      @@swedishlinguist3083 oh yeah, this was USSR time when the cartoon was produced but it is well known by the entire country even today. Everybody likes Karlsson because of his funny behaviour in the cartoon. There are a batch of series. Look at one of them

    I’ve been watching your videos, I like the subtitles in English with Swedish audio, and the subjects are all very good. I wish you were still making new videos!

    När du sa att r + t smälter ihop så tänkte jag på den vidriga rösten som ropar ut hållplatser på Norrköpings spårvagnar… :P "Norrthull" istället för "Norr Tull" (där hade jag nog sagt Norr - Tull och inte Norrthull med tjockt T liksom) xD

    • @swedishlinguist3083
      @swedishlinguist3083  2 роки тому

      Haha, ja det låter ganska konstigt när man säger det så! Det finns ju några undantag för den här regeln, t ex "barrskog", "bisarrt", "Irland" eller "kurd". Kanske "Norrtull" borde vara ett av dom!

    I would have liked these points to be explained: 1. Musiken var vackert att lyssna på. -why 'vackert' as musiken is an 'en' noun? In the same way: is it "Kärlek är vacker/vackert?' 2. Pannkakor med sylt är gott. -why the t-form of the adjective there? It is extremely difficult to find any explanation to these common types of sentences online.

    • @swedishlinguist3083
      @swedishlinguist3083  2 роки тому

      I wouldn't say "musiken var vackert att lyssna på", I would put "vacker" there. But the second sentence sounds good to me. I think it's about the fact that you're not talking about any specific love, just love in general. That's why the fist sentence sounds wrong to me. You're saying "musiken" in bestämd form, so you are talking about some specific music, and so you should say "vacker".
      Compare these:
      - Musik är vackert (Musik, DET är vackerT) - generellt
      - Musiken är vacker (MusikEN, DEN är vacker, jag gillar DEN musikEN) - specifikt
      So if you say "musik är vackert", you're not referring to any specific music, you're talking in general. You can add the general pronoun "det" - "musik, det är vackert". But if you add "den", you would need to put it in bestämd form "musiken, den är vacker", and then you're referring to some specific music.

    My only criticism here is that you're covering fairly basic grammatical constructions, but are speaking straight-up Swedish. It would seem to me that speaking full-on Swedish is perfectly acceptable as a teaching method when covering intermediate- and advanced concepts. However, when covering such basic concepts, there's a decent chance the person watching the video won't be able to capture what you're delivering. That said, you were good enough to provide both English and Swedish subtitles, which entitles you to a "win" in the end. My advice: "Advanced topics? Speak Swedish. Elementary topics? Speak learner's native tongue."
