Left the gym today with the same pain in the same location. It was leg day and I was VIBING ready to squat. One squat at 135 and I knew I was done for the day. Will this pass with time?
I have a long term problem with my Knees, i got it since 2006-2007 when I was running and tried to stop instantly, then I just felt nothing on my knees and I dropped slap to the floor after that, I keep it secret until I envolved to sports again in 2012 and cost me to have a surgery as the injury got worst... The doctor seen nothing , they just trim some fats at the back of my knee cap and side of my ligaments and told me to just strengthen my knees... Now after Covid, was able to exercise, do some basketball and now having problem again with my knees, my left knee Kneecap is snapping going to the left as I Stretch my knee.... Is this the same problem that you are explaining in this video?
You might find the knees are actually ok and the reason you have the pain is because of a hip joint issue or even the foot biomechanics so see someone like me so they can assess the joints above and below the knee, regards jG
I have this and also I can not cross my right leg which has this over my left knee or sit Indian style bc of my knee pain. Any ideas why and what will help?
@@JohnGibbons hi. I know assessing first hand is important; sorry. The tendon/ligament does pull and hurt into my groin; and it pull on my knee also. My knee cap moves a lot too/tracking but really loose. I can’t bend my knee tho. I don’t know which is the issue.
I have the opposite problem, how can I make the patella go more laterally? My quads have full range of motion. I can sit on my legs and lay down. Please help, been having this problem since 3 month and stopped playing football/futsal to avoid bigger problems.
@@JohnGibbons thanks a lot for the answer. I am living between Indonesia and Thailand. I have Been to 4 doctors but it wasn't helpful at all. Basically, what I mean is that my patella is clicking, by touching something. But if I manually move it laterally, then I don't have that click. (by comparing right knee (my injured knee) and my left knee, it seems like in the injured knee, the patella is pressed more "inside" ) This happened since I fell down while playing football. I was able to play the full 90 minutes after the fall, but the next day it was painful, I lost almost all range of motion and it was swollen. After about 2 weeks I got back the full range of motion. Now I am stuck at that, I am afraid if I play football, it might damage the cartilage. Do you have any idea what can be happening here? Is it possible we may have a videocall? Thanks in advance for your answer and time.
In portuguese: use uma palmilha em formato de cunha, ficando o lado interno mais alto que o externo, assim o femur ficará em rotação externa e a patela irá ficar levemente interiorizada
My knees would dislocate if you did that to me. Interesting to watch
I know I would need this treatment
Me to, regards JG

Is this considered (lateral patella compression syndrome)??

Hard to say without looking at you, see a therapist like me where you live as sure they can help. regards JG
@@JohnGibbons I think it was my AT band. I started training legs frequently and never trained my hip flexors/squatted too narrow.
@@redcurated4302 we never think our thigh muscles need so much attention.. we think they are pretty tough to handle it
How is it now. Can you squat normally now without pain ?
@@blackdevil5100 it went away. I learned later that you are NOT supposed to stretch before doing strength exercises.
Good job
I have same problem after acl reconstruction surgery from patellar tendon graft BPTB... before 2 months...

Hard to comment without looking at - if you can't cross the leg over the other leg then that tends to indicate a hip issue - regards JG

can this be caused by knees caving inverse when performing the squats?
սպարտան yes, squat with a mid-width stance in between narrow and wide, also keep your toes out
I faced this when I was cycling 😞
