Absolutely agreed. Squint hard enough (metaphorically with your ears) and it almost sounds like early Morbid Angel at times, in other words, it ranks up there with Possessed - Seven Churches as that borderline bridge between thrash and the influence for death metal. But that's not why it's my favorite Slayer album, it's because the riffs just rip like hell and I think the bad production makes it better and creepier!
Hell Awaits, sinners. Such a straight up diabolical record. Crank it up and you can smell the sulfur. I imagine Old Scratch, Lucifer Morningstar, at the mixing board, wisps of smoke coming off his fingers, smiling at the band. "Yes, this is acceptable to me. You've done well. Now, gentlemen, if you will just sign here."
What a great first reaction to Slayer!!! My first time hearing Slayer was off this same album, but it was the title song and I was hooked for life. :) A GREAT album, but not their best imho. I couldn't even pick their best, there's too many! Don't be too harsh on Tom's vocals, he never claimed to be a great singer and was kinda thrust into the role. He's a bass player and an awesome frontman. And his vocals really grow on you... Anyway, since you picked a less 'popular' Slayer cut to review, try 'Live Undead' or 'Silent Scream'. They have a LOT of amazing music to offer, and this was a great review my friend. Subbed.
Unveil the hidden coffin Lift the lid of terror Feel the deadly cold Freeze you from inside Perceiving your intentions To slay the phantom form Raise the steak in malice You can not plunge it down
Dave you need to listen to Mandatory Suicide, it is a must and will give you the feeling all us thrash fans get down the back of our spines every time it is played. It is one of the best songs live!
The bass, the slow march in the middle, this has been my favorite metal song about vampires since 1987 when i was 16. The 2016 remasters of Hell Awaits & Haunting the Chapel EP are much better fidelity & sound quality. Otherwise id suggest live versions cuz the originals sound recorded in a dumpster. 🤘🏽💀🤘🏽
Great reaction video dude, especially for this being your first ever Slayer song. I'd like to just say when you mentioned the vocals weren't as good as James Hatfield, you're both right and wrong. You're right in regards to Tom Araya's vocals not being as 'melodic' (for lack of a better term) as the vocals of James Hatfield; but you're also wrong in saying that Tom's vocals aren't as good. By that I mean that Tom Araya has always had a more 'gritty/screaming' style of singing, meaning that Tom Araya utilizes much more 'vocal-fry' technique in Slayer's songs, at least when he's not doing the higher pitched screaming. Now on those RARE occasions (mostly in Slayer's early days, meaning up to and including their album South of Heaven) when Tom Araya actually sings briefly in a purely melodic tone, it's blatantly obvious that Tom had formal training because not only can you clearly hear his Vibrato, but in the early days Tom's Vibrato actually sounds BETTER than James Hatfield. But that aside, again great reaction video dude. Looking forward to more Slayer reactions. Oh by the way, you just got a new subscriber.
Hey Dave, been loving all your reactions! Would you be interested in checking out something a bit more modern(-ish)? One of my favorite bands - Alter Bridge, and their song 'Blackbird'. Preferably live, from Amsterdam! ua-cam.com/video/JUh8NOTW1Ws/v-deo.html
What song would you have preferred? I’m not asking as an attack, genuinely curious. I’m a big fan of this album and this song in particular for the many tempo changes throughout, just when you think it’s over they come back with a different pace.
You chose a great song by Slayer to start off with. One of my favorite songs, actually. You earned a sub, my man.
Great song!
Thanks for the sub Chief Chewie (great name btw 😂👍)
The best dam lyrics right next to Angel of Death
I just sub because no ever reactions to this album to be honest this is slayers best work
Totally agreed. How the wait is probably my favorite album. But no one reacts to it.
Tom Ayra he's on Bass and Singer, Tom sounds nothing like James I've never heard anyone say that before in my life there totally the opposite!
The most darkness and frightening song of Slayer.
This is one of their very best tracks. All elements of thrash apparent. Brilliant!!.
For me hell awaits is the best slayer album, With the best riffs and solos!

I remember " Metal Storm, Face the Slayer! " from Slayer it was about some knight going to kill Satan only to get whipped by him.
Please!!!! react to World Painted Blood from Slayer!!!

Angel of Death lyrics version! Make it happen bro.
Unveil the hidden coffin
Lift the lid of terror
Feel the deadly cold
Freeze you from inside
Perceiving your intentions
To slay the phantom form
Raise the steak in malice
You can not plunge it down

Please react to metal church beyond the black lyrics. It's a super underrated and influential band and there is hardly any reactions of them on UA-cam
Please react to “Silent scream” by Slayer 🙏

I bet I can still play this song even after all these years. Or maybe not.

Hi man, you must react to Behind the crooked cross, I'll be waiting your reaction. A greeting from Colombia.
mandatory suicide, lesser known but amazing slayer song
Great song, but Mandatory Suicide was played in almost every Slayer setlist since the album was released. I wouldn't call it lesser known at all.
Good song choice...a little bit down their catalog but a favorite of true fans.
spill the blood
anything from south of heaven love it
Great reaction. Metallica no leaf clover
Nobody's reacted to Gemini by the mighty SLAYER!
They played it live at the final Slayer show at the Forum a few months back. Love that song.
Great reaction video dude, especially for this being your first ever Slayer song.

you can't swoon your way through a song like that... you have to sound demonic...
I think he'll like Bad Seed by Metallica

Dont forget Fight fire with fire from Metallica
nice reaction, react to death, any song would be a good choice haha👍 i recommend you spirit crusher, great bass lines and amazing guitars/drums
A little early for death dont you think? Hes only really listened to Metallica so far. We need to ease him into metal
ANGEL OF DEATH
much better production than this one
this song isn't that good from slayer. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy Slayer but there are far better songs.
Their most progressive track for sure, a matter of taste I guess, personally it's one of my favorites
It's about vampires if you were wondering
One of my favorites as well.
