I wonder how long it takes them to realize it's actually over £4.5 per day, and how enraged they'll be when they do.
Yes this has been really annoying me!
To be fair, you have to take packaging into account, and I could easily see £20 being how much they decided the boxes and tissue paper are worth. Thus you could easily set £3.75 as the target rather than £4.50.
Although that's still over a quid more than £2.50.
It'll be another 20 days of the 'not turning the Porsche calendar boxes around' frustration from a few years back.
Because what better represents the run up to Christmas more than frustration and anger?

The fact that so far they've pulled a deck of cards, a bottle opener, a yoyo and a pin really makes these sets feel more like unsold loot crate stocks being thrown into advent calendars instead of a "Build a Playset". Pretty odd since Eaglemoss is known for publishing magazine subscriptions that come with parts to periodically build something like the BTTF DeLorean model.
Based on the promo photos I saw when this was revealed, everything in there is going to be like that. It doesn't seem to have any of the little figurines they do or anything.
I mean he did get an Eaglemoss Sontaran in a overstock box once

Aaaaaaand in record time, we're getting cheap yoyos and ugly pins. That's more like it, haha!
They might have been decent quality for what they are, but I'd still not pay nearly £5 for either of them. Today's stuff was just shite.

I'm concerned that both calendar's manufactures spent most of their budget on licensing fees, and that 90% of the items will be utter shite.
I believe they are both made by EagleMoss, the company that make the really nice models (Star Trek, Marvel, etc.) so they were promising and they might have already had the licence

on one hand you get something new every day. on the other you just paid a lot of money for a glorified showbag with ludicrous licensing markup.
I just realized. No punishment calendar this year. Perhaps the punishment is the fact he paid so much money for each Calendar but all they're probably gonna get is clearance stuff, shoved into a nice box.

When I first heard of these Star Trek and Doctor Who calendars I was a bit disappointed that I hadn't heard of them sooner, since I'm a massive fan of both. I am now glad I didn't hear of them sooner.
Eaglemoss claims "worth over £220" for both of those calendars. I hope they tally it up at the end to see just how far off they came.

Even though every Star Trek fan will already have a Starfleet emblem pin badge, that would have been a far better thing to include in the advent calender. Somebody might actually wear that.
When Ashens said "pin badge" I was sure it was gonna be a Starfleet badge of some sort. There's different insignias/logos for different ships/shows, and my "local" comic book store used to have a whole selection with different emblems for the science, medical, operations etc divisions.
The joys of Ashens' advent, a win from a cheap yo-yo. Have we escaped the horrors of the grass mask, only time will tell!
Only Santa has the power to contain the grass mask. Which is why we carefully count down the days to the 25th when Santa will reseal the gates of the grass palace and we can look forward to another eleven safe months.

I've read a comment from the Day 1 video about finding the two Advent calendars around £70 - £80 online so I'm guessing Dan calculated the shipping cost along.

A battle between my two favourite franchises featuring wobbly sets and rubbery aliens.
Watching these is my only Christmas tradition.
This is now a part of my Christmas Traditions now, looking forward to some good quality Christmas Tat too as the shops have been flogging it since September.

If it was over £110 for the calendar and there are 24 items, don't the items inside have to be considered worth closer to £5 each rather than the £2.50 each that keeps being mentioned? Not sure if I've missed something
I'm sure this will be mentioned on a future day. Stuart is fairly intelligent, but in the presence of Dan he struggles to use more than their three shared braincells sometimes.
I mean, they spend the whole month of December changing in and out of the same outfits to record these videos for us each day. It was silly the first time but at this point it's tradition.

You forget that we're living in a capitalistic society. Why would you give customers products with a value of £5 if you can make profit out of their dumb, unsustainable consumerist behaviour?

Ahhh, it's the festive season. We're getting the decorations out later, there's a Christmas market on the weekend, and it's day two of the Ashens Advent Calendar :-).
What I'm learning is that neither Stuart or Dan have seen as much Star Trek or Doctor Who as I expected

Christmas really became painful when it started being celebrated for the three months leading into December
The borg queen was created as a sort of local processing unit that could act independently of the cloud network for faster decision making.
See they did film all these in 2019 yo-yo from 2018 eh eh eh see! I knew it! Also in the show, it was a bog standard yo-yo so the Gallifreyan gravity detector is bumfuzzle!
Yeah, from about Troughton onwards the Doctor became quite good at just using whatever he had for this kind of thing. Nothing special about the yo-yo.

It would've been great if Stuart got a Star Trek commBadge that just chirped. And not a badge of Michael Jeavons in Kirk cosplay. Also if Dan's gravity tester had a little bit of effort placed on the design. Like make it a festive Gravity tester.
