I figured Jimmy Carter would want to be buried at home. It's been his home for so many years. He'll be 99 in October, and I find it fascinating that life has been so generous to not only him and Rosalynn, but many other presidents and people around the world. Thank you for this wonderful video. :) 🇺🇲
Hi Steve thanks for this video. I find these videos very interesting and informative. I’m sure you enjoyed very much visiting all these graves I know I would have!
@@TheGraveyardChannel I’m so happy you are sharing because I will never have the opportunity to visit them in person so this is the next best thing. You tell the stories so wonderfully. I love your voice it’s so soothing.
Home burial is certainly a wonderful option, as long as the property will never be sold to a private party and perpetual maintenance is not a concern. I'd say with many of our Presidents, past, present and future, those obstacles will never be encountered.
Rutherford Birchard and Lucy Webb Hayes were initially buried in the Hayes family plot in Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, Ohio, when they died in 1893 and 1889, respectively. The couple was reinterred at their home site at Spiegel Grove in Fremont in 1915 by their son, Webb Hayes. Many Hayes family members rest in the Oakwood family plot. Oakwood is less than a mile from Spiegel Grove.
Very nice expose' on all the Presidents buried at home. Poor Jimmy Carter I hope he is not in pain. He was the first President I ever voted for. My Dad met him in the early fifties. If you know President Carter's background he was a specialist in nuclear powered submarines. Before we immigrated to the US, my Dad worked at the first Nuclear Power plant at Chalk River, Ontario, on the Ottowa River. Mr. Carter made a visit there as a young nuclear seaman and invited my Dad to go down in the sub for a look. It was brief but he never forgot him. Bless his heart.
This is another video that you have knocked out of the park with . Everything you have done is just great . I hope you keep making videos . Love this .
Great video - I thoroughly enjoy the Presidential history (I’m trying to make it to all of the Presidential Libraries). By the way, you mentioned how it’s rare for famous people to be buried in their yards or at home - not a president but a very famous person buried at home is Elvis Presley. He and his family are now buried at his estate in Memphis. (After originally being buried in a nearby cemetery/mausoleum).
Been to President Hayes' resting place, but I would like to visit others like Reagan and Kennedy. It's rather something to be standing near their grave and house.
Wonderful and fascinating video Steve. Very interesting. Thank you, my friend. Hope you are feeling stronger and better every day. Blessings - Judith 🎵🎭
I found this video to be very educational and touching. I am especially touched by President Jimmy Carter. I was a young boy when he was in office. At the time, I did not like President Carter very much. I have completely changed my mind about him. He and Mrs. Carter have my utmost respect and admiration. What an amazing legacy they have been building for so many years! May God continue to bless them both!
I really miss seeing your sweet face and going with you as you took your followers around to gravesites. Like in this one. My husband and I hope you are healthy, well, and happy. ❤
Thank you this channel, to share of new update, bless too the involved whom is still around with stysafe, styhealth and take care, too respect with mine visited in this location cementery with types of design stone, color too late president whom have longs service to protect country, this community members salute respect with the soul to rest in peaces, thank you for all the longs services to country, military especially. Good luck, rest with peaces all late presidents.from, raddy, ddy
James K. Polk was also buried at his home Polk Place in downtown Nashville (after being initially buried in the City Cemetery for a year due to his death from infectious disease) before his tomb was relocated to the grounds of the nearby Tennessee State Capitol.
I remember that Richard Nixon, because of the Watergate controversy, had a horrible time finding a suitable location for his library. He wanted the facility to be near Duke University, where he went to law school, but student protests scuttled that idea. His birthplace in Yorba Linda was then picked.
Steve, you reminded me of Bill Cosby burying his kids at home. It seems weird & what happens when the homes sell later? I had never heard of this. Your videos are always informative. Thank you & great job. 👍👍
I didn’t know that Bill Cosby did that. For Presidents, it makes sense because maybe, historic landmarks, and Taurus attractions that can make money to maintain the property. Sadly, not everyone can afford to keep their homes in the families forever. Thanks for sharing this Tex 👍
Fascinating list Steve. I figured Jimmy Carter's funeral and burial plans were already set. It would be very alarming for us regular folk to be burried in our front yards. Just sayin' . 😃
I believe some States do allow burials at home with Special Provisions i am from in Rhode Island and few people in RI have been buried at home one famous person buried at home is Anthony Quinn he had a home Poppasquash Point in Bristol RI
Thanks for sharing that with us, Roger. Surprisingly, quite a few states do allow it. I live in California where they don’t so I had never heard about it until just a couple of years ago.
love the video, but a few of them what you said didnt match up to what we're seeing, oops! good job. hope your well! i kind of figured it would be jimmy
I know, I was surprised too when I found out a couple of years ago that it’s pretty popular in most of the US. I live in California where it’s not allowed.
Hi Steve. I don't think I would want to be buried in my back yard . It's full of weeds !! I Need to weed it and mow it and even then no way . LoL . Deborah 🇨🇦
Hi Ben, I almost did and I wondered if anyone would mention that. So many of the presidents moved two or three times after they died, but I decided to only include the ones who are currently buried at home or planning to be. Thanks for mentioning him though. 👍
Hi Steve there nothing about but the Actor who played in Man and Uncle and NCiS David McCalllum had died today in New York he was born in September 19,1933 in Glasgow Scotland he was 90
That would be awesome, but according to news reports, he is in hospice care it is final days. Hopefully he will hang in there for another couple of years. 👍
Hi Steve I dont have ur email to help inform of this so I posted here, LONDON (AP) - Veteran actor Michael Gambon, who was known to many for his portrayal of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in six of the eight “Harry Potter” films, has died, his publicist said Thursday. He was 82 can u send me ur email for future reference, thanks Dave
Thanks Dave. I saw the notice early this morning, but I was tied up until now and couldn't post it. I check the news wire services all day, every day for obituaries. Sadly, at least one famous person dies every single day of the year, so I check every day. Most months I include 30 or more in my monthly In Memoriam video. I'm happy to say that this month I don't even have 25 to report. I appreciate you thinking of me! :-)
Wow everyday, does it seem like more famous people have passed in 2023 than in years past or about the same? Didnt know if u actually compared? I miss ur road reviews of the hotels u stay at, any planned for the last few months of 2023? How the weather in the Palm?@@TheGraveyardChannel so I assume u have one coming up soon Memoraim video for Sept 2023. Thanks for all u do love ur videos..

Hi Kwill, thank you for your kind and generous donation. I'm glad you liked the video. You'll be getting a mention in an upcoming video soon! :-)

Would it be cool if Jimmy Carter turns 💯 years old?!

Hi Greg, I already did. About a year ago. Just search on my channel to find it and watch it. Thanks. 😊👍
My dad was born in the old charity hospital 🏥 here in Fresno. Most of his siblings were born at home.
Thanks for sharing that with us Diane. I’ve personally never known anyone it was born at home. 👍

@TheGraveyardChannel That's for sure. Of course, alot of these Presidents have family land. And quite abit of it. In Palm Springs 🌴 Not so much. 😆 🤣
I live in Minnesota, Prince’s ashes are buried at his home, Paisley Park in Chanhassen.
Rest in peace ✌️ Jimmy Carter 😢
Great video!!! Andrew Jackson is my 1st cousin 7 times removed! A very interesting person to be related!
I agree jack. You are part of a very interesting family tree. Thanks for sharing that with us.
love the video, but a few of them what you said didnt match up to what we're seeing, oops! good job. hope your well! i kind of figured it would be jimmy
Not sure what you mean Kim?
oh maybe its my laptop, for instance on a few of the men you gave the death date but the pic showed another yr. and for #2 you said three. sorry
RIP George Washington
I did not know that was allowed. To be buried on your property. It is a no no out here.
I know, I was surprised too when I found out a couple of years ago that it’s pretty popular in most of the US. I live in California where it’s not allowed.
Actually he died on Dec 29, 2024 aged 99 and was buried yesterday along side his wife of 77 years. It was as very moving six days of mourning.. RIP
Hi Steve. I don't think I would want to be buried in my back yard . It's full of weeds !! I Need to weed it and mow it and even then no way . LoL . Deborah 🇨🇦

I've been to Richard Nixon's grave site a couple of times.
YOU MISSED ONE cooleledge in killington vermont ive been to the home and grave
He’s not buried at home. His home is about a 1/2 mile away. Close though. 👍
@@TheGraveyardChannel its one compound the grave is in site of the house
I will do this but Australian pm but guess what some were buried in uk
I'm a little disappointed you didn't mention an asterisk about Polk.
That's a good point. President Polk's remains underwent quite a chain-of-events and might even be moved again to his former home in Columbia?

Well, it happened. President Carter was buried at his home on January 9th, 2025.
I would like to visit Mt Vernon and George Washington's grave
It’s definitely worth it 👍
Trump at Mar a Lago I expect, soon I hope.
I remind you that is been 1 year since queen Elizabeth died
Maybe Jimmy Carter will be the first former president to hit 100.
