Fishing with MICRO JIGS vs SOFT BAITS - are they effective?

  • In this video I'm checking out some micro jigs to find out if they can replace my trusty old soft baits. I was hoping to find a more economical way to fish as going through multiple packs of soft baits in one session can become a little expensive. I've mainly use soft baits for kayak or boat fishing so I applied these jigs the same way as I would have used my soft baits. I even used my soft bait fishing rod instead of buying a specialised jig rod.

    awesome catch on the trevally. they look so fun to hook onto on light tackle. think personally softbaits are better mainly cause they can performance any action but that depends on the weight of the jighead where as regular jigs, cause of their weight you have to work them in a constant action otherwise you are defeated before you get started. mind you this is from my experience through freshwater haha

    Great video! I've just started buying those Gan jigs too. I use Zmans which last ages anyway but it's fun to mix it up with some micro jigging

      @Fishingreminder  3 роки тому

      thanks mate. Yeah Z-mans are quite durable and catch good fish, I use them quite a bit as well. At the moment I just love the simplicity of the metal jigs. Just need to take a tiny little tackle box with a few jigs and no more fiddling around with jig heads and soft baits.

      yeah I hardly bother with softbaits these days. Those micro jigs are more fun, just as effective and last forever.

      @@AdriftFishing yeah I would believe so. What about kingies? I got a few on small 5inch softbaits. Would be interesting to find out if you could get them on fleas as well. Probably could when they're in feeding mode.

    If you have only 10g jig, what hook side is the assist hook that you should replace them with?

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  8 місяців тому

      depends what you are targeting. The smallest and strongest hooks you can find. There are a couple of options for jig assist hooks. On a small jig like this I would only use one hook.

    Great work! I keep hearing about these gan jigs - they seem to be very productive! May I ask which rod/reel combos you are using?

    • @Fishingreminder
      @Fishingreminder  2 роки тому +1

      Cheers mate. You should try them. They completely replaced my softbaits. I currently use a Penn Spinfisher 2500. Brilliant reel as it's very light weight, strong and most importantly waterproof. The Penn Slammer 3500 is also an awesome reel. For rods I just use a two piece Penn softbaiting rod and an older Berkley Dropshot.

    Weedless hooks on softbaits = hard to beat from the shore

    • @Fishingreminder

      Yeah that's true. Jigs aren't great for shore based fishing unless top water or clean bottom.
