"took a plunge" Really? A TS55 was the first Festool I bought, almost fifteen years ago. I have a Unisaw but handling sheets is beyond my (safe) limits. Cutting down sheets was worth it, alone. I recently started using a parallel guide, which opened a whole new aspect of the track saw. With an MFT, I really don't use my table saw much anymore.
I agree with those benefits, but several of them are specific to Festool saws and to newer tracks. My older Festool track does not have the large slots for securing the track to a workpiece. One of the big benefits of some track saws is the plunge feature that automatically retracts the blade to a safe position.
@@AlAmantea Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what the Gecko clamps are. I can use the Festool F-style clamps when I have access to the end(s) of my workpiece.
@@bobt2522 the gecko clamps are a suction clamp from festool that attach to the outside profile of the track. It is a two piece set. Festool Item number 577294. Additionally it doubles as a very nice panel carrier!

Just bought the Festool TS55 and I love it as well as my other Festool tools. Premium quality at a premium price. I promise it's worth it though.

Very useful info. I took a plunge and bought track saw and it is amazing. I have no space for table saw and with track saw I don't need one either

The older tracks utilized the Gekko clamps to accomplish the same tasks.
