  • It was a wonderful start to 2021 for me when my new Evenheat Studio Pro 17 arrived! In this video I am sharing the arrival, the initial firing, and most importantly, how to create a set of test tiles as these test tiles will provide a visual reference as to how my kiln fires. Whenever you see a tutorial or guide on a project, always take the schedules offered as a starting point. Your kiln may need to be fired hotter, cooler, with more or less time than listed. Creating a set of test tiles will help you understand what adjustments to a schedule you may need based on the effect you get at different temperatures.

    Thanks for posting this! I bought a used kiln last summer that I haven’t fired up yet. Now I am motivated to do a first test!

    Lol. My test tiles are just scraps I have lying around and I just throw them on not caring how they land on the glass. No two are ever the same. Yours are so perfect 🥰

      Awww thanks! I made them the same to see how the same setup is impacted by different schedules.

    Thank you so much. I just completed my prefire on my new Studio Pro 17 with the RampMaster Control that arrived 2 days ago. I am brand new to fused glass so this video was extremely helpful. I wasn't sure where to start... so test tiles is a great project. I will also check out the Joy of Fusing that you mentioned. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos.

      You’re very welcome and congrats on your new kiln! Welcome to the world of fusing, it’s a blast! Best advice besides test tiles I can share is to take lots of notes and photos, I take pics of setup and sometimes even peeking in kiln (just be cautious if you do that and wear eye protection!) By keeping a notebook you’ll have helpful reference if you want to make something similar (or don’t want to make a mistake a second time lol!) I date my notes, so then if I find a photo on my phone I can see the date the photo was taken and then go back through my notes to that date. I’m on my fifth or so notebook. Sometimes I don’t make notes and then I’m kicking myself later when I want to repeat something or if someone asks me about my schedule!

    Thanks so very much. Just got a new kiln and we're turning the garage into a studio. Soon the new kiln will be hooked up. I remembered seeing your video a year or so ago and looked for it again. I'm grateful. Plus I'll have that visual of what happens at different temps. Your information is very thorough. Hope you've enjoyed your kiln this past year.

    Ahhhhhh I LOVE THIS! Can't wait to own a small kiln myself to do some experimenting like you, Jamaison Schuler, and Glasshoppa ...among a few others.

    Thank you for this video. Questions: You mentioned (at about 31:40 in the video) you would post the change in schedule that you made. I too have the Evenheat Pro 17" but dropped the extra for the tap controller (which I love). Again, thank you for this wonderful video. Very helpful!

    Thank you for the info! I need to run test tiles again in my big kiln. The temps I have been using for years have suddenly started over firing. Possibly the thermocouple?
    I have a couple of 3 key controllers and a couple of 12 key. One of my 3 keys is inside my air conditioned studio. The rest are in my garage with no AC! 😳 The two 12 keys are well worth the money when it’s over 110 in there. Needless to say, the 3 key in the garage isn’t used in the summer often!.

      Could also be a relay sticking if you have manual relays. Good luck, and thank you!

    I ordered that same kiln which will be delivered any week now. I have some questions about delivery. Will they bring it into my garage from the truck? How did you get it from the create to on top of the stand? Who does this?

    • @FullMoonLoonDesigns
      @FullMoonLoonDesigns  Рік тому

      Congratulations! So my husband has the tractor with forks on it, you can see him taking it off the truck. It was easy to unpack and set up. My husband carried it down for me. We ended up using one of those little things you can slide under a car on (might be a type of dolly?) and he screwed it to a piece of plywood cut big enough for the stand that comes with the kiln to sit on. This is only the 17” kiln so it’s not extremely heavy, more bulky.

    • @FullMoonLoonDesigns
      @FullMoonLoonDesigns  Рік тому

      They should call you to schedule the delivery, when they do, ask them what service they will provide at time of delivery, then you’ll k one of you need some help.

      @howardkunihiro4415 Рік тому

      My delivery guy rolled it up to the garage. I used two pipes under the kiln to lift it on to the stand. One person on each side to lift it. Not that heavy.
