- Ah, nostalgia! The good old days... OR IS IT?!
I felt like either I played much worse, or the bots were actually harder than usual. It felt like they were so unreal sometimes, to the point of being unfair... Hitting shots while jumping, reacting WAY faster than usual, strafing a lot more often, being less affected by the flashbangs... Needless to say, I don't recommend anyone to play this version without smoke grenades. You'll be setting yourself up for a real bad time, unless you like a challenge like I do, of course! xD
I also felt rusty controlling the recoil of 1.6's guns (they're definitely different from CZ's steam version) and my awping felt off. I'm certain there were a few bullshit moments too... The hitboxes didn't feel quite right, you know? Like for example, I'd spam bullets to a bot right in front of me, and he would kill me unscathed...
I struggled a lot in maps where I usually don't have much of a problem... Torn for example took me nearly 40 minutes to beat!
And the bots, oh my God the bots... They're EXTRA annoying here. Stupid decision making, expert blockers, bad timing for jumps, getting stuck in places (thanks to ancient NAV system), serving the dropped bomb on a silver platter, checking the wrong bombsites, having a HIDEOUSLY bad game-sense... Shall I go on?
The only redeemable feature of this version are the hostages. No complaints AT ALL about them here. CS 1.6's skins are also nice (characters and weapons).

some trivia:
1) Phil has the highest skill level among SMG guys in Cost 2. Pete will reload his gun instead of switching to pistol. He is more useful in longer battle, but Phil delivers more consistently even in fights against tougher opponents.
2) Enlisting Kirk is a suicide in higher difficulty challenges. His skill level is equal to Pete. Unless you only want his AWP, save up for Alex instead.
3) AKs share the same ammo with Scouts just like how Carbine shares the same ammo with IDF, Kriegs, and Bullpup.
4) God I love Maverick. Even after the Cost 5 becomes available, I always choose him over Barney and Steel.
5) Rooster's skill level is on par with Kyle and Arnold, both Bots in local mode. He is 0.05 sec slower than Snake, Spider, and Hawk.
6) Despite his Co-op rating, Roger sticks on you as intimately as Cooper, but more annoying.
7) D3/AU-A1 is a silenced gun just like how Scout is.
1) Nah, Pete’s and Phil’s skill are the same, its just that the mp5 has a more controllable recoil so it may APPEAR that he is more accurate, but I definitely never took notice of which bots used their pistol or not, so thats new for me! Interesting, Fadhil!
2) I dont pick awpers because the Awp is too expensive and bots tend to die often, which will make them run out of money and buy shittier weapons, in this case being the scout. Theyre good when they have the awp, but thats not what happens most rounds if we’re being realistic.
3) I knew about the ammo sharing, but thanks for using this comment as a way to inform others! It will definitely be useful to someone out there!
@@bluluxabica868 I thought Phil was Tough! I guess I need to give the files a good read again. I also agree about clingy bots, it makes me hesitate a lot about enlisting the Cost 5 bots, Tex and Ace often outshine them even during actual combat.
Regarding the D3, I just tried it on bots during LAN sessions. If I shot at them from blind spots using the gun, they always show the same erratic behavior like when I shot at them using silenced M4.

Roger, Pete and Leon have 50 skill while Phil, Oscar, Eddie, Kent and Ben have 60 skill... I wont choose Pete over the others from now on hahaha
About the G3, hmm, guess Ill have to check again, but everytime Id seen a bot using it Ive heard all of its shots.
Morris And Vern Are The First Choice, What About The Others? Cooper Or Floyd?
@@CRashed693 Morris is good, but he busts out at least half the magazine at minimum during an encounter. I usually pick Floyd, Kenny, and Cooper in Easy mode.

Here's a challenge if you are up for it: Complete Tour of Duty on Hard or Expert with only P90 teammates (Stanley, Morris, Pete, Igor, Rooster and/or Sandman). You can use any weapon.

I rememeber playing this retail CD version of the game back in 2008 on my fairly crappy compaq PC during my junior high school years. I lost countless hours in the campaign at least in easy and normal difficulty (that and deleted scenes). XD
I'm kinda glad I got to play the actual steam version and the semi-updated retail version (the nonsteam version that I sometimes play if I don't feel like using steam) in recent years, especially since there's still a dedicated modding fanbase. Which was why I started creating some of the mission packs and did some basic sound swapping mods and so on. :)

@@bluluxabica868 I'm doing well at the moment. I've been playing some Playstation 2 games recently.
In the case of the crappy compaq PC I had it had Windows Vista Home Basic so it was even more painful to use due to how slow it was.
When I said "kind glad" I meant as much as I like this game, there certain things that enrages me sometimes such as the bot ai having that one or two perfect headshots on me during the campaign even on easy difficulty, the dumb pathfinding of the hostage ai, spotty as hell hit detection at times, etc. XP
That being said, the updated version is miles better and I'm more than happy for it. :)

In this older version, in my opinion, the hostages' AI is miles better than the newest one honestly. Other than that I agree with you completely!
@@bluluxabica868 I'm playing Need For Speed Underground 2 on the ps2. I forgot how bad the rubberbanding was and even on medium default difficulty during career mode was infuriating to a point where I lower the difficult to easy where the races except for drag races oddly enough were both too easy and boring. But this meant that rubberbanding was disabled and shows how flawed the ai is. XD
@@ZetaRidge7 Oh, yes. The rubber banding was awful, I remember that well. Nfsu 1 is even worse if you can believe it. Awesome games, nonetheless!

I used to think it was a mandela effect but it turns out I did play this version of Condition Zero as a kid. The Steam version has the upgraded visuals for playermodels and viewmodels, with brand new sound effects shared between CZ and Deleted Scenes. Not a fan of the hostage system from the current CZ though, they do seem a lot more annoying to escort/keep them from escaping.
I know what you mean… when I installed cz on steam a few years ago I thought I was going mad xD to make things worse, there was no info back then talking about updated graphics. Thankfully I still owned the CD and reinstalled it to see for myself that I actually was remembering correctly. Thanks for the comment!
@@bluluxabica868 I know right? I'm pretty sure I still own the original CD for it as well, but it's been long enough since I've had a CD Drive, so I would need to mess around with USB Drives in order to get it working again (if I ever do that, not guaranteed).

Yeah, Torn is a real pain in the ass. This version is the way harder than steam. Currently trying hard mode and it burns all of my body after stupid fails and loses by points after finishing all the quests.

fucking yay , I want the that CD . I have C S C Z but it is a bit older version then the version you play . the only difference is about the hostages , In my version the hostages are like ghosts and they do not move when terrorists are not there while in your version the hostages look like the players and the bots and they started wandering when terrorists are not close .
I would like if somehow you can post me that CD or give a link from where we can download it . It is a very humble request , so plz plz plz I also wanna play this .

Floyd. On lower skilled bots I tend to prioritize weapons then skill then bravery and never coop. No idea why Vern and Cooper would be an option as I really dont like bots with high coop.
How Exactly Do Bots Coop? By Following Instructions Or Commands?
@@CRashed693 Yup! They tend to stick together, and follow orders. It's good that they follow orders, but it comes with the downside that they stick to you like glue hahaha

I recently found the CD of this version and i found that it won't count rescue hostage even you killed the last enemy you really need to guide them in hostage rescue zone

@@aareaja783 Oh, I definitely play on fullscreen! I really dont like the look of playing windowed... It ruins my immersion! I play with 1024x768 because thats the resolution I grew up with while playing Counter-strike. Im more used to it, so I feel like I play better like that. It might be placebo though xD

Yeah, definitely harder, but I dont think it is because of what you described... I’d say the skills are the same, its just that bots behaviour have been tweaked throughout the years, if that makes sense?
This Is the original version :) the other one is updated steam version in which the graphics, mechanics and hostage AI are different, bot AI and engine are the same plus we have new characters like midwest militia(which I personally hate the most) and spetsnaz (which I like).

Hey, Mr. Quack! I used to use Kenny ALL the time too back in the day xD the longer I played cs, the more I noticed how specific he is. He is great at close quarters, but if the terrorists are just a bit too far away, he becomes pretty much useless, you know?
