Thanks Geno. How are you liking this video released to channel members first? I started doing this a few weeks ago, so you guys get first chance to see things.
" Large mouth "😂, I think Josh is still fishing😂 WIDE MOUTH paisano!😂 Good stuff, Josh...thanks for sharing. We make tomato sauce, cubed , salsa and tomato juice. Grandma, mom and I are doing it this weekend. Got tomatoes from our local Amish, don't have quite enough tomatoes from our garden. Grandpa helps as well, his favorite is Roma Tomato for sauce mixed with Sammarsana Tomatoes (seeds from Canada close to Italian). We usually make around 70 plus jars, enough for 3 family . We share some with neighbors. Cheers
You should try a tomato strainer, the hand crank style. You can juice them much faster. Once you juice them, simply bring them to a boil and put the juice in the cans with your salt.
theoretically.....all salt is sea salt, it's all concentrated from the sea, whether an inland sea or the ocean. Pickling salt has no iodine....that's the only difference I'm told. I'd use pickling salt
Hey Josh, Love your videos. I am just getting started with canning. I bought my first pressure canner and jar lifter yesterday, a couple cases of Ball jars and a canning funnel. Still working on getting the rest of the equipment needed. However, I am curious, Did you add any water to your pots when cooking down the tomatoes?
pickling/canning salt is typically used for canning. It's non iodized. Iodized means iodine is added, regular table salt has additives to prevent caking also
Josh we watch your videos all the time, I finally became a member and would love some information on how u lost the weight I had thyroid issues and gained almost 100 lbs b4 the Dr figure it out, and have tried everything and no luck taking it off... Pls help if u can😊
Ever try green tomato chunky ketchup? It has a whole different taste from regular tomatoe, kinda clovy spicy sweet, very yummy with meat, or just about anything. 😂 I see you're growing sprouts. Which ones?
growing up....we never had "soda pop" and we never went out to eat....we had garden veggies, home raised beef and chicken, deer, squirrel and fish caught from our pond. We didn't even know what we were eating...mom made it and that's what we ate .....look at the ingredients in V8...problem is herbicides, insecticides and commercial fertilizers. Nothing compares to home made stuff like this my friend...I'm sure you know that! WOooooo! thanks for the great comment!
My Grandmother, who was PA Dutch, was all about gardening including jarring/canning. She would make this tomato jelly, which as a young kid, the idea was ....um....kinda yuck! As a grown up, I've learned to enjoy tomato jelly when I can find it. It is great on bread by itself or added to a sandwich. Do you make homemade bloody mary mix with horseradish? 🍹 P.S. Love your videos.
@@janrobertbos You are correct......I'm German Dutch. My grandfather spoke PA Dutch which as I understand it, is a mixture of high German and Dutch. He was able to communicate with the Amish fluently. I'm the only person born in the Boston area, while everyone else in my family were born in PA. My great grandmother only spoke German and wore those "old lady" tie up black boots. She'd sit in her rocker on the porch looking fierce. 😎
oh...you've not been on the channel very long have ya....gosh...we went through a 4 year break up period....got divorced and I still let her come back literally 15 more times .....it was pretty darn horrible. I'm just now getting back into the dating world
I've been craving tomato soup and toasted cheese sandwiches 😳

This is the best video I’ve seen for this and I’ve watch a bunch! I hope to see more canning videos from you guys! So great! Thank you!!!
That’s good stuff we made our share this summer
Loved this video. Really informative, Keep it up man! A big thank you!
Glad you liked it! Hope you enjoy your tomato juice
Excellent, informative video my friend - from the garden to the frig. I never heard of a bloody beer but it sounds good.
Thanks Josh appreciate you my friend
My mom had a full set of those copper bottom pans growing w❤❤❤. They were the BEST to keep things (like tomatoes) from ever burning on the bottom.
I actually canned 20 pints of hot sauce. This time, I roasted my onions and jalapeños for this round. It's going to be so good.
Nothing wrong with mayonnaise jars
sometimes they work fine...sometimes they don't.....I don't use them for anything other than honey
Great video and lots of great information

Love red beers my wife is getting tired of tomatoes but this year I'm running more so I can make my tomato juice for first time.
Hey Josh thank you for the video woo
How much i love farming...i love farming...thanks
Shouldn’t you wipe off the jar tops before caps go on???
if you soil them
Pressure cooker weight is different depending on the number of feet above sea level. I think 816 ft above sea level is 10#
Awesome as always
Great advice ❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Beer and Tomato juice here in In Tennessee and Texas call Reddraw
if you don't have a food mill you can also do this in a food processor and use a strainer.
yep...you could but it's awefly hot to pour in a food processor
I m canning some pickles this weekend
It was 111 and 109 this last weekend. I didn't get any done
Can you cool and use juicer?
Cool
Do I see “German Johnson’s” in there??😍😍 These are BY FAR my most favorite tomato❤️
oh yes!
I also used pink sea salt. Please tell me my juice is safe.. lol ! It was my first time making..

Still working on getting the rest of the equipment needed. However, I am curious, Did you add any water to your pots when cooking down the tomatoes?
no water added....remember they are probably 95% water
How long the juice can be kept in fridge?
you don't have to refrigerate until you open it, then it's about 2 weeks. Last 2-5 years canning this way
What’s the chances of milling up some molding for that one piece STILL missing at the kitchen sink….😂😂😂😂 only busting you…don’t get in a tizzy…😜
What is the canning salt for?
pickling/canning salt is typically used for canning. It's non iodized. Iodized means iodine is added, regular table salt has additives to prevent caking also

What is the difference between using lemon juice or vinegar? Which is better.. i used both, will it be ok?
I've used lemon juice and I've used nothing at all....as long as ya can appropriately you shouldn't need to worry
@@StoneyRidgeFarmer thank you

I have about a dozen and waiting for rest of them to turn to make my sauce.
I coulda had a V8! *clunk! There's a reason kids don't like tomato juice! WOOO!

Wooooooooooooooooo!!!
You can do hot canning without the pressure canner.
Was that a blue plastic funnel you were putting the salt in? Lol
You can use kosher salt also. The drink you are talking about is called a red beer not a bloody beer.

well..darn...share it with us lol...this is so simple....does mom do something different?
I think you're gonna use these for bloody marys.
Maybe get fancy and roast the tomatoes first.

you drink tomato sauce?
No, I cook with tomato sauce.
Not a big fan of fruit juice.
If it takes 23 minutes for you to do a video it ain't easy dude
23 mins....take tomatoes, cook and can. If this isn't easy to you, then ya probably shouldn't attempt it brother...lol
