One thing has remained throughout Shadows Fall career, they produce amazing cds. Although they may do something new, they always stay true to what they do. Can't wait for this CD, it'll be the most metal birthday ever...because it is dropping on my birthday.
I think people who argue over whether or not this is "metal core" or "thrash" need to relax. Why the obsession with labels? It's Heavy Metal, period. You can't argue that. The comment section below indicates what happens when you try. I will say this...knowing these guys personally, they are far more influenced by thrash and 80's metal than anything else. The fact that Donais is now the full-time guitarist in Anthrax speaks volumes about what kind of people and band they are. Ask yourself if the guitar player for any "metalcore" band would fit in in a band like Anthrax. I think not.
I know Donais was heavily influenced by 80s metal and rock but I thought the rhythm guitarist was VERY heavily influenced by death metal. I could be wrong but I'm just kinda curious.
K Bizzy i think that sorta comes with metal in general. So many sub genres. If i personally had to put a label on this song tho id say it sounds more like modern metal than thrash
I love the death metal vocals as well as the clean singing. I think Brian is a kick ass singer and fits the band very well. I also dig the thrash and melodic guitars. I'm sure the rest of the album will be as good as this song.
OMG! I had never been to a heavy metal concert, and I am so glad that I got to see Shadows Fall in Louisville, Ky last week. They were absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to see them again and I look forward to checking out some other bands now! Jonathan...guitar...awesome. Brian....your dreads...so surprised you didn't get them caught in the big ass ceiling fan by the stage, the other guitarist...never would have visualized him as the other vocalist. The drummer....badass
I bought this album when it 1st came out not knowing what to expect (long time shadows fall fan). I was happy that they went back to the heavy side of things!!!!!!!!!!! I was disappointed in some of the albums before.
I, personally, love this song. I love the style in this song. I probably wouldn't be happy if the entire album was like this song, which it's not, it's just nice to hear a change in style and see that they pull it off flawlessly, especially with all the growls that are pulled off here.
last year was my most metal birthday ever unearth came out with there new album and its been a long time sence i have listen to shadows fall makes me happy there still together
i like the vocalist's unique voice when he sings... there is a little oldschool metallica feeling in the vocals isnt there... great and unique vocalist! great band. love the drummers way of drumming \m/ guitar riffs sounds classic metal inspired. a really good band. i remember playing Final Fight: Streetwise on my Ps2. thats where i learned about the band. then later played guitar hero 2, and the song The Light That Blinds very quickly became my favorit bonus song in the game.
fucken nice one I love the depth of the gutteral backing vocals layered with the cleans and mid range in amongst it all chunky hard hitting guitar riffs and attomic drumming fucken solid track good work boys!
Well I will have to admit that I was wrong about this one! I have been listening to the metal station on my TV the last couple of weeks while hangin' around the house and every once on a while a song comes on and I'm like "Damn this is killer!" well 3 out of 6 times it's this song! I'm gonna have to scoop this up. Didn't mean to offend anyone especially since I was so wrong!
They are getting better and stronger but I still just cant find anything to warrant more than a couple listens from this band. So much great stuff has come out this year already that it will be hard for me to justify spending much time with this. Hell New Job For A Cowboy is out and I dont see it being a must have right away either. Already with Municipal waste, Cannibal Corpse, 3 Inches of Blood, Borknagar,Overkill, Napalm Death, Black Breath, and Accept its hard to have time for this.
ha ha, yeah it never ceases to amaze me, I have 1 rule with music, if I like it, i'll listen to it, genre means nothing to me, it's all bloody metal as far as i'm concerned :-)
Call me crazy, I loved The War Within and Threads of Life, but Retribution I thought was kinda lame. They bounced back with this album, it's beyond bad ass. \m/
I bet Shadows Fall are Diablo fans..I mean come on, album release date the same as D3, and with an album title "Fire From the Sky." It fits Diablo perfectly. ;)
I hope the rest of this album is like this. straight trashy metalcore with a healthy dose of death metal. Loved SF since the '03 Sounds of the Underground tour at Waverly Hills Sanatorioum. They have evolved since then but i have loved it all. Shadows Fall rocks your face off!
See I hate people who throw genres around. Are you seriously telling me those three bands sound the same? Trivium has become progressively more and more whiny, Parkway Drive progressively more and more commercial, and Shadows Fall has stayed glued to their methods.

The epitome of Shadows Fall. Love this album. Drum work, guitar, composition. It has it all
This band probably has the best guitar sound ever!Freaking killer!
The three year wait has been totally worth it.

well said K Bizzy.
I know Donais was heavily influenced by 80s metal and rock but I thought the rhythm guitarist was VERY heavily influenced by death metal. I could be wrong but I'm just kinda curious.
Thrash mostly is all about speed and longer guitar solo.
K Bizzy i think that sorta comes with metal in general. So many sub genres. If i personally had to put a label on this song tho id say it sounds more like modern metal than thrash
definitely not metal core
Incredible song. That's all I can really say. I can't put into words how much I love this song.
Matt Bachand has one of the best death growls I've ever heard.
I love the death metal vocals as well as the clean singing. I think Brian is a kick ass singer and fits the band very well. I also dig the thrash and melodic guitars. I'm sure the rest of the album will be as good as this song.
I enjoy all of Shadows Fall's albums. In my opinion, they're all the best.
Whoever mastered this is a genius! The sound quality is some of the best I've ever heard on a metal song!
Crushing riffs. Crushing fucking riffs.
Lamb of God are the NEW KINGS!
OMG! I had never been to a heavy metal concert, and I am so glad that I got to see Shadows Fall in Louisville, Ky last week. Thats a stand out track but this whole album is killer ,Shadows fall never dissapoints !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this album when it 1st came out not knowing what to expect (long time shadows fall fan). I was happy that they went back to the heavy side of things!!!!!!!!!!! I was disappointed in some of the albums before.
The clean vocals make the song.

Badass!!!! Shadows Fall delivers again!
They shoud continue...))) amazing band !!!
Real promising. Can't wait for the whole thing!
i like the vocalist's unique voice when he sings... there is a little oldschool metallica feeling in the vocals isnt there... great and unique vocalist! great band. love the drummers way of drumming \m/ guitar riffs sounds classic metal inspired. a really good band. i remember playing Final Fight: Streetwise on my Ps2. thats where i learned about the band. then later played guitar hero 2, and the song The Light That Blinds very quickly became my favorit bonus song in the game.
Drums are brutal as hell, especially in the beginning.
It comes out on my birthday as well...Can't wait
I LOVE SHADOWS FALL !!!!!!!
Then you have good taste in music
WHEN ARE WE GETTING A NEW SHADOWS FALL ALBUM!....."\M/"
Mudvayne just announced theyre return. Here’s to Shadows Fall to follow 🤘
shadows fall are doing a reunion concert, so there is hope that they will come out of hiatus.
Brian is a legend!!!! I'll never forget how he would open the pit @ ozzfest, first thing beofre lunch. 8am whiskey and joints. cheers! epic memories!
God damn this is sounding great..I can't wait to see what the rest of the album has to offer.
these dudes are overall better musicians than log! the lead singer is a vegan beast! pure to the fullest!
Rofl...one of the most awesome comments I ever read on youtube...you made my day...
That's because Killswitch Engage's guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz was the producer of this album.
Sickest cut off the album is 'weight of the world'. The songs composition is amazing. Also the most brutal vocaly.
fucken nice one I love the depth of the gutteral backing vocals layered with the cleans and mid range in amongst it all chunky hard hitting guitar riffs and attomic drumming fucken solid track good work boys!
How funny...My birthday too. Gonna be a good day with a new Shadows Fall record!
You, my good sir, are doing it completely right!
This is the closest that Shadows Fall will come to death metal. Why are you bothering to listen to them if that is your genre that you prefer?
I got the album today and it's awesome stuff! You guys will enjoy it if you're all not too busy arguing over what genre of metal it is!
This album is AWESOME!!!!
This sounds amazing!!! Re-listening to their best now: The Art of Balance!!! May 15th, please come faster!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh a new direction for shadows fall, I approve!
The opening is godly.
Sweet cream on an ice-cream sandwich !!! Cant wait !!!
same here. i loved of one blood, the art of balance, and the war within.
Brilliant albums all three of them.
Are they still around? Shadows Fall is (or was😔) my favorite of the Massachusetts metalcore groups.
Their solos are so sick
Pre ordered. Can't fucking wait!!! This song is already amazing. Hope the rest is just as epic
Dude I know! May 7 in Atlanta! Hopefully Fear Factory will still be legendary
wow that was a very nice thrash riff, never thought they'd incoporate thrash into their songs
I see what mod is saying these guys are melodic thrash metal and that makes them gods
Hell yeah, this is sick!!! This buries anything off the new Lamb Of God cd. Also the guitar tone is brutal. Nice job.
DAAANG, i thought i had it. I heard a metal song the other day, only lyric i got was 'fire burning into the sky'' it was awesome.
This is insanely good
Gettin a heavy Morbid Angel vibe here.
There isn't a single note that's out of place on this ENTIRE album. Unbelievable...
Those death grunts are fucking epic.
Well I will have to admit that I was wrong about this one! I have been listening to the metal station on my TV the last couple of weeks while hangin' around the house and every once on a while a song comes on and I'm like "Damn this is killer!" well 3 out of 6 times it's this song! Me TOO!!! Happy MAYham Bra!!!
Wow this is awesome :D This reminds me their first 2 albums ^_^
Nice Quality man, Thanks

I like the way you put it.... But it looks nice bro !
ha ha, yeah it never ceases to amaze me, I have 1 rule with music, if I like it, i'll listen to it, genre means nothing to me, it's all bloody metal as far as i'm concerned :-)
😎🤘🤘💯
best album since the art of balance in my opinion
yeah, definitely knocked off guard there!
it sounds like u guys perfected your guitar tone
Devide And Conquer - the best track!!!! =D
Both the new logo and the song are fucking epic!!
Call me crazy, I loved The War Within and Threads of Life, but Retribution I thought was kinda lame. They bounced back with this album, it's beyond bad ass. \m/
they got so heavy!!
Amazing!
here for my daily dose.
And guitarists too. Oh, the singer too. And also the bassist. lol
Fucking right, one of my fav. solos in this song.
Tbh, The Light That Blinds is the only song by them I've liked so far.
The fact that you call yourself poopmaster and you question someone's choice of words is puzzling to me.
rank of AWESOME
New LoG album is AMAZING
Reaching through the night!!!!!!!
I can't help but hear Unearth.
Amazing
After a James Murphy song this just isn't going to cut it...
Now this is fucking awesome.
I bet Shadows Fall are Diablo fans..I mean come on, album release date the same as D3, and with an album title "Fire From the Sky." It fits Diablo perfectly. ;)

Society really owes us one 1) This cd 2) Diablo 3 after what feels like it has been developer hell for forever and 3) Max Payne 3
This has aged quite well.
There HAS to be an instrumental, it's instrumental that we get the instrumental.
#releasetheinstrumental
Why cry and bitch. This is a great tune - Death Metal , Thrash Metal, Hard Rock all mixed into one, This band is awesome.
you sir, are gonna have one hell of a birthday
(pun not intended)

MAKE AN INSTRUMENTAL OF THIS SONG!!!

See I hate people who throw genres around. Are you seriously telling me those three bands sound the same? Trivium has become progressively more and more whiny, Parkway Drive progressively more and more commercial, and Shadows Fall has stayed glued to their methods.
at 2:40 the best part!!
Surprisingly, Itunes has prevailed again.
