Eastern Orthodox Christian hymn for the Vespers of the Palm Sunday. Chanted in English by nuns from the Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA.
Thou hast entered the Holy City, O Lord,
riding on the colt of an ass,
hastening to Thy Passion,
that the Law and the Prophets might be fulfilled.
The Hebrew children greeted Thee with palms and branches,
heralding Thy victorious Resurrection.
Blessed art Thou, O Savior! Have mercy on us!"
Glory to Thee, O Christ, enthroned on high!
Today we lift up Thy precious Cross,
as we await Thy coming in glory.
The daughter of Zion is glad; all nations on earth rejoice;
the children wave branches; the disciples make a carpet of clothes.
All the ends of the earth learn to cry to Thee:
“Blessed are You, O Savior! Have mercy on us!”
