I tried to learn quilting for the first time at the tender age of 72. After two beginner classes and lots of money spend at. Quilt shop, all I winded up with was 3 UFO’s. I was bound and determined to learn so I turned to You Tube. After several weeks of viewing several different instructors, I knew I had found my passion. But it was not until I came across your videos did I really get a better understanding of the art of quilting. Thank you so much. I love it that you do not waste any time with unnecessary time wasting talking or trying to entertain us. Your mission is to teach us and you do A very good job of it. Thank you again. God bless.....
Hi Lillian. I am so glad that it is all clicking together for you. My very first quilt was a disaster - I threw it away. I learned to quilt by watching sewing and crafts TV shows many years ago. I learned by trial and error. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
Hi Lillian and Sherril, I am 78 and like you I am trying to learn how to properly make these blocks. I took classes years ago but did not do well because I was still working a full time job and had a family to care for. Now, I am all alone as children are married and my husband recently died from dementia symptoms. Since quilting is my long time dream I find I have lots of free time and desperately want to keep busy and concentrate on this, I hope I'm not now too old! This week I made a similar block called square in a square, it is awful, lots of mistakes. Tonight I searched you tube for how to square up a block and found this channel. Sherril you make it sound so simple but I'm sure I will have to watch it over and over. Thank you so much for your detailed instructions. Geri J.
Hi there. I just found your tutorials and can't stop watching. You're fantastic at giving instructions. You don't talk and talk, like some tutorials, too much talk not enough sewing. Sew! You're great. I'll keep watching.
I love this block and enjoyed the best way of squaring up these blocks. so many videos being shown do not show how important pressing and squaring up are to your final piecing. ty
I always had problems with the squaring up parts of blocks , With the way you slowly go through , tell us how to square i am going to try again thank you for All your tutorials :)
