  • Andrew Scott is interviewed for his movie Steel Country (A Dark Place). Scott Davis sat down with the Fleabag and Sherlock star to discuss the role, the lure of this darker character and the worldwide success of Fleabag - as well as a little nugget on what the future holds for Moriarty and Sherlock...Steel Country (or A Dark Place, depending on your territory) sees Scott star as Donald Devlin is a garbage man in Harburgh, Pennsylvania, a former steel town that has seen brighter days.
    A single father, Donny spends his days collecting the trash of the residents of this sleepy town alongside his best friend Donna Reutzel, and in his off-time, focusses his energies on being the best father he can be to his young daughter Wendy.But when Tyler Zeigler, a kid that would wave to Donny on his rounds of the neighbourhood, suddenly goes missing, Donny starts to fixate on finding out what has happened to him. With the local sheriff warning him off, and the town reacting to the young boy’s disappearance in a variety of confusing and out of character ways, Donny determines to learn the truth. But the truth may not want to reveal itself.
    Plot: When a young boy goes missing in a sleepy backwoods town, a local sanitation truck driver, Donald, plays detective, embarking on a precarious and obsessive investigation.
    During our interview with Andrew Scott for his movie Steel Country (A Dark Place), we find out about the aftermath of filming Fleabag, what it's been like to have been a part of and working with Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
    He also talks about whether or not we'll see him play Moriarty in Sherlock again. He also talks about working with Benedict Cumberbatch and Mark Strong in their new movie with Sam Mendes.

      Right there with you! He's adorable and such a good actor. I fell in love with him in Sherlock but he completely steals Fleabag. It's such a shame he got snubbed by the Emmy's!

    He is an amazing actor. He can be nobody, he can make every role. This is so hard. Sometimes he is murder,bad guy...Sometimes he is romantic,lovely,helpful,fun.
    But we have known he is Andrew Scott.
    That is the big reason to love him, he is he.

    I have seen him in Fleabag of course. I recently saw Present Laughter in my local arts centre, he was truly charismatic and wonderful in the part. I see him perhaps scaling the heights similar ho Sir Antony Hopkins. Jxxx

    2:12 I love that they didn’t diagnose the character because it feels like his character Donald wasn’t always like that . That maybe something happened or maybe it was the fact that the boy was overlooked and feels that care because of the fact that he is overlooked.

    Just saw this film a couple days ago. Good Story. Class act by Mr Scott. So sad this wasn't available in any Netflix, Amazon, Rakuten, FilmIn or whatever streaming platform where I did look for.

    So was his character also abused? Was he avenging or getting justice for the boy or himself and the boy?

      I think so. I think he had a traumatic experience himself that may have attributed to his mental issues. He may have blocked it out. I believe this was for both of them.

      I think he was abused by the society around him, every one thought he was psycho, stupid, and underestimated. when he says something, they didn't believe him. Even his mom didn't respect him, when she saw him she said your smell is bad, and the mother of his daughter just felt ashamed every time he told her to be as one family. All these events just make heavy burden on him.

    He had me until the gratuitous Trump bashing. Why do actors feel entitled to shove their political bias into everything?

    • @youknowit4936
      @youknowit4936 4 роки тому +15

      What about the other way around though? The public feels like they are entitled to know everything about actors. Their sexuality, who they are dating, what happens in their personal life etc. But when they give opinions about quite important subject matters, that not everybody agrees upon, suddenly they should just shut up...? In this day and age, with the internet, everbody can give their opinion about everything. Why are people in the public eye not allowed to give their opinion on political stuff or other things that are close to their heart, when 'normal' people like you are apparently allowed to? Btw, him having a different political view doesn't mean he is shoving any bias into anything. If he doesn't support trump, he should be allowed to speek his mind about that, which has nothing to do with any bias. Don't let your own political bias cloud your judgment ma'am.
