Intro played next to the fretboard, along with slap parts. Chorus played between pickups. Dynamics vary a lot. Intro should be from piano to mezzopiano. Used just neck pickup sound

I'll clarify everywhere: this is (or was) an early transcription with no reference in finger positions by Flea, so some things may vary in that aspect. Notes, i think, are right. It's a nice song to practice lots of different playing styles and techniques with the Flea touch

Man you looks so calm playing this. Whenever I attempt it I'm sweating bullets, my fingers perpetually a millisecond away from nailing the next note or spiraling into chaos...
It's encouraging to watch your technique and know that I'm on the right track, I just need lots and lots more practice to refine it.

Late to the party I know, but I wish I could like this comment more than once. It absolutely captures where I'm at.
The only way to get rid of that is to play this song and play it a lot. Even if its at 75% speed, be meticulous with nailing every single detail and feeling the song. Its all about feeling those off beat pops

The best way to get all the ghost notes and timings right is to start prcticing slower and get a bit faster over time
Oh and dont kill your fingers somtimes you just need to take a rest

Since there's no live footage yet, i don't know if fret positions are right, but i think notes are right enough and the transcription is comfortable. Probably i'll do another version when more information is available

i think that part of the fretboard for the intro sounds a little bit more like the studio version, i might be wrong of course

I love this song because of the fact that the bass is like the star. It's almost like since John wasn't in the band for this song and Josh's playing is... different, Flea really stepped up to take the lead

I love progressing without realizing... a few months back (just in August, I started playing bass as I was hype for fear Inoculum and was like I NEED to learn bass, I been playing guitar for years tho) but I thought like oh I got guitar down, bass is cake... I lied to myself. Altho I picked it up easier cuz I have the general understanding of music. But I could not for the life of me figure this out. Gave up and moved on. This morning I woke up and went out and my playlist got around to some RHCP. This came on and I was like damn, yknow what. I'm just gonna force myself to learn it. Sat down for 10 minutes and got it within that time. It just came so much more natural and I hadn't even realized that I was capable of it until I tried it, when I was completely inept 2 months back. Granted, not as beautiful sounding as your version, but still.

I wouldn't say that at all lol. And RHCP is pretty much all I listen to these days. Especially Mothers Milk Era RHCP. It's completely different and quite shocking if you grew up with the Chili Peppers in the 2000's
