    I adapted this method to my 44M-7 and Canon 5d. I had an infinity focus issue. With the help of your videos, I was able to adjust my lens and adapter -combo to perfection.
    I recommend doing this with the Helios mounted to the camera. I adjusted the block while the Helios was mounted to my 5D. Adjustment was made so that in infinity the mirror did just barely not touch the rear optics. Now I am able to focus perfectly to infinity and I don't have to worry about my mirror touching the lens.
    So huge thank you my friend!

    • @tersiii
      @tersiii 4 роки тому

      @Lucía Santos Eslava No - there is no need when using my method! ☝

    • @tersiii
      @tersiii 4 роки тому

      @Lucía Santos Eslava Basically yeah.. Unlike in this video, I did my adjustment after disassembly with the lens mounted to my 5dmk2. I turned the assembly as shown in ua-cam.com/video/FHXMXRhoMNI/v-deo.html so that the lens just barely does not hit my mirror. Then marked my position/tightened the block. Good luck and hit me with a question, if you need help! 💙

    On some lenses you can get away with just re-adjusting the focus ring to compensate for 2mm(did this on smc takumar 135mm f3.5) unfortunately for most lenses this is not enough, you'd have to also modify the adapter/lens like the guy did in the video.

    • @RetroFotoHouse
      @RetroFotoHouse  5 років тому

      From my experience re-adjusting focus ring is enough in 1 case from 15. So very few lenses can be adjusted for nikon in this way

    Very interesting tutorial. I guess that this lens could also be adapted to a fuji x or any mirrorless system the same way that any other Nikon lens would be adapted, correct? Thanks for the tutorial.

    • @RetroFotoHouse
      @RetroFotoHouse  4 роки тому +4

      For mirrorless is much simplier. You just put m42-Fuji adapter for example and it works with full range focusing, while making the same with m42-nikon adapter will allow you to focus as far as 2m only.

      @lepetitbaigneur9073 3 роки тому

      Is would be better to use something like tokina 11-16 f2.8 or other wide angle lens. I think that this Helios is for portraits, it has beautiful bokeh, not very sharp on the corners, so not very good for astro

    The mirror could stuck on the back of the lenses!

    • @RetroFotoHouse

    thanks for that explanation. Very precise. Im assuming this applies and works on newer Nikon bodies, IE: D850. Also when you make this adjustment, its dedicated at that point and cannot be used on other bodies. Wondering if you swap out the front to back element, if anything changes ?

    • @RetroFotoHouse
      @RetroFotoHouse  3 роки тому +1

      you can't swap front element with rear, as they are of different diameter

  • @xIndustrialShadoWx
    @xIndustrialShadoWx 7 років тому +1

    i did this for 44m-6 (The ring could move more but then the aperture blades get stuck at infinity symbol so i have to focus a little before infinity symbol).. Is there a chance it could hit the mirror of d3300?

    • @RetroFotoHouse
      @RetroFotoHouse  7 років тому +1

      Yes, there is. You need to mesure precisely distance between lens mounting flange and top of rear outer rim.
      And you need to mesure also a distance between the edge of the mirror whe it is up and mounting flange of bayonet of camera. If first distance is superiour to second- mirror will hit the back of the lens

    • @samsen201
      @samsen201 6 років тому

      Try and see. Mirror hitting the back of lens, does not break anything. My 5D canon had this problem only with converted Contax/Zeiss lenses. This would happen in every 3 or so shutter release. All I had to do was to release the lens from mount partly and mirror was free. The minimal marking the may occur on the mirror is a pure cosmetic and not affecting camera performance or image quality, that is when used for extensive amount. So a few try to find if it hit or not cost you nothing and if this explanation seems fine to you, go for it and then only if it hits regularly, you may consider some metal shaving.

      @Lucía Santos Eslava Si tienes el 44m-4 SI FUNCIONA LA ADAPTACiÓN que propone este video!!! Lo único que no hice son los orificios del anillo adaptador para que quede orientada hacia arriba la escala de profundidad de campo (los numeritos y las rayas). Si debasté la base del Helios pero sin torno como sugiere sino que usé una lima teniendo cuidado de no tocar los carriles para enroscar el adaptador. Lo fuí haciendo lentamente, armando y probando. Hice primero el ajuste de desarmar la parte que él hace última, y luego comencé a limar la base.
