In my dreams, my wife and I take a large toy hauler out to a remote campground where she’ll stay and read while I go out on the trails in my tricked out general. Of she says “in your dreams!”
I have two older razor 800S. Love those little side by sides but the General will be my next purchase. Good video, just need to trust the machines capabilities in the rocks.
We agree 100% the best part about the general is the massive dump bed. We take our cooler and chairs to ensure a comfortable lunch/dinner. We hit longer trails and the kids love to stop to eat and play. Thanks for the review!
Nice video guys. Not to nit pick but the General competes directly against the Can Am Commander and the Yamaha RMax 1000. The Polaris Ranger competes against the Honda Pioneer and Can Am Defender. Roman was right the machine is definitely capable of doing more than he was but with a bit more practice he will be driving over stuff like that all day.
Thanks for the review. Seemingly takes queues from Japanese mini-trucks - 4x4 with locking dif, engine under the bed, but they have 5sp manual. Thinking for touches $5-$20 they could have added to make this stand out. Guess you've run other SUVs through, but Suzuki Samurai/Sidekick or Wranger.
If you keep the power up and steady through the rocks it is easier and you won't feel tippy. Backing off the throttle gives you the uneasy feeling. Put Kase or Alex on it to bounce through that area. Stay safe you guys and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas with your families.
I still don't really understand the point of the steering wheel centered marker. Shouldn't you be able to tell if the wheel is centered based on where your hands are positioned and if the vehicle is turning or not?
I know you admitted you didn’t have the kahunies (sp) but a more steady throttle and speed up those rocks would have be less nerve racking. Keep up the good content tfl crew
Seriously looking at this rig to replace my ATVs, so far I haven't seen anything that would make me shy away from it. Watching the guy try to shift that ATV says that Polaris still does not have a good shifting system, still. It is very cumbersome when you are out on the trail.
Luv your content guys. Over the last few years it has steadily improved. Having said that, I noticed that Roman always seems to stop or let off the gas exactly when he hits a hole or sinks in a dip, which stops the vehicle dead in its tracks, and then tries to power out of it or give it gas at the worst possible time. If you were on a motorcycle, it would be like setting your frt wheel down just before or against a log instead of setting it down on top of the log. Drives me crazy Lol! Other then that, keep up the good work.
Was Roman trying to climb on high Range? I own a General 1000 Deluxe and it's never that jumpy when I do rock crawling. And I am running a Dalton clutch kit on mine.
Turf mode is also better used in small areas where you're trying to back up or turn around a tree in a tight forest situation. The turning radius makes a huge difference.
The Can Am Commander is competition for this machine not the Defender. The Defender is competition with the ranger. I own a Commander 800 and it was substantially cheaper than that.
They need to know what they are talking about before they do these videos. Absolutely no Polaris off road units have a “strap” to open the doors (mentioned at 16:21 in the video). The rangers and the 570 RZRs have a latch to open the net but none of the units have a “strap” to open the doors. I have a General XP 1000. It’s only 1.5 inches wider than the unit they are testing in this video. They claim the unit they are test is 60” wide it is actually 62.5 inches wide. I have gone through much more challenging terrain than what they are showing. They are very capable units. You just can’t go as fast as you could with a RZR XP 1000. I can go any where my buddies can with there RZR’s just not quite as fast, due to the difference in the suspension. I have heard descriptions of the general as truck like. It is more Jeep like with a bed to carry gear in. Although you can do more than 2x the miles in the same amount of time in the general vs a Jeep due to the much better suspension. Also the XP 1000 turbo is not $30k! It retails for $19,999 base unit in 2021 models. The top of the line RZR PRO XP 1000 Premium 2 seater retails for $26,499 base unit. If your going to do these videos please try and get your information correct.
Polaris does a great job at making things look good and sound good on paper, but they are simply built like trash. They DO NOT last at all and are maintenance whores. I have a few friends that have XP's and they are always broke. And when they do run, they are okay for a few days on the trail, but then someone always breaks down. The only ones that seem to last and don't have any issues are the Yamaha's. Even the new Talons are kind of junky; issues with the sub trans and super harsh ride.
Southern Utah, Zion National Park etc “Knowledgeable and Unknowledgeable” users/operators/drivers entire Polaris’s models one of four line-up 4WD it’s highly common smash breakages CV-Joints.
I'm sorry I can't think of two worse people to do a review that actually involves off road driving... let me come and do the driving, you two can just talk...
You must have a mind reading device because you just said word for word what I just thought...let them talk..let me show everyone what its capable of 😄
What happened to the big Canadian dude. He was better for the offroad channel. He pushed the machines & vehicles to their max. Havent seen him in any videos for awhile now.
You guys should get a different crew for your off-road segment... any true side by side guy would have pushed that thing up that small hill even with the wheel in the air.
In my dreams, my wife and I take a large toy hauler out to a remote campground where she’ll stay and read while I go out on the trails in my tricked out general. Of she says “in your dreams!”
Kinda where I am... RZR 60” in cargo trailer, Four Wheel Camper in my truck bed.
I have two older razor 800S. Love those little side by sides but the General will be my next purchase. Good video, just need to trust the machines capabilities in the rocks.
All I care about is if it can outrun a cougar or a wolf. I'm older so speed is only needed to elude threats. Great review!

Would be awesome to see ypu guys to a side by side comparison between this and the new Rmax!
I bought the rmax and love it. both are great machines
@@bertpritchett317 I have a 2020 x2 850 of course they released the rmax 5 months later I want one gonna try to trade mine in one of these days
Cool beans. Look forward to seeing it on David's Ranch. Keep it coming.

How well do you think the 2024 General 1000 premium would hold up would it be worth getting the 1000 XP sport or the 1000 premium?
Roman telling Alex a "Dad" joke and then explaining it, was funny. When you get older the risk versus reward factor changes.
I know you admitted you didn’t have the kahunies (sp) but a more steady throttle and speed up those rocks would have be less nerve racking. Keep up the good content tfl crew
In the middle of this video I got an ad about suing Polaris for these machines bursting into flames.
guess that's a sign to get a can (h)am
Same lmao
Who makes the engines for Polaris now? A few years ago it was Fuji but I think that has changed?
Seriously looking at this rig to replace my ATVs, so far I haven't seen anything that would make me shy away from it. Watching the guy try to shift that ATV says that Polaris still does not have a good shifting system, still. It is very cumbersome when you are out on the trail.
I could tell Tommy likes his jeeps more, but tell me what does he think of the mahindra roxor.
I have the new rmax1000 and with the d mode switch in crawl mode, grandpa would easily have made that fairly easy route
Cuyose how do you like that RMax? Does the engine scream like it’s geared to low?
Lol funny man. Made me laugh

CVT engagement in the video appears really grabby. Is that the case in the real world with Polaris SxS UTVs?
The Yamaha Rmax is the class leader in suspension travel with 14.2 up front and 16.9 in the rear.
I use Polaris machines at work. They're ok but I simply can't see or feel why it's so expensive.
Gees there was an ad in the middle of the video saying how dangerous Polaris Atv’s are
Was Roman trying to climb on high Range? I own a General 1000 Deluxe and it's never that jumpy when I do rock crawling. And I am running a Dalton clutch kit on mine.
Cool video TFL .. you should race them on Yackadaga
Can turf mode save your off road tires when driving on asphalt frequently to get to and from trails?
How many TFL channels are there? I just subbed to 3 more.
Roman you were good! Wouldn't gave tipped on any of your lines, you would have had a fun ride😀
Hello boys!? What about the Can Am Commander? Thats what the General was made to compete with.
Im waiting for the ike gauntlet and the offroad of the trx 🤩
I bought a General Sport in September and it didn't come with a roof.....
If they would make a Highlifter Edition with the geared reverse non-turf mode transmission, snorkels & 30s - I would have bought one.
You never mention or test gators. I am
Sure they don’t have press vehicles but maybe borrow one or buy one to sell
Love the Review
Mine didn’t come with a roof
Jesus Roman... you can do that whole trail in 2 wheel.
Love those UTV/SxS reviews! How about a review of some offerings from John Deere?

Great review. Just bought a General. Where are you all riding?
This is Iron Clads by Allenspark, CO
as awesome as this machine is...at the end of the day it's still a Polaris
Agree
But at the end of the year it will not last.Only Honda and Yamaha
@@alextsatryan9014 had a general for a couple of years, after 800 MI it started having problems

Looks like it is more reliable than the Range Rover.
Very cool..
What’s all the chunking? Oh wait it’s a Polaris nvm...
Lol funny
Honda pioneer 700
Looks like a lot more fun than rock climbing with a pickup , no dumb ass entertainment center , Tommy looks disappointed , ha ha ha
Take it to moab.
There is one way to drive a side by side and that is flat out
This thing is garbage, needs crawl control like the RMAX.
Good pun. Lol
Xool
Need a new driver
You guys are not the best offroad drivers, sorry to say. Or you guys like to make things look a lot harder than they actually are...
You guys need to stick to street cars. Off-roading is just not your thing!
This thing is a joke. Neither too practical nor a real joy ride.
1st 🤪
Soft
Why is the throttle so jerky? Is it the CVT doing that?
Im smoother than that offroad driving my manual tacoma.
