You don’t often see videos of an early cold war era, experimental aircraft model kits on UA-cam. This will be a very interesting kit for you to make a build video on. Also once made I hope you will get a 1/72 scale Hawker Siddeley Harrier to go along side it (for obvious reasons). Great inbox review Matt, keep up the great work!
I have this one in my stash. I don't remember how much I paid for it, but I too would have been happier paying half the amount . 🙂 "Not the worst kit I've seen..." High praise indeed!
Great review. I've been inspired to buy one, an interesting subject for a side project whilst I'm waiting for paint/glue to dry. Never tried Mistercraft before so it should be 'interesting'.
Was about to say "oh no, MisterCraft". But yes, doesn't look bad. Since I build 1/35, I saw they make a Panther A....but their price on that one, was...crazy, more expensive than Tamiya, Das Werk etc.
I like mistercraft kits... they may be crude, but they're still fun to built and strong, with a bit of modelling skill you can make some nice models of their kits... I have the sam feeling with Mach models! and they provide rare subjects!
The kit goes together pretty good for a Mister Craft but don't expect the decals to hang together. Of all the decals I only managed to get one on them one in one piece.
I just picked up a second-hand KP version of this kit today. I found your video when looking for information on it. I would call a 1993 kit pretty modern. A very interesting subject. One of the KP issues has "in Services" markings for the US Marine Corps, Royal Navy, and Japan Air Self Defence Force, mine just has the normal prototype markings. I am really looking forward to building this oddball.
quick questions: 1. where did you models for heroes video go, i cant find it.? 2. where can i find the models for heroes transfers? 3. Are there any guides (paint guides) for the models for heroes colours? big help if you can answer these questions
@@jaws666 every kit needs to be approached with great caution. All companies have good and bad kits. I have two kits of MisterCraft and both are awesome, though I know how bad they can be. That is why there is Scalemates. I can't imagine buying a kit without checking it there first. And believe me, there are far worse model makers than MisterCraft. There are manufacturers that use molds which MisterCraft stopped using because they considered them bad.
As always thanks for the review. Definitely an impractical aircraft. Landing would have been a nightmare. But cool that there is a model for such a rare aircraft. Thanks
Built a Lindbergh kit of the Pogo in my early teen years. This one is on my list to build, but it'll be a sci-fi/fantasy version, with jet/rocket rather than prop power, a decent colour scheme, and a launch complex to set it off. Oh, and plenty of stuff on the wings.
I believe you're confusing this aircraft with the Republic XF-84H and it's twin turbo props. It was nicknamed the Thunderscreech due to the horrific sound level it produced. It even induced a seizure in a Republic engineer working on the aircraft.
"super decals" is something Italeri normally do for their kits - it usually refers to there being multiple schemes (sometimes up to 6) provided. I'm guessing our friends at Mistercraft are just piggybacking off of Italeri's advertising/reputation.
I havs started building a KP produced version and the parts and layout of sprues look VERY similar to this one...not sure who copied who ! The propeller blades are a bit on the fragile side.
Re decals. There are also two different blues used visible even in the video, a lighter blue in the triangles made by the US stars, and a darker blue around the stars and stripes.
So the wrong history and the box says 97 parts yet when you count the number of parts on the layout its nowhere near 97....at best its 50 parts and thats being generous
I built one before I moved, the kit is great but the decals are terrible and wouldn't stay on the model. I've got a second one I'm going to convert to a French navy what if
Could you actually do a build video you havn't done one for ages. What's in the box videos are a bit boring as even a new modeler will have some idea what's in the box.
Check my community posts for the reasons why (but in a nutshell I’m not able to make any videos due to other commitments and the ones you see here were made a while ago but released on a schedule)
£13 is actually steep considering you can get new mould Airfix for £11.99 and a Tamiya 109 for £13. These kits are awful. Zero quality control. Spot the elephant in the room? 100+ parts. Errrrrrr where. Super decals ( not transfers) is a misnomer. They are the worst. Check the blue colour register. Many Mistercraft kits list 4,5,6 decal and painting plans then have only 2 or 3 complete sets with half the other decals missing. Awful thick film. Kids beginner model, nothing else. 10 boxes with different artwork for the same kit. Just different decals which are commonly the wrong ones. The quality is so basic but the quality control is a contradiction in terms. They just don't care. Some interesting subjects. Tried a P-51 because of the many decals options only to find the national insignia for some weren't even there and trying to put a nose decals on was impossible even with decal solutions from micro-sol. Wrong write up for a different aircraft entirely and no one noticed says it all. Got the Mustang for less than a fiver on Amazon. Now I know why. Box check anything from this company but impossible if buying online. They do have a few passable kits but all I can say is good luck! Nice channel but incredibly polite over this kit which has false advertising on the box. Isn't that illegal?
I think I like to give them the benefit of the doubt sometimes. It has been said I’m too harsh on kits so to hear that I’m polite makes a nice change 😂

Thanks! I’m hoping it will make for an interesting video
Another error is that there are only a little over 40 parts. Not 97.
Yup, guess they copied a little too much from other kits
This is one of my favourite strange aircraft! This was an awesome video
Thanks 😊
@@ModelMinutes ur welcome
A Mistercraft kit that It's not (very) bad, who'd say! Thanks for the great Review! Greetings from Ecuador 🇪🇨
Thanks for watching!
I have this one in my stash. I don't remember how much I paid for it, but I too would have been happier paying half the amount . 🙂

I’ve certainly seen much worse lol

That's a great idea!
That's one odd vehicle, and I love it!
Excited to watch!

Interesting aircraft XFY-1 Pogo very unique aircraft. ❤😊😅👍🤗☺️ I want this kit aircraft for myself.

certainly sounds like it came with some fun decal schemes
hey just wonding when will the next build or challange video be?
aslo keep up the good work
July or august 😊

1 it’s not uploaded/edited yet
2 on their website
3 my video will include paint information when it’s finished
@@ModelMinutes aight thanks
Actually in Poland it is available for less than £6. It's quite odd that it goes for £13 in UK.
I think it’s because I bought it from hobbycraft which usually inflates prices
@@ModelMinutesplus the fact the uk isnt in the eu anymore so it could have something to do with import fees.
@@ModelMinutesdont you just LOVE misterkit....you really are taking a chance with them.
...
These kits (or rather the company) needs to be approached with GREAT CAUTION.II have had some ups and downs with them

When will the build video of this be released
Maybe in a few weeks
How about trying to find the Lunar Lander Airfix Kit.
An interesting suggestion
where and how do you store/display the models you have made?
Most end up in storage due to a lack of space sadly
Interesting model!
The real aircraft was apparently horrible in every way!
Thank you for posting.
Then if the model is also horrible it did something RIGHT....🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for watching
Will there be a hellcat build video soon?
I hope to start that in a few months, really busy at the moment

Sounds fun!
Make sure you add a speaker to it that makes screams so loud that it makes you nauseaous. For the sake of accuracy.

😂
A good candidate for the Pond Squadron.
You should!
When can we see more builds
In the summer 🤞🏻

Yeah maybe
So how do they get count of 97 parts?
Counted them 3 times maybe 😂
I havs started building a KP produced version and the parts and layout of sprues look VERY similar to this one...not sure who copied who ! The propeller blades are a bit on the fragile side.
It is actually based on KP molds. Mistercraft uses other companies tooling.
Thanks for sharing
What people don't understand is that you buy MisterCraft kits for the box art which is always the best part of the kit.
I recycle my boxes
Would love to build this one someday. Looks great but I'd make my own decals and use those instead of these.
Yeah I’m concerned these decals will fall apart
Re decals. There are also two different blues used visible even in the video, a lighter blue in the triangles made by the US stars, and a darker blue around the stars and stripes.
I think that’s because some were printed over white and others weren’t
good vid thanks lee
Thanks for watching 😊
Where are the "94" pieces inbthe model? I counted just forty.
😂 who knows
Hobby Craft sir 'to expensive for what the represent . I do like you channel.
Yeah, it’s an expensive place to get models
Looks like one of those egg planes kits!
It existed in one or two builds, history is hilarous! 🤣🤣🤣
Lol it does a bit
So the wrong history and the box says 97 parts yet when you count the number of parts on the layout its nowhere near 97....at best its 50 parts and thats being generous
Yup we’ll spotted
@@ModelMinutes not saying its a bad kit, rather the historical info and parts count are way off

I agree...built a gew of their kits and all of them had crap decals
Thanks for sharing!
97 parts!?!? Bit of drunk counting involved by Mistercraft. 😂😂😂 Not out of character for them though!
Lol 😂
This looks like a good subject to make a framed display similar to the Airfix Spitfire starter kit that @Steamgeezer did
That would be cool
I built the KP kit back in the day,not good ,not good at all.
🫠
97 parts? 43 according to the sprue map...
Mistercrafts attention to detail strikes again
Llegué más rápido que la luz mala 🙌
