    1st Muse song I ever heard. Hooked ever since

  • @brandonb.5304
    @brandonb.5304 4 роки тому +75

    Just FYI, Matt Bellamy (who writes the songs), considers the lyrics the least important element of a song, which is why he isn't overly concerned with enunciation while he's singing. He's more concerned about giving the audience a certain feeling from his performance. I dare you to try to figure out the lyrics to the song Micro Cuts without looking them up haha. But just for reference, most of his songs are about government corruption/tyrrany/mind control, loneliness, isolation, finding meaning in life, etc. Grandiose, macro themes. Very rarely are songs personal and about himself or the individual.

      Hey Brandon, thanks for the background info on the songs, I am definitely sensing the grandiose nature of their work, very different from TOP which I usually review on my channel, their subject matter is more personal and self reflective, very neat, cheers

    I love Tom York but gotta say (even if I can see why you would be reminded of him when hearing Matt's voice) that Matt's vocal technic is in another level...

    • @brandonb.5304

      Thom is a more emotive singer while Bellamy is a more technical vocal belter.

    I think that a very good Muse song, that nobody react to, is Take a Bow. The live version (Wembley, Haarp) is *chef kiss*
    Butterflies and hurricanes, Animals, Showbiz, Exogenesis, The Handler and Thought contagion to see different styles.
    Also, yeah, those are supposed to be antennas, the theme of the gig was the HAARP project. Matt loves conspiracies, aliens, science fiction and so on, and you can find those topics on every Muse's song.

  • @HamzaDarby
    @HamzaDarby 4 роки тому +16

    Their studio tracks are equally incredible, so don't worry about reacting to studio versions (you may be able to understand the vocals a bit better in studio versions to if that would help your understanding). But yeah, they are mindblowing live.
    A small hint, is they can be political (but universally political not locally political). Also they like to delve into conspiracy theories and other weirdness. Worth taking a little read on their subject matter. 🙂 Their latest album (simulation theory) has vibes of simulated life taking over etc. (Drones) which came before that had vibes of being controlled etc.

Some songs I think you'd absolutely get into: Invincible (Wembley), Madness (Rome), Plug in Baby (Rome), Guiding Light (Glastonbury 201), Supermassive Black Hole (Tokyo Zepp), Hysteria (Glastonbury 2004 or Wembley).

      The second half of their song The Handler is basically his modern interpretation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Needless to say IT'S FREAKING AWESOME. It's my phone's ringtone. P. S. In a weird way the first half reminds me ot Haendel's Sarabande.

      @@scottanderson81 If you take a listen to Muse first album, Showbiz, you'll see some similarities. Muse is a bit more raw and unrefined than Radiohead on their first album though, but the comparisons started there and were quite heavy. Which is something that've stuck around since both are Brittish bands and fans really don't like the comparison since they're completely different since after Muse first album.
