Have been seeing this big time with Woolworths here in Australia. They have been doing it for ages. You have this feeling of being scammed when you buy from them. And you are being scammed. It has become a legal scam. They get away with it, but nothing is what is good for us all. It’s about what is good for themselves. Maybe it is time we all looked at ourselves, and see that we are all doing this in some way.
Discount is the fascinating name for shopping. Fooling customers in the name of discount. A product's price will increase 75% and give you 25% discount so customers will attract on 25% - 30% discount.
This scam is common in USA. There are so many products you will see either quantity will go down or price will go up and then they give discount later continues on regular price.
Yes discounts are just like deceiving consumer in majority of cases so far brands are concerned. But off season discounts are not deceptive. Many companies off load off season stocks by lowering prices up-to 50 percent and even more.
Kudos Palki. While some consumers know that discounts are deceptive, one would trick themselves into believing they are genuine to have the comfort of not feeling guilty in splurging occasionally. Like you said, I have tracked the price of some of the products I had an eye on and yes, the price before, during and after the apparent festive discounts is the same 😊. But I am glad you addressed the issue
There is a big shopping mall near my place and there in an anchor store selling multi brand store in the mall.... they do the same thing there... especially on goods that don't come with a brand price tag...
Your report needs to clarify if Australia doesn't have the concept of MRP, as in India. Here we check the percentage of discount with reference to the MRP which is printed on the product packaging.
Mall has ruined indigenous shopkeepers , even they are not able to sell quality products, consumerists have craze for malls , elite way of life not sustainable and inclusive .
It's 100 % true. That one is also happening in India, all big companies increase their price double and gives 50% discount in most of the stores.mostly in groceries and daily used items ....
Unfortunately, we have - or do we? - no such watchdog in India to monitor such deceptive pricing bonanza. The Consumer Affairs Ministry should intervene and put into in operation an effective mechanism to deal with such fleecing.
In India, often the price remains the same but the product quantity comes down. People notice the price not the quantity. If the consumer is paying the same for a lesser quantity, then they are effectively paying more.
This is what I've noticed from the past 2 years with Flipkart's Big Billion Days sale: I saved a 43-inch TV, which was priced at 18k. I thought I'd buy it during the BBD sale, but on the day of the sale, it was priced at 20k, and with the card discount, it came down to 18k.
Have observed deceptive pricing on shopping sites. Its simple, just go to your orders and whenever there is a sale check the price of that product, you will get to know that the price ever drops more than 3-4 Rs.
it's common on all Ecom websites. discounts are given on actual prices which have been shown as striked off replaced with reduced pricing. First Cry from Mahindra is a very good example of such gimmics
If the discount is from the manufacturer directly it is deceptive pricing. However, if the discount is given by a third party seller it can be considered genuine.
Discount means not to reduce the or less the manufacturing cost but reduce the profit margin Profit reduce nothing will make the impact to the sellers but Will make impact on the buyers psychologically This is one kind of or major technic or tactics to improve the SALE SALE IS ULTIMATE GOAL FOR ALL THE SELLERS ❤❤❤❤
Same decisive pricing happens in India all the time, but government says Indian citizens to spend and die. Nice move by Australian pm protecting Australian citizens
There are price tracking websites, and also if you are really looking to buy something you would do your research and track the prices. I understand it's more limited to high value goods electronics, gadgets etc not grocery
I have been telling this tactics for the past 5-6 years based on my knowledge & studies... but it's very ironic that the first-post understood this now... it's pure common sense..how could a company then profits so much with such a discounted rates?Do they give customers by making loss for his company? surely not.Ask yourself & you will surely get an answer.
There is not enough competition in Australia because the government allowed big players to buy up smaller stores and now there are too few options in the market. Now the government is having to fix the problem their earlier poor governance caused.
I bought a Samsung phone on Amazon for 11500 rs 3 months ago. Same product is showing 14000 rs and after discount 12500 rs. Our big billion sale to fool the people.
Even Amazon and Flipkart big billion sale also fake discounts.... E.g if you try to buy Samsung A55 till yesterday for old phone exchange price was 12k and aa discount sale today the exchange price dropped to 7k, and instead of that they give bank discount or other offer of 5k . In the end buying price will be same.
Consumer courts aren't strong in India what's the point of talking fake discounts, over pricing, cheap quality products for normal prices , adulteration etc They say upto 50% discount or cashback but give only 1% discount/cashback on all products & still many people are getting fooled in India 😑
Branded Wallet in flipkart is 1100rs but same wallet on myntra is 1400 rs after discount and it's now forcing me to shop 5000 rs on credit card so that i can get my wallet for 1150 rs. This elevated price scam is so common now.
BECAUSE they are doing it, the govt, will investigate.. BECAUSE they will be found guilty, they will be fined.. BECAUSE They will pay the fine they will be ""out of pocket"" a few million. BECAUSE they are a big business with shareholders, they will need to get it back.. BECAUSE they need to increase the""take"" to get money back they will increase prices.. BECAUSE of this,,, THE PRICES OVERALL WILL INCREASE FOR THE PUBLIC.. BECAUSE this is the way business is done.. BECAUSE they are bigger than the government the authorities will say nothing.. AND THINGS WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL..
Flipkart do it on regular basis 😁
We are all idiots 🎉
Amazon as well😂
Flipkart did the same. They increased pixel 8 prices from 58k to 72k just before annual sale.
Flipkart and Amazon were not indian origin
But in india also this is happening, but where is price history in india?
Several apps available with price history in india too.
Use price history plugins. Some websites also cache old prices... just search.
Please do some research , there are many ways to track price ..you will see many such tutorials in youtube as well
literally just search price history on google
Love you Palki. Love and prayers from Lord Shiva. Padre Agila de Kalye From The Philippines,🌺😁🙏💖💖
Amazon and Flipkart is doing the same. Now with the BBD sales, the circus starts again.
You forget mynthra worst one higher than both
Yes Amazon doing same. I check the Dell monitor prices official website. And actual difference only 500 or 1000 and says 64% discount.😂
Firstcry. Price of 100rs toy is marked at 1000rs and give discount of 75-80%. Still make profit.
In India edible oil and other food prices are too costly even with discounts.
Edible oils aren’t good for you anyway
@@dailyui636 tell that to middle class people
@@soumyachintu5024Yes we don’t accept the fact. Edible oil is really bad for health.
B@@radhamanohar2307no it's not
Same happening in india oil prices and toor dal prices inflated by 100%
Please make video on india also

This happened ln Canada 30 years ago. Nothing new
Same with Amazon, Flipkart in India
Discounted prices are illusive; it's a no brainer!
850 coles and 1130 woolworth stores in across Australia, imagine how much they can earn just using this method, they control 65-70% consumer market.
This scam is common in USA. There are so many products you will see either quantity will go down or price will go up and then they give discount later continues on regular price.

I think all big brand shop in India they get seperate mrp and less quantity content product in their shop, specially manufactured for them alone..
amazon ~prices~ always have strike Strike text on there prices
also supplies damaged goods with online order
Yep Amazon is the king of this... Some product prices are powered after you buy.. Some after a year or so
Kudos Palki. Excellent, y have chosen the issue which is concerning all of us as customer,
Amazon does this all the time.
Cant believe that the Australian PM was not aware of such deceptive discounts 😊
All big companies are making a fool of customers. Also in India
Why she not mentioned our country.
Yes,I noticed that in some malls in India.
You are right.
There is a big shopping mall near my place and there in an anchor store selling multi brand store in the mall.... they do the same thing there... especially on goods that don't come with a brand price tag...
Australian Government need good applaud 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
discount does not mean that the retailer should sell it at such a lower price which causes them a loss.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏Great job

Mall has ruined indigenous shopkeepers , even they are not able to sell quality products, consumerists have craze for malls , elite way of life not sustainable and inclusive .
Very much sustainable ,this mall culture, atleast for customers
Raise the price first and then apply discount
At least their Government is considerate! We face this every time here in India. The Govt. of India should intervene!

In India. Same product getting sold at different price MRP in retail and different price with discount in big stores
Deceptive prices in Canada has been a norm for the last 10 years.

Good suggestions 🎉
Its what ShopRite does in South Africa
Many markets had established subindustry evolved.
Now in Dubai we don't know what's real prices. All r in sales but prices are skyrocketed last two years
Retailers have been doing this for years.
I was told that Coles is much better in Prices than Woolworths but after seeing this looks like both are 2 faces of the same Coin.
CFBR
Even a sub brands may mislead as originals. 🐊 crocodile, puma and at large all at substitute of ones
Non moving items comes as discount or shows as great disc
I want to see how it works on Amazon Flipkart and other online stores how india does this ?
Amazon Flipkart does this regularly
There is not enough competition in Australia because the government allowed big players to buy up smaller stores and now there are too few options in the market. Now the government is having to fix the problem their earlier poor governance caused.
It is also because those country do not have MRP concept they can fluctuate which is the concept RRP
Shoes like action one or t shirts 👕 you have to confuse a original or misbranded
Just buy what is required, dont buy for discounts, Also have a list of prices which you buy often and compare, need to spend just few min…
People don't realise they are paying more in the name of discount.
Amazon Great India Sale coming in the ads...😯
India should be at the top in decieving customers in india free means 9 rupees 1 kg сахар and carry bags with company stamp is chargeable
I bought a Samsung phone on Amazon for 11500 rs 3 months ago. Same product is showing 14000 rs and after discount 12500 rs. Our big billion sale to fool the people.
Is this a surprise? Has been happening all the time. Who’ll sell for the loss?
That's the point. No one would do any business that doesn't produce profits.
We see they play any where as we step out
The vouchers gift cards or wallets discounts or fuelling petrol they won't spare tricky spins
Stock clearance and old stock on heavy deals
After seeing tirupathi....video...lost confidence on first post😢
👍
Even Amazon and Flipkart big billion sale also fake discounts....

Our government is sleeping over deceptive pricing or consumer protection
Shopping is good when mrp is real and brands labelled
Online we do they make many tricks of like vip customer or premier and 5 star
Watch without fail
This is something we all know.
Atlist, they have watch dogs .. our watch dog itself is corrupted from top to bottom .
❤❤❤❤❤
It's the same story even in India.
I never shop at Coles and Wolli
Compare Discount price to regular price and save money
What would you do if you don't know regular price?
Everyone knows the discounts are not actually a discount, except in few cases
Well these practice are common in flipkart and amazon in india.
Why didn't you tell before ? 😅
Consumer courts aren't strong in India what's the point of talking fake discounts, over pricing, cheap quality products for normal prices , adulteration etc
They say upto 50% discount or cashback but give only 1% discount/cashback on all products & still many people are getting fooled in India 😑
Sounds like daily business for Amazon and Flipkart
Don’t look at the price. Look for it’s worth.
Just a small example how system works.
Well developed nation consumers don't care. It only effect consumers of developing nation like our.
This doesn’t work in India😂😂😂 we have decoded this long back…
What? Fraudkart is doing it everyday!
Branded Wallet in flipkart is 1100rs but same wallet on myntra is 1400 rs after discount and it's now forcing me to shop 5000 rs on credit card so that i can get my wallet for 1150 rs. This elevated price scam is so common now.
Its correct that they will increase prices in sales especially myntra.
Its much more higher on flipkart n amazon
Need to solve monopolism ..
So people will realise now
Thst is in India, in Europe and ,USA you cannot do rgt
Their is nothing free in this world...
