Trying to bench Rodgers after all you've built for him just 4 weeks in is absolutely ridiculous. So what how are they going to build anything else there if you were bailing on Rodgers after 4 games?
The Jets are running a HS offense. Under center=run (never play action) , shotgun=pass...almost 100% of the time. No O-line can play with that kind of predictability. Rodgers calls plays at the line, but his receivers don't know what those plays are. He throws a 5 yard Slant but the receiver is running a 10 yard Curl. He throws a 10 yard Out, but the receiver runs a 10 yard Dig. Plus, when the secondary see shotgun (obvious pass), they can scheme man-to-zone (or vice versa) and confuse everyone on offense (mostly Rodgers) or blitz ruthlessly. There is no coaching. "Let Rodgers run the show, he'll figure it out" is no way to run a professional football team. The other 10 guys on offense have no idea what is going on.
The Jets have been bad with the exception of I think that 2010 Mark Sanchez year and 2015ish with that good Ryan Fitzpatrick year. These teams that have been incompetent for basically the entirety of the 2000's (the Bears, Washington, Panthers, Dolphins, Browns, Giants, Jaguars, Jets, etc) all share that they have or had bad owners. I had, and still have, my issues with Pete Carroll, but Coach Carroll brought a culture 'expect to win, correct mistakes, expect to win again'. And the Jets need THAT level of fundamental reboot.
The Jets are so irrelevant to any interesting AFC/NFL discussion that it makes me wonder the only reason they are even being discussed is because of Aaron Rodgers wasting away on arguably the worst-coached team in the NFL.
as a jets fan, he most certainly did NOT need to go LOL, idk a single jets fan out there that thought Douglas was the problem, (or at the very least wanting him to go now, like tf is the point firing him now) he was spot on with nearly every single one of his draft picks, he tried helping Wilson by getting a QB coach and young talent around him, went out to get Rodgers when people were pressuring him to, and even went to get Adams lol as far as "problems" go, Douglas was FAR from the biggest one lets just call it like it is, Woody Johnson not knowing what tf he's doing, firing the head coach 5 weeks into the season at 2-3 with a chance of taking the lead in the division, nah just fire him and let an unexperienced person take control, what could go wrong LOL 1-6 since then and our defense has given up entirely, its been this way for 20+ years easily the worst owner in the league
Besides upper management and ownership, who else but the GM should be responsible for putting together a team with no credible backup qb option, a consistently garbage o line and hiring coaches who can't steer the considerable talent on the team to a winning situation?
