Helios 44m 4 is easier to disassemble than earlier models like Helios-44, Helios-44M. It also suffers from a disease of lack of smooth running and wedging of the focus ring. This is due to the fact that some lenses were produced more than 40 years ago and during their operation / lying in the cabinet, the lubricant that was put on the threaded connection from the factory simply dried up.

Hey I have a little steel ball left which came from somewhere when I opened the lens. Does somebody know where it belongs?

it from click-stop diaphragm mechanism, it is installed under diaphragm outer ring (with numbers)

it is the small ball that produces the click when the aperture ring moves: it has a small lateral seat on the lens barrel.
