Jill Whelan is SO true when she says that the show was the first one that multiple generations could watch together. My grandmother from Hungary would visit us in the winter and we’d sit and watch Dr. Bricker chatting up a lady. I was interpreting the show for her, and there were some seasons that needed no interpretation…,like Dr. Bricker smooching with a passenger ;-). We loved watching it together. I watched it when I was about 8! (I’m 51 now).
Captain Stubing just passed away this morning...... R.I.P. Captain of my favorite T.V. show.

This show was great when it came out, you couldn't get that many top actors to come on a show like that ever again. The 70s and 80s were the biggest times for television.
I’ll tell you why! Gavin Mecloud is a true gentleman and I believe he plays himself as captain Stubing.❤️

This show aired in open TV in Mexico back in late 70s and early 80s. It was dubbed in Spanish and it was called "El crucero del amor" (The Love Cruise). I was just a boy and I used to watch it. It reminds of the sweet years of my childhood.
Here in Italy my generation grew up with this show! It was also dubbed in Italian! Amazing, I love it! And u know what ? My cousin first degree is a captain on a Princess Cruise Ship! Hilarious isn’t it !
That's so cool to know that Italians watched this show too. Love Italy, beautiful country and people. My best friend is from Badi, Italy she moved to US at aged 11 with her family!

I just now watched this video 5 years later in 2023. I have recently started to watch the old reruns of The Love Boat on the Pluto TV app on my smartphone over a month ago. I haven’t seen this show since the mid 1980s when I was around 15 or 16 years old. I am IN LOVE with this show all over again! Some of the storylines apply to my life. Some make me laugh, some make me cry, and some just tug at my heartstrings. Some of the episodes actually teach me a good lesson and some are excellent reminders on how to be a better person. This show has literally saved my life. I love you, Love Boat! ♥️
When I was a kid we got one candy bar a week at the grocery store. I used to save it for Love American Style, then it got saved for Love Boat. I had very simple tastes as a kid 😎
Love this show.. Watched as a kid and now as an adult I have the show on DVD and watch all the time... Even been on 6 cruises

I had a crush with Doc. I still love watching the reruns, still falling in love with every episode.
When Doc wasn't treating passengers for sea sickness, he did alot of work as a gynecologist on the show LOL.
Started watching these again recently on Pluto TV. I never realized how many ladies Captain Stubing romanced on the ship. Doc was the supposed ladies man, but Merrill definitely held his own.
Let's face it- Gavin MacLeod made the show with with his commanding presence as Capt. Stubing and whatever he said, goes. Bon Voyage, Captain!!!

I love all you guys -been watching Love Boat since I was a teen and still recording it at 66 OMGAWD I CANT BELIEVE HOW TIME HAS PAST BUT I want you to know you’ve helped me through some rough times - such a great distraction of comedy & love ...... with no sports to watch because of this current upside down world, I watched probably 12 different episodes of the LB this weekend on the Decades channel marathon. lots of memories.

Great show that only Spelling could produce! The comedy for us was that couples could fall in love within 24 hours! The networks need to bring this back!

Looking back at this show now as an adult, I have to point out the degree of promiscuity that occurred in each episode. And, although I get more of a kick out of LB now, I can’t really classify it as family entertainment for that reason.

They fired her, should have sent her to rehab like they do for stars today. They didn't help her at all, sad! And yes, it wasn't the same without her. She brought sunshine to the crew. Vicky was ok but she didn't have the charisma Julie had!

I saw a couple episodes, could never get into it. I like a bit of reality with comedy. The fact they treated women like dirt turned me off as well. The fact the ships personal especially the moron purser were always chasing after female guests like they were desert on a platter never set well. Not to mention crew members on cruise ships are strictly prohibited from any kind of personal interaction or relationships with guests.
Back then there was love on boats, today, there's COVID and HARASSMENT.

Cynthia (Julie) Tewes was not able to make it to this reunion, but she's doing just fine.
Alan Morris Cynthia? I thought her name is Lauren..? She seems the the one cast member that didn’t age as well as the others, sadly. The drugs and the firing really must have taken their toll and in this reunion, the others don’t really acknowledge her as they should. Jill Whelan was a very minor character compared to Julie McCoy. I believe there was cover up here because Tewes was too self conscious to attend this. Just my take. Drugs are a terrible thing and a life / career ruiner.
