Let’s just say the issue was structural, and the airplane suddenly went haywire when the captain left the cockpit. Let’s ignore Al Batouty’s inappropriate barging his way into the 1st officer’s seat. Let’s ignore the data pulled from the black box. Let’s even ignore his being BANNED FROM THE US just hours prior to the flight…
…What seasoned, well respected, experienced pilot DOESNT communicate the issue to the captain once he returned to the cockpit?? I’ve never flown a plane, and have zero flight experience, and even I know how extensive info should’ve been positively SPEWING from the 1st officer once the captain returned.

There was a similar story recently where a student pilot clearly committed suicide. The investigation report was extremely detailed - to the point where it was literally scientifically impossible to dispute the suicide (but of course many did including the family). Yet suicide was never mentioned - even once. And anyone with even an ounce of commonsense and the ability to judge objectively knew full well that the investigators who wrote the report knew precisely that as well. But I am not going to mention what the specific case number was for the very same reason the investigators did not use the word "suicide" - there was no legal finding of it being a suicide and investigators have zero legal powers and a specific brief to not cast blame - only to state what happened and how those events caused an accident.

The flight attendees don't move around during takeoff or landing either, so it would have been weird if he did infact go up to the cockpit before they were cruising.

I'd like to point out that they found 136 sheered rivets, yet the only plane that crashed with a sheered rivet was the one being flown by Gameel Al-Batouti. The family saying there's no way their father would commit suicide, I doubt Al-Batouti saw it as suicide in his mind he was wronged and he probably saw this as him martyring himself. The only strange thing is with the way Egypt is you'd think he'd wait until they got closer before crashing the plane, but I'm guessing he figured it would be easier to bully the newer first officer out of the cockpit then hoping the other relief pilot would leave during their shift.

If you could protect, say, an SD-card from the intense heat of a fire, the intense g-forces of a crash, and waterproof it enough for an submersion crash, then that may be a solution. Put one in each the voice recorder and one in the flight recorder. If you have enough computing power, you can put two in each, one as a redundant backup.

@@raanthur3750 If I was to take a guess, it may have something to do with withstanding heat and power issues. SD cards are susceptible to heat, and I'm thinking that an SD's tolerance for heat is lower than magnetic tape. However, they could build a CompactFlash card (won't have as much memory, but the case can be built to higher heat tolerances). But the development costs may be prohibitive.
The other is the electrical issue. Quickly pull an SD card out of its socket and you may end up with a corrupted module. CompactFlash are a bit more robust, but still could suffer from the same issues if the power is abruptly cut off, whereas magnetic tape simply stops. This could be fixed with a battery backup or a delay-charged capacitor, but that's also R&D money.
So, it is possible to build one, but it looks like potentially nobody will pay for it.

Since the flight crew can bypass the security checks back then, but after that they implemented that everyone has to go through the security check. I'd much rather fly by orders of magnitude versus travelling in a car, bus or train. This applies only to the commercial air transport category though. I would not fly on a smaller aircraft with a pilot who merely has a commercial licence. Statistically that is more dangerous than getting into a car. For me, two pilots, each with ATPL, commensurate flight hours, two engines, 40 plus passenger capacity.

Whatever may be the cause, we cannot deny the fact that the relief first officer broke the protocol, and entered the cockpit too early. Not only did he break the protocol, but also entered into an argument with the command first officer which increased emotional tension within the cockpit. Secondly, during the dive, when the captain entered the cockpit, the relief first officer did not communicate the problem to him. Both these blunders could have been easily avoided. Egyptian’s don’t commit suicide, case closed!
Look, I see you’re struggling with this. I understand that you believe deeply that suicide is not possible among any Egyptian due to what’s written in your religion. However you need to accept that not everyone is pure and they can make mistakes like exposing themselves at hotels and stalking women and even taking over the plane when no one is around and crashing it after they told him he was working his last flight.

Why do people assume that just because there are mitigating or seemingly exculpatory circumstances, they automatically make a suspect innocent? Doesn't it occur to them that a suspect may deliberately act in such ways and "engineer" things such as deeds and conversations, emails, diary entries, etc, so as to deliberately cast doubt on their guilt? If I were a criminal, the first thing on my checklist would be to do those exact things. I am not specifically mentioning this in relation to the story that is the subject of this video but this comes up all the time. It's not rocket science. It's the opposite - bleeding obvious! There was a recent story of a student pilot who in my opinion committed suicide in a C172 during their first solo (the only person on board was the pilot). People defended this pilot in precisely the same way that people defend the first officer in this video, yet when you look at all the evidence objectively only one conclusion can be reached.
