I laughed at the "Rune Factory is a knock off of haverst Moon" part. Seriously man, I know this is very old, but Rune Factory is an spin off of Harvest Moon, and thus part of the series. and from the same people, Natsume, although made through colaborations with other studios. Personally I felt Rune Factory Frontier being the Best "Harvest Moon" avaiable on the Wii by far, but to each his own; after all, it's just opinion based.
Animal Parade is my favorite HM title. I've played through the whole storyline at least 3 times. I also have a family in about year 5 after I restarted with all the goddess tools. 😍
@Viviankazune , according to GameFAQs, Animal Parade was released in England sometime in December of 2010. It's a pretty big step up in overall improvement, compared to Tree of Tranquility.
What a great review! Thank you! I mainly played animal parade to marry each of the bachelorettes... Lol. I uploaded the marraiges on my channel!:D IN 1080p HD!! Almost done uploading them all! I completely agree that the storyline in animal parade is much easier to follow and unavoidable. lol. Thank you again for the review! GO HARVEST MOON!
hmm i didnt quite catch whether or not you mentioned how long the loading screens take. i heard that there were less. which is good, but call me A.D.D i have an issue more with how long they take then rather the quantity.
You didn't get your cow? I think all I did was go into the barn where you can buy the livestock and talk to the guy. I got it on my first or second day.
What about the mechanics - how do they compare to ToT? Does farming, mining, etc; feel as compelling? Does it mesh better? I haven't played ToT, but I've been wanting to get this or that one.
As a fan of the Harvest Moon series i must say I look forward to your reviews on them. Thanks again for a fantastic review. If you like any of the past harvest moons you have to like this one.
I've actually played Animal Crossing, as well! The one for the Gamecube and I have the Wild World. I love those. Thanks for the advice! I think I'll get RF:ToD as I like the whole fighting/farming/getting a family combo. But I might also look into Magical Melodies, as well. Thanks for replying back!
great review but I NEED some help with this game. I am now at the red bell in the game and I have all of the ors but now the blacksmith tells me I need to find chloe but I can't find her, and I hear from other people that if you do find her she won't come with you to the blacksmith. has anyone else had this problem and if you have can you please tell me what you did to pass the red bell part. thanks
I am thinking about Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, or this game. I like both the Rune Factory series, and the Harvest Moon series, but I can't decide which one I would like more. Anyone out there who has played both?
I agree. Since they are basically the same price new right now. If anything AP is cheaper. However, the game isn't as easy as ToT, but its more satisfying. AP isn't hard, it just makes you work more for what you can get in ToT.
I dont know whether to get tree of tranquility or animal parade. I want something a little more relaxed, like animal crossing, where you dont really have to do any sort of storyline if you dont want to. can you help?
i have been looking all over the internet and im not sure if its just a glitch or something but whenever i stop walking i start sweating no matter how much stamina i have.so is there anything i can do about that cuz its really annoying.
I've only played the one for the ps1...i could still play that because it was almost never ending entertainment...how does this stack up to that and the other versions...?
Well I always thought it should of been the other way around in ToT where useing the tool should of took less energy and upgrading it gave you the new power. And yes the gimck was the many animals you could ride so yeah. I also really liked the RF games for the DS it was just HM with a sword but it did a lot of stuff pluse having someone water you plants for you is nice. Also your review of ToT was the reason I bought the game and it was great, Ill have to pick this one up down the road.
Would you recommend I get Tree of Tranquility or Animal Parade? I'm not going to buy it right away since I just got Tale of Two Towns recently. But I'd just like to know which one would be better for me in the future. Maybe I should watch more lps to see which one I like better, but maybe you could recommend which one I get first?
I think the iron/upgraded pots make sense. Any game, normal weapons are pretty weak. When you get stronger weapons, it'll become better and have special moves... It makes these upgrades special. :P Iron watering cans are special. :D
Having to mine for ore to upgrade tools is a pretty common trope of the HM series...that's probably the sole reason they included it. Not seeing it's right, but it's to be expected by this series by now. I love HM, but it's an example of a series that doesn't really evolve or innovate often. I just bought Animal Parade, and I actually like it a lot...but I agree with some of your main points about the huge world and the bad camera.
I was thrilled with the time. My first exposure to the Harvest Moon Series was Tale of Two Towns. I never had enough time in the day. Then there was the two towns thing, which was just annoying, it took forever to get to the other town. Mix in the too fast clock and yea... if I wanted time to do anything, I needed to mostly stick to one town, which made it feel like half of a game. Animal Parade was my second game in the series played, I haven't touched ToTT since I got it.
I am playing ToTT now and I feel the same, argh I can't stand that huge path from one town to other, I can't wait to finish the damn tunnel wich will still take forever. I am just finishing year 1 now.
Honestly, since this one seems to be harder, probably Tree Of Tranquility, it's easier and probably cheaper to buy used. It also has more of the basics, this one has a lot of stuff he left out, including the Circus animals.
Thank you very much for this review! I was debating whether or not to get this game because there were negative comments on it. Like the characters move too slow or it loads to slow and people said they wished they didn't get it. I think i might get it. Great job!
i agreed with everything you said! the cameras when i first started out.. i was like wtf? i missed like 5 areas for the first month cause of it. as for it being harder... i have 4 of 5 bells already and i'm only on summer year 1. tree of tranquility took me like 2 years to get 4 rainbows. so, no, i don't find this one harder. the long walks are so daunting. especially if you're trying to make friends! BUT i gotta say, i'm LOVING this game. i'm hooked.
AWESOME! and I agree on the Rune Factory Frontier. Although fun because you can battle... it's way too difficult. I can't wait to get this game! I'm saving up for it! ;)
What I really liked a lot more about this game then the ToT is that for the bells you don't just collect items, you have to get friendships with people and actually work for it =) I know a lot of people consider this a downer, but I thought it interesting for I got to see more events of the town peope
thank you for your response, you should definitely try Harvest Moon A New Beginning for the 3DS, in my opinion this is the best harvest moon since back in the Nintendo 64 days, if not the best ever ;)
@coollyaid I like hearing the lil wiviewer reviews' it's nice to hear a kids perception once in awhile. It's really honest and especially good if your going to buy the game for a kid
well, ive played almost EVERY Harvest Moon game!! My faveorite at the moment is Hero of Lef valley due to its story line and characters.. my 1st ever game was DS and im currently playing Animal Parade (started 2 days ago) which i LOVE! i can sorta get over the crappy camera angles since its such an awesome game but it IS frustrating!
you can get a free baby cow from the ranch like a day or two later, depending on when you visit, just go into the horn ranch barn and cain will offer you a pick from 3 calfs and a free brush!
@realgone23 Rune factory 1,2, and 3 were not made by Natsume. Marvelous made the Rune Factory series and Harvest Moon series while Natsume localized it. Just a fact. :3
Which one do you recommend the most? If you don't mind me asking...I really don't know the difference between any of them, I'm a huge HM fan but I've never played any Rune Factory games and would love to, I just don't know which to start with.
I got ToT last year for Christmas and I sold it the day after. I absolutely LOVED magical melody and a wonderful life. So, I asked for ToT. I got the game, and HATED the crap out of it. Loading was bad, and I just didn't like it. I'm wondering is I should try this one...
Is this harvest moon game better than Tree of Tranquility? Please answer buying one of the two on my first day of summer and I want to know which is better.
@coollyaid There are 100's of people who just review games. Most of the games are just reviewed by me, but occasionally my kids join in. People have really responded to it and like the perspective they give.
i just got this game today as it just came out in my country. played it for 7+ hours straight so far. it's awesome. found the red bell quest annoying though since i spent 12 game days in the mine trying to find some gold ore. it's way too rare.
You should consider reviewing Harvest Moon: Magical Melody. I think it's better than BOTH of the other Harvest Moon Wii games. Magical Melody started life on the GameCube, but has been ported to the Wii since then.
@coollyaid If they thought they could do it. My last review has the LilWivieiwer taking the lead. I am still there but I took a step back and let him do it.
Harvest Moon... ahh, when I held my first game of harvest moon in my hands, I was SQUEALING SO FRIGGIN LOUDLY! Now, I stare at reviews like this, of games I've already played or am still playing now, and squeal even louder than that. I am so addicted to Harvest Moon, it's kinda not funny... even thought I still laugh at myself for it :)
.. Does anyone like Harvest Moon DS and the Harvest Moon Gamecube versions the best? I grew up with those, and they were some of my first games.. Unfortunately, they're all broken, but.. the memories will forever be there for me. :)

or if you dont wanna go running around for stuff like seeds and furniture later in the game try buying a phone that will deliver your purchased items to you the moment you buy them and exit the phone screen, if i ever need seeds or most of the other items like machines and plots and clothing etc i just use the harvest moon phone
I haven't played a Harvest Moon game since FoMT, not because all the new ones looked bad or anything, but merely because FoMT has kept me occupied for that long.

Animal Parade is my favorite HM title. I've played through the whole storyline at least 3 times. I also have a family in about year 5 after I restarted with all the goddess tools. 😍
This review was actually what got me into Harvest Moon in the first place, and this is still my favorite game!
Rune Factory is an amazing game that should not be missed....
+Darren Davenport Would you say it's better or worse than Harvest Moon: Animal Parade?
@@TharosTheDragon Yes actually.
@@starietiger9927 - Which?
@@TharosTheDragon Sorry. I'd say it's better.
But that's only because of preference.
This review was upload the day after my birthday! in 2009! Thanks Wiiviewr!
The wii games of harvest moon are so underrated! :(

Thanks for the review too.

If you hold A when spreading seeds it will drop in a 3x3 square (9 bags of seeds in one drop) really useful I must say!
What game didd you prefer..animal parade OR tree of tranquility??
I have one correction to make: you don't have to plant the seeds one-by-one. If you hold down the A-button you have the option to plant a 3x3 square.
Well I always thought it should of been the other way around in ToT where useing the tool should of took less energy and upgrading it gave you the new power. I don't know how Rune Factory is a nockoff, i have a little logo on the front of mine that says "Part of the Harvest Moon family"
But whatever.
Agreed. The camera may suck...but its workable.

Is there any cheats like the z cheat for HM ANWL for GC? Or even a max money cheat?
Thank you.
Should I get ToT or AP
I'm gonna buy my first Harvest moon game...
which would you suggest?
I reccomended this review. lol I don't know if you were planning it but still... saw it coming.

"Everyone from the town that was populated from ToT has abandoned that place and has come to this town" :D
Is this harvest moon game better than Tree of Tranquility? Please answer buying one of the two on my first day of summer and I want to know which is better.
Wasn't Rune Factory made by the same people? That would explain the similarity.
That last sentence of your comment made me think of Billy Mays.
Another diffrence between AP and Tree of Tranquility is that you
can ocurt the Harvest god, Harvest goddess, Wizard, and Witch!
My favorite one and all time favorite is Harvest moon 64 first one that i got when i was little and set me to never stop playing games like this one
Love this game so much more then free of tranquility! But magical melody is still my favorite from all the harvest moon series :)
I like this game. And I am getting Rune Factory Frontier for Christmas so I hope I'll enjoy it as much too.
@coollyaid

I was going to pre-order, but I couldn't afford it :(. The Rune Factory games are a million times better on the DS. They did do something that annoyed me quite a bit, they removed the Wi-Fi feature from both this and Sunshine Islands. Harvest Moon happens to be one of my favorite game series though so I can't complain. My step-sister wonders how it can be so addicting since I can play Harvest Moon for 16+ hours straight XD!
I love the Harvest Moon series of games. They are always such good games. I have really been looking forward to this game in particular: I decided to wait for this game rather than getting Tree of Tranquility.
It's more goal-oriented than Animal Crossing, and has more tangible rewards for putting time/effort into it, and better rewards for playing better.
I agree with Kirinoko, though, this game is much better suited to handhelds.

Cutie Gal they cost more that way though. Convenient time wise, but not cost wise.
lol I just saw my old avatar from ToT coming out of her house and noticing the fact that everyone's gone and freaks out like "WTF!?!?!"
Hey umm I cant get Kathy to come outside the bar before 16:00. Any ideas? Nice vid btw.
It can play with dolphin emulator?
@princessofdarkness8
I just went into the barn where you buy cows/chickens and he offered it to me.
Can these cows get any more adorable
@Achille12345 I bought mine on Amazon last year, plus it's got the free shipping. This game is defiantly hard to find in stores.
I haven't played a Harvest Moon game since FoMT, not because all the new ones looked bad or anything, but merely because FoMT has kept me occupied for that long.
Personally, I have the same opinion as him. I think the problem is, I'm just too used to the old play style of Harvest Moon from back when it was just a GB game. I think if 'd started off on the Wii versions of the games, or even the newer DS versions like Grand Bazaar, I'd probably like Rune Factory... But hey, what do I know. :)
isn't getting a spouse necisary to getting the purple bell
I don't particularly agree that Rune Factory is a "cheap knockoff" it fell short of my expectations. I'm glad someone else agrees with me. I liked the idea of it though and hope they improve on furture Wii titles.
Animal Parade, in my opinion, is a big improvement on TOT and my second favorite HM title behind A Wonderful Life. The upgrade system was absolutely ridiculous! Though I think that it more than makes up for itself in other areas. Anyway, I'm a big fan of your reviews. Keep it up! C:
58 seconds in calls it animal circus?!?!!? im so confused
Will you be reviewing Harvest Moon: My Little Shop? I've been addicted to it, it's super cute! Not anywhere near as complex as most HM games, but I'm sure you'd like it. It's pretty much running a shop with mini games, haha.
You should compare TOT or AP!!! I wanna know which is better to buy lol
In my opinion, get Animal Parade. It's really good, and nice and relaxed. There is a storyline but it's not hard and not a necessity.
wiiviewer, would you say that this game is good enough for the top ten list of 2009?
I never played a Harvest moon game. After watching this, I feel like I want too.
