price becomes more reasonable. Here's hoping they lower the price because of this video lol
I haven't seen the FF 787 and I am not sure if it will be released next either. Today, the Magknight is the only 787 that is under active development. Totally your call and this video was made to help folks like you decide.
Considering how FF's planes aren't the best (their 767 has terrible sounds and a ton of bugs and issues, their 777 is just plain bad, and their A350 got SID/STAR support... after two years), I think by the time they release their 787, MK's 787 will be in good shape to compete with it.
Hi I watched the nice video and i want to let you know how to find T/D its very simple. on the prog default FMC page you have countdown T/D NM hallo from Israel

Thanks for a great video as usual. I purchased this about 2 years ago when it was first released. I was initially very disappointed and felt that I had wasted my money, but I'm glad to see that they are continuing to improve the product. It still has nowhere near the quality of the QualityWings 787, which is available in P3D and FSX only (not yet in MSFS 2020). They need to continue working on the FMC and EFB, and on improving the HUD. BTW, how do you engage TOGA? It wasn't clear from your video.
Hey Q8! I got the 787 3 months ago and finally got it to work yesterday! Unfortunately, though, my lnav never works when im in the air, and my heading select doesn't work. if I click select it turns in the right direction then just keeps that bank angle and doesn't stop... could you help? thanks Jayden
Jayden, I just flew with this plane, everything seems to work fine except LNAV like you said. In autopilot, my LNAV completely went of course and I had to vector myself using the HDG button. You have to push the button SEL to get it to follow the HDG select. Aside from that, it is a little hard to control and it responds slowly, but it is to be expected as it’s a big bird.
@@gregthegroove yeah I found out what the problem was, if you're sitting in the first officers seat, then the autopilot functions don't really work, if you put the captains autopilot button on and select LOC and then LNAV then it works.
