LYRICS:
Wake up in the morning ten minutes late, I
hit the snooze like a Chris Brown date I
brush all my teeth, I'm driving, and I'm on my way
But I'm floored when I walk into the joint I'm
more confused than Joe Namath with a coin my
boss' memo says starting today
I'm working 1 to 5
My hours keep on falling
Now I'm not full-time
All the creditors keep calling
Said I could keep my plan
I'm no longer a believer
My new deductible's so high
you'd think its dad was Jeremy Bieber
Working 1 to 5
Not trying to be controversial
it's just I'm home and I'm
watching J.G. Wentworth commercials
Say goodbye full time
and hello to under-employment
Because I'm working fewer hours
than a Flappy Bird high score
Working 1 to 5
I'm no longer out there toiling
My work schedule
is less complete than a Sochi toilet
Oh the New York Times
assures me that it's liberating
from what it isn't clear I guess
employment compensation
Working 1 to 5
Insecure and broke that's right
Working 1 to 5
Like the Obamacare website
Working 1 to 5
It's just a simple task
It's like they drilled the Keystone XL pipeline
directly up my...
As a business owner I had to chuckle a little.
Dexter Lecter and the cry as you see your taxes
This needs a sequel, "The Unemployment Line" a C-19 update.
Eventually he can also make the sequel "The Bread Line" a Green New update.
Make it a trilogy, stimi-check trader, about r/wallstreetbets.
When Obama care came out I was working at a nursing home as a dietary aide. They always kept my hours just under the amount of hours that would have qualified me to have insurance through work. So I got private insurance but the rate kept going up till I couldn't afford it.
7 years later and that aged like fine wine especially at the end 🤣
Awesome Remy-ness, as usual!
You're such a fangirl.
Totally.
lol read the paper 0:26 XD
For all the truth in this video the truthiness part is certainly: "The more gourmet the ketchup the worse it is"
And because of you I had to go back and read it. Ugh
My dad never explained love making with beverages, but yeah, I'd have kicked him out to. And if I was performing at some dive and a guy asked me to play a song that he doesn't remember how it goes, but he used to, I would garat him with a guitar string
I can’t.
I did and it was brilliant!
i completely lost it at the J.G. Wentworth line...genius - Remy does it again!
I would have been fine if pro-OC people totally denied and denounced the projected figures but to actually explain unemployment is a good thing is horrifying.
The drop in hours was the result of people having the freedom to not be locked to their jobs for health coverage, allowing people to retire earlier and spend time with family. Don't believe me?

From the CBO:
The estimated reduction stems *almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses' demand for labor,* so it will appear almost entirely as a reduction in labor force participation and in hours worked relative to what would have occurred otherwise rather than as an increase in unemployment (that is, more workers seeking but not finding jobs) or underemployment (such as part-time workers who would prefer to work more hours per week).

Wow, what a great argument. My sources from the organization that is responsible for tracking the congressional budget and my fact checkers can't compete with such stunning intellect.
(/sarcasm)
@C caymer So you want to enslave 300M people? That doesn't seem like overkill to you?
@@InorganicVegan bullshit
@C caymer fuck you commie.
"It's nine o'clock on a Saturday. The regular crowd shuffles in. There's an old man sitting next to me making love to his tonic and gin. The manager politely asked him to leave which is understandable. It was tremendously inappropriate."
Working 1 to 5, like the Obamacare website. Omg, that burn.
Remy's songs are great. I hope they keep coming.
I am homeless; I was talking to another homeless guy at the food line about being unmotivated to work, when he told me he had a job and was still homeless.
awesome job! I know, because I'm living it.
The two thumbs down are..Sebelius and Pelosi !!
Excellent and to the point! The right need more of THIS!
This Sh** Hits Hard
Great video! I enjoy all of Remys work.
He sounds so pissed but looks so happy at the same time
Absolutely top notch, and so TRUE.
Spot on, spot on!!!!! Love ya, man
Maybe the best Remy yet... and that's saying something because Remy is awesome.
Check out "Remy Arlington Rap". He did that one about 4 years ago about the town where I have lived my whole life, and I'm not a young person.
I actually paused to read the note. ORGANIC KETCHUP FTW!
Jeeze, talking about the Keystone XL even back then....
Its so sad, it reminds me of how my money and time got liberated
I love this guys videos esecially , Don't tell em.
Working one to five. Used to be 9 to 5 but obamacare changed that to part time. Funny video.
AMAZING !!!!
Should be a remix for us 8-5 employees
Obama: I care about you and I'm here to help you! Why won't you let me help you?
I'm Helping!
🤔🤔 it is ironic how the New York Times stated that such reduction of hours was "liberating", the elites should try to live in poverty to see how "liberating" it could be......in a different note they might start jumping off buildings like it happened during the great depression in which many rich and well established businessmen lost all their stocks during that period of time 🤷🤷
can i thumbs up this twice?
Love it ~~~~ so on target-!!!!!
Excellent Satire! Well played.
Very Clever! Tells the Truth!
I love you Remy!
The current part-time I got last month didn't allow me to go beyond 29.75 hours, but I doubt I can go beyond 25hrs.
Same, but the salary is almost the same with full time, crazy, why i didn't work like this in the past lol
Spot on about the organic ketchup!
LOL, Brilliant!
WELL DONE! Sharing!
Awesome...
If the guy doesn't like his employment conditions, why doesn't he just look for a job somewhere else? Or better yet, start a new company and hire some workers full time?
Let me just borrow millions of dollars to make my own. Oh and many entry jobs don't want the probably 20% extra cost so they flat out won't employ you full time so they all avoid those extra costs (once again government screwing over the poor under the guise of helping the poor).
This isn't a problem for me so don't think of it that way, I can light hundred dollar bills on fire every day and not affect me, I can drive my fire spitting car around a race track then hop out before a cliff and detonate it in a huge explosion for fun every month if I wished (while still burning those bills). However, this does hurt low income families because some now CANNOT get full time employment, so your only option is work 2 or more jobs (which adds commuting costs, and takes time you don't get paid for, and hopefully you have a car because otherwise that's even more harsh conditions, and you have to change clothes for each job and it's humiliating compared to me where I just drive to work in my collared shirt and khakis and don't have to worry about much). This is a real effect and it affects many poor people in particular lowering their income and forcing multiple jobs and often lowering pay (because previously they probably made more per hour full time than part time which is more high school kids kind of gig). It's not a good situation, especially for the lower class.
Sure I have the skillset to be picky and choose dream jobs doing things other people drool over, but when you're poor and barely making it (especially now after your employment may very well have went under due to more government mandates and closures), you're screwed, you can't be picky, it's fight or die (figuratively speaking, but you don't have a choice, I guess be homeless or live in a forest but assuming you want to live in society you have to put in work to get rewards). Sure it would be great if we all had our dream jobs, but that's not how it works out for most people, most people would think I'm crazy if I said I get up excited to go to work each morning but hey, I've got a cool job that uses my imagination, involves complex physics, and makes for a great puzzle and I enjoy almost every minute of it, so sure I can say "well just be rich" or "just find a better job or wish it into existence" but that's not a solution, that's a pretend imaginative thing that doesn't exist and not how reality works.
Haven't you heard? He's a special boy, the people who work will pay for his stuff
Why is your health care tied to your employer anyway? Does your employer offer you group trash collection benefits? How about group police protection benefits? Group fire rescue benefits? Group education for your kids benefits?
How is it freedom of choice when you prefer Aetna but your employer offers only Blue Cross/Blue Shield?
That was Obama's sinister idea.. to kill employer based health care insurance which was really good, he had to penalize it so that employers would drop employees off the rolls. The way he did this was make too expensive for the employer so in order to stop the hemorrhage of cash they had to cut hours; part timers didn't get the same health insurance. ...hence the joke in this song.
Very much late to the party, but...could anyone explain what this video is about? I'm not from the States.
i used to watch remy back in the day and when i saw him on reason tv the first time i cudnt believe it
Just because the employer mandate has been delayed (again) is no reason to think that there is something wrong here folks. Just move along.
I was stage director for 9to5 in high school this is so much better
Saw some Reason TV representing at the Sarasota Ritz in town for the Cato institute.
Obamacare skit.
Love it, I just wish that it wasn't so true!

AWESOME.....
Remy is the best!!!
Brilliant, he finally did some country! I was so sick of the Hip Hop and the R&B
I'm a Heinz ketchup man myself. Tastes great and has a hell of a story.
2021 and Keystone still has not been completed
Nailed it!
It was my opinion that OBAMA would be a failure as president, so I have the satisfaction of being correct - the problem is, he's taking me & my family with him.
.
This happened to me back in 2013-2014. Employer cut hours and lost access to insurance going PT.
Oh yes, corporate greed strikes again. They refuse to do what's good for their employees If it negatively impacts their shareholders bottom line.
@@alistor1213 Eh, well not necessarily. If they don't make cuts cause government intervenes(which is the point of the video) then you can just pay higher prices. Do you or have you run a business for 5 or more years?
Visions of the VA...
Love it!
no one will ever work full time for me.. too much of a headache
This is truly a fact of life today.
So true bravo
Funny and Creative
This song is too accurate!
LOL spot on
From the Washington Post:
"...the CBO [the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office] said that there was little evidence the health-care law is affecting employment and that businesses are not expected to significantly reduce head count or hours as a result of the law."
But, then why does the CBO predict that:
"...the economy will have the equivalent of 2.3 million fewer full-time workers by 2021 as a result of the law - nearly three times previous estimates."
Because, this work hour reduction is mostly voluntary on the part of the workers:
"After obtaining coverage under the health-care law, some workers will choose to forgo employment, the report said, while others will voluntarily reduce their hours. That is because insurance subsidies under the law become less generous as income rises, so workers will have less incentive to work more or at all."
The government shouldn't tie health to work to influence people's work decisions, so this is a step in the right direction. Additionally, this voluntary work hour reduction will free up work hours for those who want to work but cannot find a job.
Those who voluntarily reduce their hours to take advantage of higher government subsidies do so at the greater expense of all the tax payers involuntarily paying for that subsidy. There is no free lunch here.
Many of the people who choose to reduce their hours do so to produce/do something productive that might not be considered a "job", like taking care of their children or going to school part time, thereby producing, arguably greater, value for society.
I never understood the tendency of some libertarians to assume the worst in people (i.e. I take it that you are assuming that the average person will take more than they give when left to their own devices). As a progressive libertarian, I believe that people should be free to choose the course of their lives because they are, generally, in the best position to make that choice.
How can one believe strongly in individual freedom when they don't trust individuals to make free choices?
Michael Bone Choices such as, maybe.... insurance and healthcare choices free from government intrusion and coercion? Weird.
Michael Bone
The reason many will choose to reduce there hours isn't because they suddenly decide to take care of their kids or go to school - those are individual choices. The reason many will reduce their hours pertinent to this discussion is that they will now have a perverse incentive - a government subsidy that makes working fewer hours more cost effective than working more because the salary minus health care expense will now be relative rather than fixed.
But the healthcare expense doesn't just disappear for those individuals - it still must be paid by other taxpayers who will see LESS money for working the same hours or will have to work MORE hours to compensate. So, as a "progressive libertarian", if you believe it's okay to make others work harder to pay your bills, then you can feel safe dropping the "libertarian" and just call yourself "progressive".
The government is taking the money of people who work and produce all of life's necessity's, to pay people not to work and to produce nothing!. after looking at my communist hand guide that's available at every school in America it says that this equation will end with lollipops and rainbows for everyone, seems legit.
Preach it MAN
OMG. XOXO!
Genius....
Read the memo, that is hilarious.
Nice Billy Joel reference there, too.
0:24 I read everything!
got to love the insecure and broke part
Gold still
Lol, the Billy Joel reference at 0:26
The new USSA!
4hrs × 5 days = 20hrs
$10 × 20hrs = $200.00 a week (before taxes/etc.)
$200.00 a week × 4 weeks = $800.00 a month
$800.00 a month × 12 months = less than $9,600.00 a year (taxes/etc taken out each paycheck)
REMY!!!!!! What's up man I found you again! Why you no put videos on your old youtube channel? haha
With the publication date, I'm inferring this video is poking fun at the CBO estimations that 2.3 million equivalent full-time workers will voluntarily leave the work force since affordable health care insurance is being decoupled from employment. If this is the case, it's great that people aren't forced to work just to have health insurance. Why health insurance was ever tied to employment is beyond my comprehension, even knowing the facts. What this does mean, though, is now there will be 2.3 million equivalent full time jobs available for the unemployed. The jobs aren't going away - it's just the natural cycle of attrition and rehiring.
Drill a pipeline where?... Hmmm... Didn't know pipelines were "drilled" anywhere, but it fits the character being "played" (as were many very much like him who voted our current Administration into power).
OMG LMAO so I will make it go viral
Told ya it's lmfao lol
I'm jammin to it.. lol
I wanna laff but its so factual.

Anybody else pause it to read the memo?
People want money, not a job... If people could get money without a job then nobody would work.
Insecure and broke, now im sure he signed up for the same insurance i have
This is very funny, but it's not, thanks for sharing, great job!
