As always, Nicol, you give great food for thought. Thank you! My word this year is "intentional" and I really am trying to live in the moment rather than buzz through my days multi-tasking. I have been making it a point to be totally focused and actively listening to whoever I am in conversation with rather than checking my watch or looking at my phone for message dings. I want my family/friends to come away from our encounters feeling they've been heard and cared about. That is what brings my soul peace. #sockset

Your ideas about minimalism really resonate with me, because a true minimalist would probably be appalled by the number of sewing machines, knitting needles , yarn and fabric I have, but they make me happy. And the things you've said about the time and choosing how and who to spend it with, well it is just such a simple truth and you put it so simply and nicely. I've never been one for friends or casual outings. Like you, I prefer the company of my family, my dogs and myself. Solitude is something I not only enjoy, but crave; to be alone with a book or knitting project is cherished time indeed. #sock set or #bag- either would bring me joy
I agree. 100%…I don’t feel the need to socialize if I don’t want to. My husband and family are my priority. I love the idea of minimalism, but I must admit my yarn addiction is a little out of control lol.

Two years ago we moved from Oregon to Arkansas and had three big yard sales plus gave away a ton of stuff. It’s amazing the things you accumulate over the years. We downsized from 4300+ sq. ft. to 1600 sq. ft. You really have to be aware of what you are taking in. I have room for one crafting hobby now and that is knitting/crochet (I think that counts as one 😂). I can always use project bags so the beautiful #sockbag is perfect. I love the yarn but I doubt I would use it. Thank you!!! 🌲

It's been hectic around here with back to school things with and for our grandchildren so I'm a little late watching your video. It is amazing to me that your counters and tables are clear! I gave up following my husband and children (now grandchildren) around and picking up after them years ago. Now it's limited to every 2 weeks I clear surfaces. Within 2 days most are starting to fill again. I resolutely ignore the clutter until the next clearing day. I realized I was making myself (and only myself) unhappy by focusing on neatness. This won't work for everyone, but now I don't fuss about my husband leaving a pair of shoes at each entry door (we have 3) and we are both happier. #sockbag

So glad I found this channel and someone who is also inspired to a minimal lifestyle. I've been living and creating a minimal household for the last few years and my family has slowly come to my way of thinking, especially now in today's troubled economic times. It is very easy to get sucked into buying especially when you see what others are showing or knitting but like yourself, I've been knitting through my stash to use what I have to give away to family throughout the year.

My husband and I just retired 3 years ago, sold our family home where we raised our children, got rid of SO MUCH (and still am)...feels amazing! I'm finding the older I get (mid 50s) I need quiet time alone knitting, to reset myself and calm down from the stress the outside world causes. I also remember back when my kids were young, running to Target and caryying bags n bags of stuff in. Its a relief to not be focused on the accumulation of things anymore. I loved this video!! I, too, am a practicing minimalist. I call it a practice because I struggle with some hoarding tendencies - esp on crafting supplies!! I come by it honestly as my Grandmother hoarded fabric like a champ! 😂 This was very timely as I have been feeling the whole bringing in more than taking out feeling my own self.
