Yeah that’s a big reason KD left, Dray responded with “we don’t need you” Remember when he punched Poole and didn’t apologize? Almost like the dude has an accountability problem.

It’s beyond ridiculous at this point and I don’t even like gobert but what green did is beyond unacceptable.

It's only a replacement for the guys most likely not playing. The issue is more for expiring contracts/pending free agents. It means nothing to them and potentially keeps them from having a roster spot to resign.
I think the championship game should count as a full game to there record cause that actually matters at the end and would be a reason to keep bringing it up
Lowkey surprised they didn’t go longer with Draymond’s suspension. Given that it was an in-season tournament game and the nba is trying to work out a new tv deal, having 3 player ejections and a dude putting someone in a chokehold isn’t exactly the best optics. Imo, Draymond will either never change, or he’ll just deal with a 5 game suspension and it wont really do much. Honestly I dont really care about this suspension as much, I just am severely disappointed that Miles Bridges is still in the league. Players have been banned from the league for having non-PED substance abuse problems, which is more of a sickness than anything else, but a player commits domestic violence, arrested twice, violates probation/restraining orders, and no action is taken other than the team saying to not show up for 10 games. Not sure how I can expect much from a league that still props up a guy like Karl Malone, but still would’ve been a step in the right direction Also off topic, but talking about KG is something I always love. If you haven’t watched Thinking Basketball’s video on KG’s mvp season, I highly recommend it because it does a great job of showing how KG was able to clean up the defensive mistakes of the team and basically cover every area of the court
The title is funny to me because “The only way to stop [insert any other NBA player]” would have everyone thinking that it’s talking about a defensive scheme to stop a player that’s going off, from scoring. But with draymond we all know it means something different because (1) the guy can’t score and (2) he’s the dirtiest player in the game and a menace.
CP3 comes pretty GD close. Why is nobody bringing this up? He tried to hurt bite bite, then ant was getting screamed at by a dude my age 😂. Didn’t work to well.
as a hoop fan who keeps up with the entire league but doesn’t watch everyday, I have been absolutely loving the in-season tournament, I see it as a net positive, we get better more competitive hoops, the players and coaches get paid, and it’s honestly has been feelings different and more exciting seeing in-season game vs regular season game, it to me and my homies already has a competitive playoff series esque vibe to it
21:48 Also want to add on that the lottery pick idea would be game changing… and i would love it, the idea of being able to compete for a chip while still having a future would 100% drive coaches and teams to make these games a focus, the guaranteed play-off spot however,I would agree with what PG13 said on his pod, it could make the players not care for the rest of the regular season games since they dont matter, which would lead to players not playing and players not being properly prepared come play-off time
Thank you for talking about the Warriors announcers! They are so bad!!! When the Cavs were playing them, all they were doing was complaining for the last 30 minutes of the game!!!
Thing I've heard about the in-season tournament from guys who've talked to players is that the award money is a big deal. Now it might not be a big deal personally to a guy making $50m, but every guy making $50m has a couple guys on their roster that that 500k would be a real nice boon for. So a lot of guys who may not be too concerned about 500k for themselves may very well want to win 500k for one or two or three of the bench guys on a two-way/minimum contract who's well-liked. For them, that reward's massive. There are a ton of guys in the NBA who don't reach $10m in their careers, and the well-paid team leaders may be pulling for them to get as much as they can.
great pod, kenny, still waiting for a full episode of you talking about the bulls(and I ain't even a bulls fan, I'm just a fan of seeing people talk about their teams), and I BEG you to do an episode if they go full rebuild. Also, been here since day 1, the mic on this seemed a little off a few moments... keep up with the great work!
the problem with the draft pick reward idea for the in season tournament is that the players have no reason to want that. in fact a lot of them actually have reason to NOT want it since that’s another guy that could take their job
yo i deadass thought the producer greg lines were pre-recorded and that kenny knew the questions beforehand because he was always so prepared for them.
In season tournament is pretty cool. Kings fan, they play their second tonight. It was funny cause Kevin heurter was dribbling the ball out towards the end when they were up and everybody was yelling to shoot it cause of point differential
I love that idea of picking between a lottery pick and a guaranteed playoff spot cuz as a Celtics fan the draft gets pretty lackluster bc we never have a high pick cuz we’ve been pretty good the last few years
there should be a fixed pick for the winner of the in-season tournament (somewhere between pick 5-10), either that, or the winner gets a season-long increase to their salary cap (say $20-30 million)
As a lifelong, die hard Warriors fan, Ima have to agree with you. Lol I fux with Draymond for what he's done and for the positives he brings to the Dubs, but you bring up so many valid points. And the biggest point that drove it home for me... THE 2016 NBA FINALS 😭😭
You can make a really good lineup of players who are victims of Draymond’s behavior PG-James Harden (slashed eye) SG-Jordan Poole (locker room punch) SF-LeBron James (Finals kick) PF-Domantas Sabonis (chest stomp) C-Rudy Gobert (headlock) 6th Man-Steven Adams (nut kick)
The nba has to use that for the in szn tournament I love the idea of a team having a choice for lottery or playoff spot would really give every team an incentive
kenny ily but no one in the league values zach lavine like bulls fans do. a 40 mil contract for a volume shooter who’s been to the playoffs once in his career is insane. caruso is your guy’s money-maker atp. every contender needs to b monitoring him over lavine
I definitely agree that Lavine doesn't bring a lot of value to a current contender because his value is from his scoring and most contenders have a system in place that he would just disrupt (except maybe Miami), but you gotta recognize he's one of the few guys in the history of the sport who have averaged 20+ ppg for his career so he certainly does have value. This is coming from someone who isn't a fan of any particular team.
@@arvinshaygan8643 ultimately i agree. i think he can help push the needle a bit for miami. i forget when jimmy and bam aren’t on, they can really start to struggle offensively throughout the year. i’m sure contenders want to take the chance on him despite the 40 million, but he’s also unproven in playoff settings with one series at 28 years old. he didn’t play great, albeit he was seeing first option defense, but it’s risky to fork up three rotational players for an unproven playoff performers that’s a negative defender.
For the tournament the extra rewards could be points given in standings. So first team gets like 10 wins to their standings 2nd place gets 5 wins 3rd and 4th get 3 and 2 wins
13:30 oh Kenny you dont know Draymond. He really dont like play basketball without Curry. I remember in 2021 season Curry missed the game and like 5 min before the game draymond randomly injured and didnt play the game. And yes next game Curry played the game and Draymond magically healed from injury
I’m regards to the In-Season tournament my dad loves it. He’s a huge basketball fan but usually will go to a local HS game on a Tuesday or Friday but he really likes the tourney and he’s watching more NBA because of it.
Warriors fan here, I love draymond play. But when he takes it to far it’s to much. I thought after the Poole thing the warriors would use it as an out to get rid of him. If we want to win again I don’t think he can be in the roster if he continues like this. P.S. Yes Zach Lavine for wiggs is a thing I would want!
Literally best comment section on the NBA. Probably because Kenny is the king and his fans travel. We know hoops, and Draymond need a 168 game suspension 😌
I think the Mid season tourney will eventually become a status symbol to future champs where they claim they win both trophies that year rather than just one.
20:28 As a pretty die hard Celtics fan the In Season Tournament doesn’t really matter to me much. I watch all of their games regardless so I want a win no matter what. I want us to win the tournament for two reasons, one because it always feels good to win something, and two it means that we won a lot of games through this stretch of the season.
As a Jazz fan I actually like the Idea of Lavine on the Jazz. Sexton and THT (possibly Collins instead of one) a younger player (Sensabaugh, fontecio) and a first might be enough and makes an interesting lineup for the Jazz
IN-SEASON TOURNAMENT IDEA Link with Division Standings. Winner of each group is granted a -1 in games back Goes to elimination 5 team bracket, winner from West & East play and win either a play-in spot or percentage boost to picks. (like a wildcard)
good incentive would be, if a team that ends up making the playoffs wins the in season tournament, they automatically get the 15th pick in the draft (first outside lottery) if they DONT make the playoffs and they do win the tournament, they get much higher odds at a 1st overall pick
Yo Kenny, the reason to have another guest on the show is the physical in person interaction. I know you disconnected from that as you always on your phone but that's why people watch most podcasts.
For the in season tournament my consolation prizes were top 6 play off seed 5 million cap space for the team but a top lottery pick for teams sounds intriguing
I hate that DPOTY nearly always goes to a big. I can think of a couple guards that had years where there defensive contrabution was enough to erase the offensive contrabution of a 2nd or 3rd option.
As a patriots fan were going through the same thing you talked about with reminiscing the old championships with the warriors and it hurts but it also fulfills us so much because it was definitely worth it
Couldn't agree more and as a warriors fan myself I absolutely thinks he gets away with too much imagine if it was the other way around we as a fans would be calling for the twolves player to be suspended for the season if they did it to one of our players. Even if you know nothing about basketball when you see draymonds aggressiveness you can tell he absolutely has anger issues that need to be addressed and handled and its not an good example for people especially kids watching the NBA to watch a literal man child get away with whatever he wants,
My favorite time to watch a team is a team that’s transitioning from rebuilding to buying. The city is buzzing and the stadium is loud because fans know they’re finally getting good, the players are typically really young stars or really under appreciated vets, and the move the make is almost always something small that just fits in perfectly. Celtics trading for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, then signing Al Horford and next thing you know they’re the 1 seed.
As a diehard warriors fan there’s no doubt what he did is wrong. I think the dray conversation gets too out of hand on both sides every time. There’s people who hate him saying he’s a dirty player trying to hurt people and he should be arrested when the reality is he’s just always doing too much. I think a lot of warriors fans try to overcompensate for the dray hate
One reward I saw that stuck with me for the in-season tournament was if you win you get to host the all stars. I think that one would get players to give a shit, orgs to give a shit, fans who want the event to be in their city will put pressure on their team to win for them, etc.
KD sat down with Draymond about 2 years ago and the discussion of their infamous discussion on the court came up. KD talked about he hated how the situation was handled afterwards. He noted that Kerr treated it like it was nothing and didn’t speak on it and Bob Myers downplayed it. He also noted how that situation rifted the locker room/team because that was always looming. Makes me believe the same thing happened with the Poole situation and about to be the same thing again with this.
imagine this trade: Golden state get Zach Lavine ----- Bulls get Draymond Green, Kuminga, and two first round picks. As a bulls fan, i would be happy with that. Keep Derozan, keep Vucevic.
The Draymond thing was so nuts that even my friends that don't know a thing about basketball have brought it up to me. Shit clearly has gotten out of hand
I don't think that a guaranteed lottery pick is the best idea ever, but I do like the idea of a guaranteed playoff spot. Even if that guarantee is only the 6th or eighth seed or smn, that still creates an incentive for teams who may have been on The Fringe of the play in.
Problem with a guaranteed playoff spot for winning the In season tourney, I would create good tourney games but after that, the winning team has no incentive to win a single regular season game
🔒 in to the pod….. ya think draymond should of gotten more than 5 games??? A headlock is crazy tbh, I wonder what the suspension would’ve been if someone came up and punched the hell out of him.

Facts the warriors commentators were so biased it was like they weren’t even watching the same replay as us.
For the tournament the extra rewards could be points given in standings. So first team gets like 10 wins to their standings 2nd place gets 5 wins 3rd and 4th get 3 and 2 wins
Loving this pod so far! ❤ keep it going KB!!!
13:30 oh Kenny you dont know Draymond. He really dont like play basketball without Curry. I remember in 2021 season Curry missed the game and like 5 min before the game draymond randomly injured and didnt play the game. And yes next game Curry played the game and Draymond magically healed from injury
So true. Anytime curry isn’t playing he tries to get off the court.
I’m regards to the In-Season tournament my dad loves it. He’s a huge basketball fan but usually will go to a local HS game on a Tuesday or Friday but he really likes the tourney and he’s watching more NBA because of it.
Kenny you a good dude. Thank you for being real about all this
The in season tournament lottery pick idea would be sick
Nah imagine a team wins the in season tournament and gets guaranteed a lottery pick and also makes the playoffs. That would break the league
Only dirty, never been tough. Don't get it confused.
Also Kerr self-righteous af
GSW commentators did the same shit with the Donovan Mitchell fight the game before
You gotta have chapters and timestamps Kenny manz
another great episode kenny
It wasn’t a full Nelson, but man I would’ve loved to see that 😂
As a Warriors fan, i've been sick of Draymond acting like this. It's been way too many times, and the team has already been through a lot recently
KEEP GRINDING KENNY U GONNA GO FAR KID ‼️‼️
Marcus Camby played vs Starters, his backup was playing vs the opponents backups. That could explain the +2 when he’s off the court.
You’re right about the warriors commentary being bias. I’m a warriors fan and it’s unbearable sometimes.
As a Jazz fan I actually like the Idea of Lavine on the Jazz. Sexton and THT (possibly Collins instead of one) a younger player (Sensabaugh, fontecio) and a first might be enough and makes an interesting lineup for the Jazz
You get another scoring punch but your defense would get so much worse, to me he is not woth that trade + his contract is an overpay.
Jrue gotta be in the discussion for DPOY... look at every perimiter guys shooting percentages when guarded by him.. dudes locking down everyone.
IN-SEASON TOURNAMENT IDEA
Link with Division Standings. Winner of each group is granted a -1 in games back
Goes to elimination 5 team bracket, winner from West & East play and win either a play-in spot or percentage boost to picks. (like a wildcard)
Why do I love hearing Kenny wit the wwe references
good incentive would be, if a team that ends up making the playoffs wins the in season tournament, they automatically get the 15th pick in the draft (first outside lottery) if they DONT make the playoffs and they do win the tournament, they get much higher odds at a 1st overall pick
Regardless of how people feel about it Klay knows dudes got his back 💯 no doubt in his mind about it now.
someone tried telling me that thats why they like draymond cuz he always has his teammates backs as if homie didnt punch jordan poole last year
“we hate the owner” is crazy after the Bulls gave you a city jersey 😭
8:55 Although it’s a character Flight puts on when he streams, he is definitely the loudest Draymond supporter out there 😆
Let's go Kenny! Keep it up🔥
Yo Kenny, the reason to have another guest on the show is the physical in person interaction.
Even if you know nothing about basketball when you see draymonds aggressiveness you can tell he absolutely has anger issues that need to be addressed and handled and its not an good example for people especially kids watching the NBA to watch a literal man child get away with whatever he wants,
You might want to fix your camera Kenny, it's super choppy for some reason
My favorite time to watch a team is a team that’s transitioning from rebuilding to buying. The city is buzzing and the stadium is loud because fans know they’re finally getting good, the players are typically really young stars or really under appreciated vets, and the move the make is almost always something small that just fits in perfectly.
Celtics trading for Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, then signing Al Horford and next thing you know they’re the 1 seed.
I totally agree on the warriors. You NEED to 1000% buy into Curry and contending. It's insane that he's still playing like this at this age
They should add a four point line to the in season tournament like in ote
imagine this trade: Golden state get Zach Lavine ----- Bulls get Draymond Green, Kuminga, and two first round picks. As a bulls fan, i would be happy with that. Keep Derozan, keep Vucevic.
I better not see an RJ for Lavine trade. Not only is way better (defense and playmaking), but he’s younger, and making way less money.
Lavine cleared rj last year. I do agree rj has been better this year and New York shouldn’t trade him but let’s not overreact to 10 games
Kenny do be crunching something this ep still loved it
The Draymond thing was so nuts that even my friends that don't know a thing about basketball have brought it up to me.
3:48 yeah rudy gobert doesn’t have a great history with mics now that you mention it
Most humble flex “I was talking to Bomani Jones earlier” 😂 Kenny is a legend
Guaranteed playoff spot is too much. Just make it something like "Winning the tournament adds +5 wins to your record" or some amount
21:34 the best way to get the fans excited is the extra chance to a guaranteed lottery pick. It will also mean more to the organizations
Problem with a guaranteed playoff spot for winning the In season tourney, I would create good tourney games but after that, the winning team has no incentive to win a single regular season game
Kenny, we need those timestamps good sir. Also, Bulls should definitely be going after Theis.
🔒 in to the pod….. ya think draymond should of gotten more than 5 games??? A headlock is crazy tbh, I wonder what the suspension would’ve been if someone came up and punched the hell out of him.
Kyrie got 8 games and had to write a public apology btw
Draymond Green gonna need a Coach Carter to straighten him out at this point
Even as a lifelong Bulls fan, “he’s better than Jim Boylen” means absolutely nothing Kenny😂😂😂
Kenny y’all just complained about not having an enforcer in the league on the pod but whenever dray actually enforces he’s gone too far. 😂
I don't think they complained. It was more pointing out that there weren't any because the league won't let it happen.
@@tonyschimmoeller lol my bad, P said dray wasn’t putting fear into people and dray said hold my beer 🍺
