Difference between pushing YOUR brand, versus pushing a contracted brand. Sure you can say Nike gear is more “eye catching, and possibly more likely to be bought by subs”. But Rick has the support of over 1Million subs, and that’s no small number.
Rather than entering into a new contract where you are asked to tell your subs to check out Nike’s Merch, he can make his own. AND he can do it the same way his previous contract was with Nike. No need to have a bit in each video talking about the product. Now (if he chooses to do so), he can wear or display his own merchandise throughout the video and not have to sell you on it. Which he said in the video, he loves the openness he has with all of us. He feels like promoting products for pay on his channel is not what the end game is. It’s about simply making good content

I've said for awhile, "Who you give your money to is just as important as what you spend it on." So I hope you do end up doing the merch, and that it works out for you. A UA-camr with convictions, is like finding a diamond in the rough.

I think golf fans in general don't want products pushed down their throats. As much as money is important, I think it's the right thing to do and shows a great deal of integrity. Maybe in the future if no deal, could give your opinions on new clothing arrivals?
Maaaate, that is some unwavering integrity right there. You would have passed up good coin, obviously still love the brand and most of your fan base would have accepted/understood the need to promote a sponsor's products but you still parted ways to remove any perception of bias. Having 3 sons who all played Football (Soccer) I’ve bought a lot of their shoes over the years. I can say the quality has slowly went down to the point my youngest stopped using them because the soles separate from the bottom too easily and much before they are worn. So now he at least wears cleats made in by someone who isn’t half his age ! ( He’s 19 on a D1 scholarship in the US) No great loss if you ask me Rick

Interesting that they’ve moved to an affiliate marketing model for their partners. I wouldn’t have said they need to inflate their sales, but Covid may have hit them harder than we know.
@@kimm3675 Nike sales in 2020 were down 4.38% over the year before. In it's most recent quarter, sales were up by 8.8%. Sales were down by 38% in the quarter ending 5/31/20, which can certainly be attributed to Covid.

After being away from the game for a long time, I've been greatly appreciative for your posts as I return to the game. Nike is making loads of changes, and there's many folks who refuse to wear Nike anything as they have made themselves political. Few want a lesson in social behavior from a garment company. I know my mates have bought clubs based on your videos, and I've personally spent hundreds of hours watching your videos and working on things you've said. As always, keeping your integrity intact, especially as it sounds like a new contract could have been quite lucrative. There have been many contracts that have come to a bitter end like some sort of episode of Corronation Street, so nice to see a grown up approach.

I appreciate your stand for your audience. Its the ONE big reason I subscribe to your UA-cam channel. Example: New drivers vs. 4 year old drivers. Some of new drivers just are worth the extra money vs the gained yardage or accuracy. If its trash you tell us. If its just as good but cheaper you tell us. I applaud your honesty!! Fan Forever!!

I think golf fans in general don't want products pushed down their throats. As much as money is important, I think it's the right thing to do and shows a great deal of integrity.
Maybe in the future if no deal, could give your opinions on new clothing arrivals?

You would have passed up good coin, obviously still love the brand and most of your fan base would have accepted/understood the need to promote a sponsor's products but you still parted ways to remove any perception of bias. Hats off to you Rick, fan for life...or until i shoot 100 and take up sudoku instead.

Having 3 sons who all played Football (Soccer) I’ve bought a lot of their shoes over the years. I can say the quality has slowly went down to the point my youngest stopped using them because the soles separate from the bottom too easily and much before they are worn. So now he at least wears cleats made in by someone who isn’t half his age ! ( He’s 19 on a D1 scholarship in the US)

Interesting that they’ve moved to an affiliate marketing model for their partners. I wouldn’t have said they need to inflate their sales, but Covid may have hit them harder than we know.
As of last summer Nike sales were down 50%.
They went woke.... And sales plummeted

@@kimm3675 Nike sales in 2020 were down 4.38% over the year before. In it's most recent quarter, sales were up by 8.8%. Sales were down by 38% in the quarter ending 5/31/20, which can certainly be attributed to Covid.
Love the honesty and forethought that went into this decision. Vulnerability in all aspects of being an influencer is good.

Respect. Hate the hard sell from people saying "click on this link and save blah blah". Makes me not want to buy it. But someone you respect and like as a person makes you want to emulate then for being just a sound, honest person.
As a parent of a 9 year old golfer who idolizes you, thank you for your integrity. It’s so hard to know who is a good role model on the internet for the young golfers just starting out and wants information about everything golf!
After being away from the game for a long time, I've been greatly appreciative for your posts as I return to the game.
Nike is making loads of changes, and there's many folks who refuse to wear Nike anything as they have made themselves political. Few want a lesson in social behavior from a garment company.
You'll be fine and you do a really nice job of portraying the game the way it should be done. Thanks for doing what you're doing.
