I'd worry about the stresses on the hooks you installed coming out of the base of the bed. A less stressed mount would be to have a hook that's attacked at several points along a flat plate, attached to the side of the bed. I think most home hardware/depot stores carry these kinds of mounts. For the top mount I'd maybe go with something that attaches to the bottom of the strut. These "out the side" mounts generate a lot of torque.
